A Life With Psychics- Chapter 1: Unexpected Visit
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Morning had approached as quickly as it left.
The boy had heard a lot of thumping and slamming, almost like as if he and his family was being robbed.
Then he heard footsteps stop at his door.
BANG!
He flinched, scared at who was trying to break in.
Was it his father?
His brother?
Was it a criminal?
BANG!
It was much louder the second time.
He prayed to whatever god was above him, as he couldn't do anything but wait.
BANG!
The door fell down, it's hinges breaking completely off with it.
His eyes widened when he saw a Officer Jenny at his door, staring at him with a mixture of shock and anger.
She pulled up what seemed to be a walkie-talkie to her mouth, and spoke.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"...Found the kid, requesting for a Nurse Joy." She said.
"Affirmative, sending a Nurse Joy over now." The other person on the receiving end of the walkie-talkie replied, before another loud static sound was heard.
The Officer Jenny placed her walkie talkie back into her pocket, and looked at the boy.
"Are you okay, sweetie?" She asked, reaching out towards the kid, as he then flinched, backing up as she tried to get closer to him.
"W-Who are you…?" The boy asked, his voice shaky with fear and distrust.
"I'm a Police Officer, honey, I came to help you." The Officer Jenny said. "I won't hurt you, promise." She continued.
The boy was still reluctant, but eventually let his guard down to her, grabbing her hand and holding it tightly.
The Officer Jenny frowned, clearly seeing that he had never been shown proper affection.
Poor kid… She thought to herself.
The Officer Jenny and the boy walked into the living room, where he saw more Officer Jenny's and…some weird old looking guy in a white coat?
"Ah, I see you finally found him." The man in the coat said, looking towards the boy.
"Yes sir, I'll leave it up to you now." The Officer Jenny said, as she walked away to help the other Officer Jenny's search the house.
A long silence formed between the man in the lab coat and the boy, until the man finally spoke.
"Amari Tanori, correct?" The Professor asked.
The boy's eyes widened as he heard himself be addressed by his full name.
"Y-Yes…how do you know my name…?" Amari asked.
The man in the coat chuckled, finding Amari's confusion and fear amusing.
"Apologies if I scared you by saying that, but it was necessary for your safety." The man in the coat said, as he held his hand out towards Amari.
"My name is Professor Oak; but you can just call me Oak." Professor Oak said.
Amari looked at his hand and hesitated for a while, until he finally shook it.
"Nice to meet you, Oak…" He said, still a little suspicious of the Professor.
"Now that the introductions are out of the way, you're probably wondering why the police and myself are at your house currently, yes?" Professor Oak asked.
Amari nodded his head.
"Right, well…how do I put this, hm…" Professor Oak said, hesitating for a while, until he just decided to say it straight, seeing no other way to do so.
"You're being moved to another family." Professor Oak said plainly.
Amari froze for a few seconds to process what the Professor said.
"I-I'm what?!" Amari bursted out in shock and confusion. "W-Why?!" He asked.
"Well, I'm sure you know it, but to explain: Your parents are being arrested for abuse, neglect, among other crimes they've committed in the past, and as for your siblings, your older brother is being put in a Rehabilitation Center for his drinking and smoking addiction, while your two younger siblings are going to another foster family to correct their attitudes and other things of the like." Professor Oak explained.
Amari was silent for a while, processing everything that he had heard.
My family's…gone…?
He didn't know how to feel, to be honest.
He felt excited and happy that he was getting a new family…
…But he felt sad, because he still loved his family, despite all of the horrible things they did to him.
Snapping back to reality, he spoke up.
"I-I see…" He said.
"I'm glad you're understanding of all of this, my boy." Professor Oak said. "Now, let's go ahead and leave this place, okay?" He asked. "We need to take you to the Pokémon Center to get you patched up.
Amari nodded his head, as the two left out of the door.
And from there on, Amari's life would change completely…

-Reggie ------------------------------------------------------------------------------When you think of Pokémon, what's the first thing that comes to mind?
Adventures? Battles?
The different types of Pokémon?
The triumph and defeat you feel?
The trial and error you go through?
The pride and courage when you feel like you're on top of the world, as if nobody can stop you?
I'll tell you what I feel: pain; Lots of it.
My life isn't exactly…pleasant, to put it nicely.
I'm abused on the regularly, neglected, cursed out, raped, even.
To put it simply: It's terrible, and anybody can realize that. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
"The hell's the matter with you, you little shit?!" A deep, masculine voice yelled out loudly, his voice echoing throughout the house.
A boy, looking to be in his late teens, is being harassed by his middle-aged father.
"Do you want to sleep outside again, you lousy excuse for a son?!" The boy's father yelled.
The boy shook his head, fearful but resentful towards his father.
"N-No, father…" He said.
The father sighed deeply, loosening his grip onto the boy, before finally letting go entirely.
"Clean this mess up, and go to the basement." The father ordered, as the boy nodded his head quickly.
"Y-Yes, father…" The boy said, as the father walked away.
Of course his family wasn't any better; They were laughing at him and even throwing insults at his expense.
"Looks like the waste of sperm fucked up again…" The boy's older brother said from afar, as his other two siblings continued to laugh.
Once his father was out of sight, the hurried to clean the mess he made on the floor and went to the basement, where he slept.
He laid on the cold, hard floor, as he stared at the blank wall next to him.
Why am I treated like this…?
I just want to be loved…
I hate my life…
Those thoughts continuously swarmed in his head, as he hugged himself, burying himself into his arms and legs, crying himself to sleep.
