I think the primary takeaway from all these new family anime’s (Buddy Daddies, Spy x Family, Yakuza’s Guide to Babysitting etc.) isn’t that people should be having more children but that child rearing is a communal effort meant to be shared within robust networks of support. That found family is as meaningful as biological family and atypical familial structures can enrich a child’s development in ways the nuclear family cannot.

What if I don't want to leave Texas? The only option for LGBT+ southerners should not be, "Just move somewhere else."

I don't have any attachment to "somewhere else". I don't have a community "somewhere else". I have to start from scratch "somewhere else", and that should not be my only option. That should not be the option people in big, northern, liberal cities give me whenever I talk about the political climate in the south.

I want to make the south safe for me and mine, not abandon it entirely. This is my home. These are my roots. We should be focused on making these places better, not writing them off as a lost cause.

Since GoW Ragnarok came out I made a friend of mine play the first one on stream while I play and just the way Kratos talks to Atreus now vs in the beginning T-T he is in no way doing “gentle parenting” now but he’s so supportive and wants him to explore his potential so he can find his own path. It’s SO SO SO different from the first game even the way he calls Atreus by his name instead of “boy” throughout. Kratos was so scared of making his son a monster but seeing him acknowledge Atreus as his own person and not just an extension of him (and the evil he did prior to meeting Laufey) is just *chefs kiss*. The devs really said “you know what, let’s unpack that” this time around AND IT’S SO GODDAMN GOOD

Something deeply painful is the fact that seasons, especially fall, dont feel the same. Not because of individual maturity but because climate change has impacted the weather patterns so so so much that we cant even experience the same annual shifts that our ancestors have for centuries
