❝Sorry for the bother but does this look poisoned to you? Or suspicious at the very least?❞ Shu shows the stranger his recent purchase from one of the food stalls Star Trail has to offer. It looked so good on the menu displayed by the booth but now that he has the actual thing in his hand, he can’t help but have his doubts. 

Four pieces of round purple glutinous things wobble on the small paper plate in his grip. It reeks of something tangy and spicy which isn’t a pair he normally likes. He pokes one piece with a plastic fork and it shudders. Or at least it looks like it just did.

Suspicious indeed.

❝Have you ever tried these before?❞ He adds, taking a brief moment to give the other a good look. The guy looks like he knows a thing or two about food if the apron he’s oddly donning is anything to go by.

   Looking trustworthy and knowledgeable is a favorable first impression to have on strangers, contrasting what he’s come to expect. In this particular scenario, though, it’s a little bit of a responsibility on his shoulders, isn’t it? Tasked with influencing someone’s decision to eat something that may or may not be poisoned... He’d like to assume it’s the latter, but he doesn’t know this place yet.

“Hm.” Kai surveys the dish with his usual vacant expression and straightened posture. “I try not to lean into color associations. Purple can be perfectly natural.” His eyes trail over to the vendor this must have come from, then return to look at this man before him. 

“The thing to do in this situation ... is to have the chef eat one first, no? Or observe other patrons... If no one has collapsed, and the stall owner is not yet in handcuffs, then it’s probably fine.” A reassuring answer? Maybe, probably not, but he feels like it’s honest enough. “...I have seen similar gelatinous and jellied things.”

kai satou / your turn to die

has his frying pan, thank god, now he can do ^ that a lot

mysterious pretty man you may just pass off as a weirdo, which is fine

former assassin who couldn’t actually bring himself to kill anyone

now he’s just malewife material; will do the cooking AND the cleaning but certainly not the killing

will make self-aware jokes about having dead fish eyes, being dead inside, etc. things like that. IS he joking? 🤔

(yes he’s usually joking. he has dry and sometimes sarcastic humor that’s often taken seriously because he doesn’t seem like the type of guy to joke around)

not exactly shy in a timid way, but he’s pretty inexpressive and reserved. smiles are rare but he is easy to fluster — he’s used to being treated coldly and without affection so all u have to do is compliment him and he’ll die (for you) !

has “accidentally comes off as suspicious to everyone” disease but he’s good i promise
