I was thinking that when Jiang Cheng wakes up in ep17, he tells Wei Wuxian that his parents’ cores were melted by Wen Zhuliu so they lost the ability to fight and that’s how they were killed and like, how does he know that?

I mean, it’s entirely possible that he just worked it out on his own, but given how upset he was (and his nearly hysterical “did you know that”) I’m gonna go out on a limb and say Wen Chao told him about that to taunt him, probably while his men were torturing him, maybe just a moment before ordering Wen Zhuliu to melt his golden core as well.

Whenever I try to imagine relationship between adult Jin Ling and Jiang Cheng, it's always JC going "boo-hoo, now that he's all grown up, he will fly away from the nest and forget all about me and leave my old bones to rot as things should be" and JL going "FINALLY. FINALLY IT'S MY TURN TO FUSS OVER YOU".

Something like this:
