(I'm going to be posting a lot about my upcoming fantasy book. Filter the "fire's ally" tag if you don't want to hear about it)
Fire's Ally is a story about Eleg, a girl obsessed with the eerie, persistent, wildfire claiming parts of her home. No amount of rain seems to be able to put it out.
She belongs to a gentle, bookish society and her people have been fighting the fire back for decades. But they are not ready for the turmoil it is about to unleash.
Eleg understands the fire better the most. She has already once failed to protect the innocent in its path.
Though she would rather be alone with her charts and graphs, Eleg must become the unlikely hero her people need, and bring the continent together in an ambitious technological endeavor to save their home.
The book has a Kickstarter you can follow.
Read the Sample Chapters Here!< I recommend reading the three free chapters to see if you like the tone, pace, and setting. This book is quirky and niche, so it may or may not be for you. I want you to make an informed decision :)

Water studies. I’m trying out this zigzag hatch pattern to see if it helps… I think it does.
One of the hard parts was deciding when to put in the shadow patterns. I’m leaning toward doing it last, so now it’s:
block in water outline > sketch the wave patterns > hatch wave patterns by section > add shadows and reflections > highlights.
I think I’m getting somewhere.
Here’s the last batch.

Water studies continued - oceans
I let myself use the smudge tool, which for some reason I didn’t for the last few.
(Here are the previous ones.)

Just got done with my 10ish-day #studyblr drawing challenge!
Here are all the days: Day 0, Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4, Day 5, Day 6, Day 7, Day 8, Day 9, Day 10, Day 11.
I got a lot of practice drawing hands and everyday studying poses. Looking back, I can see bits of improvement, which is encouraging.
And I want to get better at interiors and objects. I have a longer way to go on those.
I had a great time drawing these characters thinking hard and writing (as I need to be doing, as well).

Day 9 of 10 of my #studyblr drawing challenge!
Went modern day with this one. Slightly mixed feelings, but it’s growing on me.
Here is Day 8.
