Abstract + Section of poster shown in the InDesign template provided
I’m going to play around more with the positioning of the poster image and which part I’d like to be included

I have decided that I am not going to add my abstract to the poster. Because the poster is already a typographic poster I feel that adding paragraphs to it will just create formatting problems. I also feel like the text on the poster speaks for itself and adding the abstract is unnecessary.

A local dialect
New Zealand graphic design has developed at a distance from the rest of the art world, but not in isolation. The work of commercial illustrators and visual artists has followed international trends since local printed materials were first created. This is even more the case in the electronic age, where increasingly diverse global influences arrive quickly. Nonetheless, there is a distinct, local dialect to New Zealand graphic design that reveals the influence of landscape and climate and a strong indigenous visual culture.

First draft for positioning the research. I still feel like I am having a few issues with how I’m wording what I am trying to say. I am going to look over this again tomorrow with fresh eyes and see if that helps

Quick 30 mins poster design. First initial concept I like this but it needs a bit of work

Moodboard of potential visual ideas for my poster. I am looking at potentially designing my own type face or finding a way to integrate a New Zealand typeface

Updated positioning the researcher. I might speak to tutors in class and get them to read this just to make sure that I have written it correctly. I am going to start collecting all my writing in one document (it’s currently spread across multiple planning documents) just so I can make sure its all coming together.

https://klim.co.nz/blog/pure-pakati-design-information/
This article covers the entire design and decision making process kilm went through to design a font that needed to represent New Zealand in the tourism industry. They talk about influences they used and the ways they tried to integrate NZs visual language into a type face.
