A. Were the expectations or objectives you set for this subject during the start of semester match with what you have attained? Explain.
Yes, the expectations and objectives I have set for this subject during the start of semester were attained. Firstly, I would like to indicate that what I have expected in this subject, in a technical aspect, is to learn about Media Information. In today’s modern world, it is very important that we should be very critical in what we see, read and absorb from different sources like social media, newspapers, internet, etc. Most especially that we are in the Philippines, malicious content and fake news is very rampant and even been used by the administration base on recent reports involving Duterte’s social media manager, Nic Gabunada. Through this subject. I was able to learn the fundamentals of how media works therefore enabling me to evaluate each information that I encounter. Now on the wholesome aspect, I expected this subject to be fun and enjoyable. Although our teacher had given us a lot of requirements to do, it created a lot of memories that we can cherish. Furthermore, it has help our class to be closer through Kahoot and etc.
B. Message/suggestion(s) for the teacher.
Maam Nicole, I would really like to extend my deepest gratitude for being a great teacher to us. You have made your subject very fun and most especially informative. Thank you also for the unending patience, tolerance and understanding when our class is sometimes very noisy. Furthermore for the countless considerations you have given to us. Honestly, you are one of the my favorite and best professors I had encountered in my Senior Highschool Life. I am really glad that you were assigned to us for the two semesters. I would suggest to just continue what you are doing, being a jolly and funny teacher especially the memes. You have inspired a lot of students including me. Thank you very much Maam! Biyayaan ka sana ni God ng jowa as a gift for your kindness HAHAHAHA

Social Media is Widespread in the Philippines, But What is its Impact?
Social Media helped in the Philippines elections by acting as a catalyst in spreading the information and events happening in different parts of the country. One concrete example of this is the “Boto mo Ipatrol mo” which is an initiative of ABS-CBN where it incorporates technology and telecommunication in bringing news and happenings immediately available to the public. The initiative encourages ordinary Filipinos to actively participate on the state of elections and campaigns in their area. This aids and enables the Broadcasting Network to gather reports from various places more efficiently, therefore making information to be propagated and be known to everyone at a fast pace.
On the other hand, the Asia Foundation helped in the advocacies of some human rights organization by giving them training in exploiting the use of social networking sites (Facebook), blogging (WordPress), microblogging (Twitter), web tools and applications (Google documents), live streaming, and mobile activism to promote their advocacies. They called this movement in using these application and programs as “Digital Activism.” The purpose of this training is to enable organization to initiate a conversation about human rights on the internet.
Moreover, with the help of USAID, they were able to teach the organizations to create social media accounts and incorporate it in their official communication plans which in result optimizes there digital media and make it as one of its components. Through this initiatives and trainings the organization were able to spread their goals and advocacy most especially to the younger generation who are more likely to use these technologies.
An application of the usage of this new media is Ardan Sali of the Bangsamoro Center for Just Peace in the Philippines. He utilized his established blog to create a design prototype website of Tiyakap Kawagib. He made it user friendly to demonstrate his understanding of website architecture.
In the context of the internet, hashtags are made available to easily group topics or conservation in social media platforms. During the State of the Nation Address of the former President Noynoy Aquino, the #WeWantPnoyTo was widely used to bring up and make the president be aware about the concerns and advocacies of the public. I believe that the hashtag did really increased the awareness of the public and ofcouse the President regarding the needs of the masses. It also open up a conversion among communities therefore affecting their daily lives.

This was my speech last Thursday in our COM01 class regarding the state of freedom of expression in the Philippines. It very well known around the world that during the late administration of former president Ferdinand Marcos, a lot of people suffered. Basic and Fundamental rights of the Filipinos were stripped down and one of which is Freedom of Speech however, people came together and fought back to regain what was lost. Now with technology, our freedom to express our thoughts, opinions and most especially information has taken into another level. Everything becomes so fast and even uncontrollable that is why it is important to be responsible in everything we put up to the world because it has an crucial impact to our society.

Fake news is very prevalent on the internet especially in different social media sites. Often, a lot of people are not keen and does not make time on trying to verify the information they get in these sites. They just simply consume and spread the fake news thus may lead to misinformation and misunderstanding. These can always be observed on people who are bias and have strong political affiliations.
