I hate that lots of people think the whole mudbloods/pureblooods thing is racism. It's not. It's classism. The fact that Lily being a muggleborn doesn't affect Harry's status much makes complete sense when you look at it like a class thing. Harry isn't 'mixed race'; his Mum married into the aristocracy.

Thats really hard to gauge considering Harry is famous, we don’t really know if it would’ve affected him or not because he’s Harry Potter. And not a lot of half-bloods are shown in scenarios that would tell us if it does or not. It’s also hard because for half of the series no one but Malfoys give a shit about their blood status and then when Voldy and the DEs are back they tend to focus on muggleborns/muggles first. 

Anyway I don’t know if I agree with this lets open a discussion. Class is something you can change, you can make more money and raise your class and status, you can’t stop being muggleborn. 

Classism is how the Malfoys treat the Weasleys. Both pureblood but the Weasleys are looked down on because they’re poor. However the name Weasley still held merit as pureblooded, like when the snatchers were rounding people up and Ron said he was Barney Weasley. His last name was enough because its pureblooded. You’d think Weasley would’ve been on that list for the simple fact that Ron is Harrys bff, but that wasn’t the point. The point was they specifically wanted muggleborns and so if you weren’t on the pureblood list you were taken in. Thats not classism…

However I’m not saying that the purebloods aren’t classist, because from what we’re shown it seems to be a big trend. But in reality, if nothing had gone down in the wizarding world and lets say Sirius made up with his family and James Potter of the Pureblood Potters shows up to a party with his new Muggleborn wife. Rich or not you know they’d all shun the outsider. And that would have nothing to do with class and everything to do with Blood which, like skin color and race, isn’t something you can choose or change. 

edit: yay @ the replies, you guys are right it’s not exactly either of them. true true. But if I had to relate it to one, this is what I’d say.

i find it really weird how we can talk to ourselves in our head like how does that even work

astronomy club sent up a weather balloon w a gopro in it last friday. put in three packs of fruit snacks so they could have a giggle over eating fruit snacks that had been to space.

balloon went up into inner space, about 90,000 feet. came down right near the dinosaur park. a few physics teachers drive out to get it, crack it open on the way home to start watching the footage.

fruit snacks are missing.

multiple sources confirm that fruit snacks were put in balloon and sealed in with duct tape. physics teachers check entire balloon. no fruit snacks.

physics teachers watch footage. all 7 hours of it. right in the middle of footage, there are about 8 minutes of visual and audio static when balloon is in orbit. no other interference with balloon recorded.

conclusions: ???????
