The Equestrian Festival - Week 3
Beginner level classes have stopped, and tests have started. Classes for advanced dressage are still in progress, but have slowed, so Duchess and I and will have more time off this week.
We have an intermediate dressage test later this week, and significantly less classes for our advanced test, so we'll only be working a few days this week.
Show jumping and advanced dressage tests begin next week.
We practiced a new test today, this one featuring a controlled rear. When I bought Duchess, I was aware she could rear on command, but today was the first time I asked her to do it! She was beautiful, and very controlled. Our instructor was very impressed with her!

The Equestrian Festival - Week 2
This week is when competitors register the horse they'll be using for the final 3 weeks. This is also when riders select what disciplines they will be competing in.
I will be jumping and doing dressage. This morning we received or schedules for the next few weeks.
As you guys know, I had Pepper trailered home yesterday, so it's time to introduce the horse I'll be competing with!
Above are photos of my newest mare! Meet JS Love Letter, a.k.a. Duchess! She's an 8-year-old champagne Paso Fino. She's successfully competed in dressage and jumping her whole life, with a focus on dressage. I recently purchased her from a girl here in Jarlaheim, so she's well acquainted with the stables already.
As seen in the photos, I warmed her up in the barn paddock, which was my first ride as her new owner!
Specialized schedules began today, so Duchess and I had a packed day of dressage. Shown above is (L to R) trot, paso largo, canter, and walk.
After we were done with classes I took her for a trail ride through paddock island.

I brought Pepper up from the pasture this morning and got her ready for the trailer home. I'll be switching horses for the last 3 weeks.
Pepper doesn't get much comp time, and I wanted a chance to work her in cross country, but I'll be carrying out the next 3 weeks with a different horse. (Stay tuned!)
Josh came and picked her up for me. Stay tuned for the horse reveal tomorrow!

Cross Country training today with Pepper!
Cross Country is Pepper's biggest weakness, so while the main focus of camp is dressage and jumping, I've been trying to work in as much cross country as I can.
It's clear she's been improving, and I'm excited to keep working her!

Today Pepper and I had a jumping class in the main arena. Our trainer was Jannica. Mark assisted as well.
After class Pepper got a bath, and I was on the chore board for today.

The Equestrian Festival
Vancouver and I headed to the celebrations in Moorland today! I'll be heading to Jorvik Stables tomorrow for the camp, but I wanted to get in some quality time with my boy first, as I won't be taking him with me.
What is the Equestrian Festival?
It's a competitive camp held at Jorvik Stables, accompanied by celebrations at Moorland. The camp lasts four weeks. The first two weeks are spent training, and competitions begin in week four.
Each rider is only allowed one horse for competition, but are allowed multiple horses, or a different horse in the first week. This allows riders to train multiple horses in group settings, and prepare them for competitions. However, horse changes and final selections must be made and submitted by the beginning of the second week.

Heyyyyy
Sorry I've been MIA since Christmas. I pre-shot and scheduled all the posts for Christmas and then stepped away from my horse saves, but didn't come back.
I didn't have big plans for Blackwood Estates at the time, and all the horses were getting overwhelming, but I love them all too much to get rid of them.
Fox Hill has never been a playable save since track racing just isn't something you can really roleplay in Sims, and I have SO many horses that most of them weren't even in the save. It's really just a picture save. I'd love to do more with it but I'm just not really sure how. I've thought about pulling Scream Your Heart Out and her babies since she's my favorite of all my horses, and Peachy Keen, and moving them into a playable save, but they're racers at heart and I'm just not sure how I'd set it up since I'd still love to use Kennedy, but I'd just don't think a smaller, simpler save would fit her.
Regardless of all that, I'm back! I'm not sure how often I'll be posting, and it won't be of any horse saves. (At least not for a while) But I have a back load of other saves I've been playing in the new year!
Also I'd like to share that I started a new blog for non-sims related things. (@thelastchocolatebar )
Thank you for reading! I look forward to posting again!
