Finished reading The Fires of Heaven and lemme say the last like 20% of the book (maybe more idk) is so intense. I've been mostly listening to it on audiobook in my car but MAN DID I HAVE TO PULL OUT THE OLE KINDLE AND ZOOM THROUGH THE LAST FEW CHAPTERS BECAUSE

I looooved The Shadow Rising because I love the Aiel past and the way it's revealed and I love so much about the Aiel culture in general (especially Maidens of the Spear 😘) but -

Gosh that last battle vs Rahvin in The Fires of Heaven really delivered for me. The whole dream world bit and Rand not understanding it at all and just FLAILING AHHHH

And Asmodean! Boy! What do you mean "You? No!" That tells me notttthiiiiiinnnggggg.

... Whew I need a break. Gonna finish Fellowship of the Ring next I think and pick up the next WoT book when I'm back in the car tomorrow.

I really love Matrim "I'm no bloody hero and I'm no bloody soldier either" Cauthon. I love him to pieces. My favorite when I was a teenager, my favorite reading the books as an adult. Guess I haven't changed too much after all, even if I actually understand the politicking and bits of foreshadowing (and, hey, having so many internet spaces to check facts I forget as I read is wonderful, too).

And yet Mat is still my favorite. Tai'shar Manetheren.
