In the next few hours or days, we will be treated to another hilarity-filled update that is Very Haunted Spectral Scream Fortress Halloween event! We got a bit of a teaser with a comic showing the aftermath of Redmond’s and Blutarch’s encounter with their estranged triplet, Gray. 

As many would have guessed, they left many clues, as they’ve done in previous comics, to what the next event will deal with. Myself, including many others such as Exi, have reached the conclusion of the theory that the next update will include a re-skinned version of plr_Nightfall.

Why? Consider the following:

(See second image) For all the Halloween events, we were given a re-skinned version of a map that already exists (or in MountainLab/MannManor’s case, at the same time), changed to have a spooky, haunting theme. Most of them have been re-skins of KOTH maps for it would be easy and quick to reskin a relatively small map; MannManor was the exception because it was featured in a community contest for artists to skin a previously blank map. For the chance of getting a completely new map is low in this regard

(See image 3) First, how the conversations went in the Grave Matters comic, it would seem that for one brother to “win”, one would have to force the other into the next world FIRST; so far, one can consider it a “race”.

(See image 4) They come to the conclusion that, in order to do so, they must retrieve the body of the other and forcibly send it to netherworld. This means we have a reason to bring something to end of that race; previously, it was bombs, a hoo-doo variant bomb, or Lil’ Chew Chew, but to send off a coffin or a kart with a corpse would seem reasonable.

(See image 5-7) Lastly, the excavators had accidentally found a pit to the underworld in which to send their brother’s corpse to win. The previous two points can infer that this would be a race and they have a payload to bring, i.e. a payload race. The only plr map that contain these characteristics would be plr_nightfall, particularly for the end of the race, it has a pit in which to drop the kart. It’s already raining and dark in this map, so they have their work cut out for them to make it even more dreary and spooky!

The only thing I hope, if this will indeed happen, that they will re-skin ALL THREE phases. PLR_NIGHTFALL has three phases in this race but to have just the final phase, I feel, won’t be as satisfying due to the short length that phase normally takes.

Now, the question then becomes: will we have a boss to fight or contend with? Will the ghosts of Blutarch and Redmond try to stop the other kart from advancing by scaring the mercenaries if they push unimpeded for a set amount of time?

One additional fact: If they are indeed the “bosses” for this year, that would mean that almost all of the known Mann family are bosses, as their father, Zephaniah Mann, is the ghost of koth_harvest_event, and their uncle, Silas Mann, is the headless horsemann of cp_mountainlab; you could count Gray as one for the Mann vs Machine Halloween event Wave 666.

(As a lurker and Fan of the Mann Brothers, I am glad that my sort of wish for a Redmond/blutarch map came out for Halloween.

but I'm sad that, as a Redmond occasional blogger.  That I'm always on Blu and Blutarch as a questionably high win ratio.
