A special way to explore the city
“Stadtmaus” offers a very unique way of guided city tours through Regensburg! You can select between a variety of adventure tours.
We would recommend the Villains and Outlaws tour. It’s a very authentic tour, which descends you into the realm of wicked hangmen, insane murders and sinister outlaws. We experienced an awesome time with the very committed guide in a period costume by walking through Regensburg at night. He showed us some hidden places we`ve never seen before and told us fascinating stories.
Check out the link to get additional information about lots of different tours:

Snuff factory
The former factory for snuff tobacco of the brand “Bernard” is located in the center of Regensburg. It has been famous for its snuff called “Schmalzler Franzl”, that was so high in demand that the factory became the biggest one in Germany after World War II. Today all the rooms have the same lightning and the unique smell as in former times. This factory has produced snuff for over 200 years. Now you can have a look at the way snuff gets manufactured and get additional information about the history of “Bernard AG”.
If you are interested in getting to know this procedure or gain additional information guided tours take place every friday, saturday and sunday at 14:30. Tickets can be bought at Cafe Anna (Gesandtenstrasse 5).
P.S. Taking a break at Cafe Anna and enjoying the homemade food is also worth a try :) .

Culinary Guide:
Already a few weeks have passed since the semester started....
For some of you this will be the first time in Bavaria. If you really want to get to know original and authentic bavarian food, we would recommend you the restaurant “Dicker Mann”. It is located in the centre of Regensburg and has a long tradition.
So, no need to hesitate. Just try and get to know the local taste by some beer and regional delicacies.

The weather gets colder and christmas isn’t that far away….
Try the probably most delicious “Lebkuchen” from “Lebkuchen Schmidt”, located directly next to the cathedral!

Must see 1:
Regensburg’s Dom is probably the most impressive historic building in the city. The cathedral was built in 1273 and its gothic architecture is unique.

Hey everyone:)
Our names are Lisa and Steffi and we are students from Regensburg. Currently we’re studying abroad at CU Boulder in Colorado. In the beginning it was hard for us to get to know cool spots to visit and places to see that are not only touristic. Thats why we created this Blog: To help all of you (especially incoming international students and freshman) to get a first impression of Regensburg and its surrounding.
Best,
Steffi and Lisa
