So I did actually write something last night, just like 500 words or so for RDR1 Javier. I was thinking of making it like an anthology/series where he’s trying to win you back after all these years (during which he finally realizes how much he hurt you) and maybe gets his own redemption, if I write it for long enough. Idk if it’ll stick. Does that seem interesting to anyone?

Why you should draw fanfiction art

  Recently I’ve been going back and forth on whether or not I should continue drawing art for fanfictions. Because of my internal struggle I decided to write out all of the positives that come with drawing fanfiction art as a reminder to myself, and maybe even convince some of you artists out there to consider it in the process. 

 1.) They deserve it 

     Fanfiction writers create some amazing stories, sometimes they even create characters or worlds. These things take some serious time and skill! They spend their personal time to create free stories for your enjoyment. Creating art for them is a great kindness to fanfiction writers who have given you ten times that kindness back. 

 I don’t really give reviews of fanfictions. Mainly because I never know how to explain what I like about a fanfiction without giving them a ten page paper or ending up sounding like a pterodactyl. Drawing art is a great way to show your appreciation without screaming in their faces! 

 2.) It is great practice 

     Very rarely do I have something that allows me to draw demonic dolls, blushing demons, a man whose slowly breaking apart and going to space, ghost gangsters, robots with electricity sparking from them, a boy with a bloody knee blaming it on parkour, desperate hugs, two men fighting off ice cold oceans waves, the list goes on and on! Fanfiction provides some great scenarios for art, that let me branch out and try new things. It’s a great challenge! 

 3.) It gives them a reason to keep writing 

   Do you enjoy this fanfiction writers work? Want to keep them excited about writing so that way you can see more great, high quality, work? Well boy oh boy do I have the solution for you! Fanfiction art!

 Fanfiction art, at least to me, is a big way to show you care. Writers put time and effort into their pieces and you have given back something that also has time and effort put into it. Seeing that kind of support can really encourage a fanfiction writer! With fanfiction art you are showing that you deeply care about their work, that you are inspired by what they’ve done. If that’s not a big thumbs up, I don’t know what is! 

 4.) Positive response

 I’ve seen some fanfiction writers response to my art and let me tell you, it’s positively heart warming. The writers who I have drawn for have been so excited with the art! I don’t know about you but seeing someone who deserves something get it is super satisfying. Of all the reactions to my art, fanfiction writers reactions have been the ones I remember the most. There responses kept me smiling for days on end, it’s truly moving. 

 Don’t be afraid to show them your art!! Let me tell you my art is not perfect but I worked hard on those pieces that I gave those talented writers, and that is enough. It’s the thought that counts, and fanfiction writers deserve as many supportive thoughts as they can get!

Hey if you’re still taking fanfic requests I would adore something angsty between John/Abigail. Maybe something where he is upset about something but tries to hide it from her because he’s embarrassed but she figures it out and surprises him with how sympathetic and comforting she can be. As for length, as long as you feel honestly! :)

This is the longest response I’ve written by far. I made myself cry writing it, but I’m quite happy with it. Do NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T FINISHED CHAPTER SIX. Huge spoilers.

Abigail’s Song

So I received a request for some headcanons about Abigail singing and this is what I came up with. It’s kind of a oneshot/HC list. I followed her entire life so there WILL be spoilers. 

* As a child, she had dreams of becoming a singer. She remembered seeing a beautiful woman perform an aria on an outdoor stage and was absolutely entranced. She was enthralled by the way that woman commanded the stage and was able to bring such emotion to the crowd. She remembered hearing later that this was meant to be the advertisement of sorts for a set of shows. She had no mother and no father to fawn over her - just a shitty orphanage. So, she snuck into the show each night by pretending to be a cleaning girl. The nights spent watching this woman were some of the best nights of her life. 

* Abigail was discovered by the performer herself on the last night. She was about to go to her hotel and prepare for the next city. Since Abigail was just a street girl in the city, she expected her to be rude or snobby. Instead, the woman had stooped to her level and introduced herself. Abigail was stunned. It was like meeting a princess. She remembers telling the woman how beautiful her voice was and how gorgeous she was before blurting out that she wanted to be a singer, too. Abigail wanted to have the crowds love her and give her praise - something she never had. 

* The woman smiled kindly, but there was an air of sadness to it. Abigail wanted to run away with her troop. Maybe this woman could be like a big sister? Maybe she could teach her how to sing! She was willing to be an apprentice, heck even a servant girl if needed. She didn’t want this night to end. She even tried to hatch a plan to sneak into their wagons.

Affirmations for fanfic authors

It’s okay to take a break. - We all need time to recharge, and your fans will still be there when you get back!

It’s okay to go from fandom to fandom. - Nobody is going to criticize you for following your muse, and if they do, then you know who not to associate with in the future!

It’s okay to have a niche. - If smut is where it’s at, then write smut. If you’re all about the fluff, then schmoop away. If angst is what does it for you, then invest in tissues. Nobody has the right to tell you that you should be doing something else if that isn’t what interests you!

It’s okay to be critical of your own work. - Just don’t allow yourself to become so self-deprecating that you freeze!

It’s okay to ask for help. - If you’re unsure of a trope, concept, fact or universe, reach out to your circle of friends. Chances are, they’ll be more than happy to help you because they want to see you succeed!

It’s okay to ignore criticism. - Constructive criticism is only constructive if it helps you. If someone says something that doesn’t assist or improve you in any way, then please feel free to ignore whatever nugget they are imparting, because chances are good they don’t have the best of intentions for you!

It’s okay to stop writing all together. - Your fans will miss you (and chances are good you have way more than you realize,) but sometimes, you just gotta do you!

It’s okay to write with whatever method works for you. - Long writing marathons where you bang out 12,000 words in one day? Great! Linear, dry style that means you occassionally get stuck because you can’t figure out this scene, but it’s all worth it in the end? Rad! Piecemeal work that you thread together at the end? Fabulous! As long as it works for you, there is no wrong way to write!

It’s okay to have fun. - I think this goes without saying, no? But it seems that sometimes, authors need permission. So consider this permission to wile the hell out, and enjoy the ride!
