Hiatus

//It happens. I know I have a lot of threads on various blogs, but I’m just not feeling it honestly. Haven’t for a couple weeks which is why I haven’t really been around. I’m still on discord if anything, but I’m gonna be putting various blogs on hiatus, and moving others to their own blog and maybe side blogging others else ware.

@xabell @xmozzarellarella @lavastrings @gxntlxman @madeinheavxn (being moved to its own blog soon with the possibility of 1 or 2 other JoJo blogs side blogging off him) will be on hiatus, including this blog. Sorry for the inconvenience. I just haven’t had muse for a lot of these guys lately.

His expression remained jovial as they began a slow walk, even with Jou inquiring about his life choices. Truth be told, he did have moments where he felt lonely, but in the way that he meant. Only when he allowed himself to grow envious of other couples did he feel that pang. Otherwise being alone was just as easy as breathing. ❝ No. I actually feel fine when I am alone. I was alone for c e n t u r i e s, Jou. Being alone is as natural as breathing for me, but I don’t expect anyone to f u l l y understand. ❞

He went quiet pondering his next words. He hoped he wasn’t giving Jou the wrong impression. He truly was happy to see him. He guessed he just couldn’t see why he’d feel bad about the time apart. It hadn’t really been THAT long, but perhaps he saw time in a manner that Jou did not. At any rate, Jou had no reason to feel bad about the loss of contact. It happens.

❝ I’m…sorry if I’m weirding you out. I know my feelings about being a loner and all is probably strange. I just…truly do not understand why you would feel so bad. For me, it really hasn’t been that long but perhaps my perception of time feels different. A few months…a year… that’s NOTHING compared toCENTURIES. ❞

Their slow pace and Jou’s sudden movement gave cause to pause. Their walk ceased as the other closed the distance between them, seemingly studying him. This brought a small smile to the former king’s lips as he averted his eyes briefly. Eating properly. He guessed that depended on Jou’s definition of properly. The monarch ate what he always had — salads and fruit. If he really felt ambitious, he’d bother with some fish. Otherwise, he was far too lazy most days to bother with eating three square meals.

❝ I eat well enough. You worry far too much my friend. I don’t recall my eating habits being THAT bad. I just do not eat as often as you or Honda, ❞ he teased. ❝ Now stop fussing over my health and let’s get moving. I smell rain in the air. ❞

“I don’t know how you could get used to that. I mean, maybe some people, but you’d think after so long it would really weigh on you and you’d want at least some form of company. I know I’ve been on my own for awhile, and even growing up, though I had my friends around and my sister, and you..so, maybe sometimes if I was by myself, thinking about it that way wasn’t so bad. Though now a days with how we’ve all sort of split, I can feel a bit bored and alone. Kind of wish we could just rewind a little and go back to playing card games in tournaments.” 

Even if it was the time in his life that he had to grow up and make more difficult decisions and do work, he still wanted to be a kid and do all the things he liked doing back then. Everything was so much fun and now things in life seemed so boring.

“It’s not weird. I guess it’s just how you are. Everyone takes things differently, but..I’m pretty much a call away if you want to talk. I didn’t change my number or anything like that.” Though he was usually busiest on weekdays from work.

His hand lifted away suddenly when the other caught onto him being cautious over him again, and it brought a faint blush to his face before he scratched his cheek lightly and avoided eye contact for a second.

“Sorry...old habits, I guess. But uh..what are you, a cat? You sure it’s gonna rain, or is that an excuse to hurry up?” He grinned regardless and upped his footing so they could get to the nearest place, hands resting inside his pockets for now so he could control himself.

Jou’s next words earned a small shrug with a smile to follow. Why should he be upset when communication works both ways? Neither one of them made much of an effort to stay in touch so it felt hypocritical to be pissed off at Jou. Besides, it seemed as if a lot of good came from the time apart. Both had managed to land decent jobs and appeared to be doing well for themselves. Honestly, it was hard to be upset when his friend looked so happy.

