I haven't watched much of ghost files either . But I'm a huge fan and love the mystery files,are you scared, too many spirits and top five beatdown.

But yeah I guess when people are saying that it's not the same, I guess they're trying to remind them that it was just the two of them chatting that brought so much more attention and love and not fancy production.

ive been seeing some people deride others as childish or whatever for being like "ghost/mystery files wasnt as good as buzzfeed unsolved" calling it "sour grapes", but i watched a video talkin abt the watcher thing just now (by stateofmoregon) where she points out that, when youve been receiving something for free, and u suddenly have to pay for it, it forces you to think about whether or not you actually like that thing—if it's worth paying for, if you only liked it before because it was free. which i think is a good point. it's not that people are suddenly denying they ever liked ghost/mystery files, its that many of us are being forced to reexamine whether or not ghost/mystery files is something we actually enjoy or if we were just taking it because it was free, and many of us are deciding that no, we never really did enjoy it on the same level as buzzfeed unsolved

i know that i personally havent even watched a ghost/mystery files episode in some time bc every time a new one popped up in my feed i just felt apathetic about it, none of the excitement i used to feel about new bfu eps. and i realized a while ago that ive only really been forcing myself to watch new ones out of the hope that maybe this time itll have the same charm as bfu did. so i really dont think its fair to say its "sour grapes". a lot of people are just being forced to reckon with feelings that theyve had for a while but just never bothered to acknowledge because hey, its free.

it just all feels like such a betrayal after almost 7 years of supporting them, of them to go "huh yeah so whatever thanks for making our company work and bringing us through covid and pretty much making everything possible for us. but btw you now have to pay. yay! ...oh . what's that? you're a broke college student from another country already paying for several streaming services that offer you 80.000+ hours of television and paying for another one that only gives you one video every week is too much?? fuck you broke piece of shit. now let's get into Steven Lim's Tesla and go book an expensive flight for him to go eat 300$ steak in another country for his stupid cooking show that nobody watches. this is a smart business decision guys."

and don't even get me started on the audacity to say "anybody and everybody can afford it" when over 70% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck (and that's just america).

In light of what whatever the hell Watcher is trying to do, here are some of my favorite moments-

I honestly don't know what to say about this or what they're doing. I guess it makes sense? I get they want to make better content.

But the entire essence of their show were the ghoul boys just chatting and having a laugh and that in my opinion provided "television calibre quality content"

I'm Indian. I definitely cannot afford $5 every month.

It was fun while it lasted. Hate to part ways.
