ive been rereding sbr since the anime announcement and man. i am once again breaking down over how johnny's reaction to gyro's death and how, to me, its one of the most is the ultimate demonstration of love and care. like. johnny loved gyro so much that all he wanted was to see him again, to see him safe, but he still refused valentines offer because an alternate universe gyro wouldnt be the same, he still wouldn't be His gyro. it drives me insane because how do you love someone so much to the small details and the smallest things and the quirks and the jokes and the memories that any change wouldn't be good enough. what the fuck

au where when luffy was a kid, he heard maybe from shanks crew or someone else that the only thing that can make a pirate settle down is falling in love (and maybe he hears rumours about the King of pirates giving up being a pirate to spent a whole year with his love somehow and that makes it Worse) so since he was a kid, he's thought falling in love was this thing that took away your freedom and ur dreams and replaced them with something else bc why else would anyone give up being a pirate and stubbornly decides that No. he would Never fall in love. Ever

but it didn't work because right now hes in love with zoro and hes been ignoring it because if anything, he Is stubborn. but something happens or maybe he hears brook talk about his old captain or he sees other pirates being in love (kidd and killer in wano makes him Think) and now he can't keep avoiding it anymore bc its affecting him and Everyone on the crew can see something is up until someone (robin) talks to him and she has to be the one to break it to him that falling in love doesnt always mean changing your life or that love cages in it. it can also mean it sets u free and then hes like Woa and then zolu kiss

zolu and they have like the stupidest "first time's" they consider important. Luffy's nervous as fuck the first time he tells Zoro his top five of favorite bugs, Zoro's face stays red the whole time he lets Luffy help him change his bandages after a nasty wound for the first time. Luffy almost has a heart attack when Zoro puts on his hat for the first time, Zoro for his part has to lay down for an hour the first time he lets Luffy clean his swords for him