❝Jou, I’m an introvert of the highest level. I’m also used to being alone. In fact, I’d rather be alone more often than not so it doesn’t really bother me as much as it should when people lose contact with me. It happens. I’m not going to make a big deal about it, nor do I expect people to check in with me all the time. You all have your own lives to lead. We’re adults now. We’re…not going to be as we once were.❞

And it may have sounded harsh, but Atem learned a long time ago that the time for child’s play was over. By the time he was twelve, he was recognized as an adult in his culture. Adulting simply came more naturally than anything else these days.

Adjusting his bag, he glanced down at his phone. He didn’t have anywhere to be and it wasn’t too late so there was no reason to turn Jou down. He just hoped — despite how nice everything seemed — that it wouldn’t turn awkward due to how long it had been.

❝Uh…sure thing. I actually have to walk this route anyway because I planned on grabbing a coffee to take home with me.❞

“Huh..I never knew that. The uh..milk thing, with you. Yuugi’s been drinking it since he wanted to get taller. But you know, I think he’s actually starting to get up there in height. Well, he’ll never be as tall as me, but he definitely had a growth spurt after high school, that’s for sure.” It made him grin just thinking about it.

“Yeah but..doesn’t it get lonely from time to time? I mean, I’d go out of my mind if I didn’t have work or patients in front of me. It’s..sort of my job to be around people almost twenty four seven and understand them. It’s strange. I..feel like I can understand the people I work with, but sometimes..it was hard to understand you.” Maybe that was because he was way older and had more experience with different things through his life.

He nearly frowned when he heard that last, casting his eyes to the side for a moment in thought, and feeling a slight ache in his chest after that. He hadn’t seen him for such a long time and yet everything seemed to come rushing back in an instant.

“See, again. I’m not..sure what you mean by that.” Then again, Jou wasn’t a psychologist, but he was still expected to understand some things to a certain degree.

“Never mind. I’m gonna get a coffee with you, then. Do you mind if I walk you home? Also..” The blonde took a couple steps closer to the other and lifted a hand to move the blonde bangs from his purple eyes for a moment.

“You’re eating properly..right?”

Jou’s next words drew a laugh from the ancient king. He shook his head, staring down at his feet with a wide grin. ❝I do not mean I have an indoor pool now. I used to have one back in Egypt. Sometimes they would fill it with milk because we Egyptians were so extra. But milk baths were apparently good for the skin. I’ll let you be the judge of that because I’ve yet to note a difference really.❞

He raised his hand, shaking his head. ❝Don’t. None of that. I do not need an explanation Jou. You have your own life to live. You can’t very well spend all of your time keeping in contact with me and others. At some point you have to spread your wings so to speak and I’m glad you did well for yourself in our time apart. I still stay in the same, run down area. I switched apartments after my heater stopped working but it’s the same building. One day I’ll suck it up and get a condo but for now, I’m content where I’m at.❞

He shifted on his heel, adjusting the heavy bag he carried. He was honestly good either way with their day of catching up. ❝We’ll decide at the end of the week. Just call me. Same number as before.❞

“Milk baths? I mean, I’ve heard of some weird type of ways to bathe, but I guess that’s definitely not the weirdest. Kind of convenient but I guess you wouldn’t drink it since you’d be bathing in it..” He honestly tried to imagine it since he’d never done anything like that before in his life, and he realized now how little he even knew about Egypt and the sort of things they did over in those parts. Well, he only knew about what Atem would tell him when they brought it up during card game tournaments.

“..jeez..you’re really a guy that can’t get mad over certain things, huh? I thought I was carefree. I mean, I’d be a little miffed if Honda didn’t care to keep in touch with me over time, you know? Some people I don’t mind as much, but..I dunno. It really was an honest mistake, so I’m glad you didn’t take it personally. Either way, I’m sure you’ll get the place you want. And actually..I will contact you during the weekend about it, but for now, since I got a couple hours or so I can blow off before dinner, why don’t we go for a walk? I don’t wanna just say hi and then ditch you or vise versa. I wanna catch up for as much as I can.”
