#you know what you *should* be doing? making ocs#im saying this so seriously and genuinely with love in my heart#take that comfort character or several and take all the parts you love and make an oc#when i realized i could do this my world opened up#i too care about canon compliance (to a degree) but ive also stood back and realized that if you dont like canon you probably would like oc#like it just makes sense to me... it feels like a natural step and i wonder why people dont want to take it#you could argue that 'they dont want to lose the mutual fan engagement' but like... if it's all different anyhow...#how is that any different from making an oc and having your own 'fandom' about it?#genuinely i think more people engage with ocs than we give credit for#and truly all you need is that small collection of people/buddies to keep you running around going apeshit for ur ocs#these are just my two cents based on my own experiences but... i genuinely wish more people would allow themselves to enjoy ocs#be free and make ocs. it's okay to take direct inspiration from your favorite blorbos and make new blorbos!#plus it will keep your local fans sane because 'i do what i want' is a source one can only rely on so much#like yeah you can say/do what you want but after a certain point if you cant follow the rules of logic ur gonna sound like an ass#i think “some canon evidence” is one of those reasonable boundaries we should respect when engaging with fandom/tags
