I love the detail that dying is a thing that can even happen to King Kai. Because it doesn't seem to make much difference, but he still really doesn't want it to happen. Like he already lives on another plane, that tbh seems more connected to Other World than the land of the living anyway. So what he just dies, sees Yemma briefly and then goes back to his fucking planet.

Come to think of it. I think the reason that Piccolo's redemption is different to Vegeta's is that I think he was less aware of the morality of his actions.

Sure he was born into it but Vegeta willfully slaughtered millions and knew what he was doing was wrong.

But Piccolo is born immediately after his dad is killed by Goku. Piccolo is the offspring of a literal being of pure evil. And so he wants revenge on the guy who killed his dad.

And then when it gets to the bit where the actual 'redemption' takes place, the Saiyan saga, and let's acknowledge Piccolo is eight in this arc. I think he might mention it but it doesn't matter I did the maths and there's eight years between Goku killing Piccolo Sr and Piccolo Jr killing Raditz and Goku.

And sure he's reached physical maturity for a Namekian but he likely isn't fully emotionally mature and he's only been alive for eight years which is not a lot of experience. Realistically I think he's more just learning. He's taking in influence. He's letting himself grow. And becoming more nuanced. Dropping his onenote quest to kill Goku and becoming a fleshed out character with more going on.

Tbf absorbing Nail and Kami helps with his growth a lot too.
