June 21st Weekly Update
Hello everyone!
I'm still pecking away at day two's intro, which is fun, especially if you let the rat in the night before. I think I will start giving monthly updates on re:Surrection instead of weekly, just because I'm sure everyone's tired of seeing: "yep, still doing this one thing", every week. 😂The curse of being a side-project...
Either way, know this IF isn't dead, it's just slow with random bursts of sudden activity when I'm waiting on feedback for my main project.
Hopefully I'll have a longer and more fulfilling post about progress in July! 🫡

I thought about it and mehhhh what's a day early? HAHA. The playtest is now open to the public! ☺️ I want to suggest playing it more than once, and trying different backgrounds. I'd like to see if the difference between each is interesting/significant enough! 👀
Hey guys! I have a playtest of re:Surrection's prologue + day one available on my patreon for all paid tiers for anyone interested. I'll reblog this post in 2 weeks when the post automatically goes public, though!

June 14 Weekly Update
re:Surrection updates:
I'm still working on day two's intro, and to be fair, I'm lagging a bit since I'm a bit excited for feedback on day one (I'm pretty sure the link is scheduled for tomorrow... but what if... I push it out today?), just to get a sense of what people think so far. However, day two's intro does give more insight on how the bar is operated when MC isn't tending the bar and MC is stuck with the reality that they're pretty much trapped. 💛

June 8th Weekly Update
Hey everyone! Hope your weekend is going well! Today's update is coming in late since yesterday was my birthday and I wanted to be more present in the celebrations... of myself.🎉
Anyway! Game updates:
Day 2 has officially began with a rage inducing morning of forgetfulness! Hoping that work on day two doesn't take as much time since there are a few scenes already written and might, at most, need an expansion. 🤞
Also the playable demo of the complete day one will available next weekend!

May 31st Weekly Update
Hello everyone! Great news. Day one is complete! 🎉
I'm not 100% happy with it, but I think it's less of a "this sucks" and more of a "it needs more to feel complete" kind of feeling, so I think I will be more and more content with it as I add on days and shift around/create events and contingencies. As I go along, I'm solidifying the overarching plot and adding tension and conflict into the narrative, which can be tricky considering the random factor, but I think I can do it. It'll just require some trial and error, a little finesse, and a fuckton of luck. Hell yeah.
At the moment I am fine tuning some things and doing a bit of editing/additions and then I want to give patreon members (all tiers) a go at it first for two weeks before I release it to the public (which hopefully it will look even nicer by then, who knows.) I will put a public link on my tumblr, but I really don't plan on putting out a "true" cogdemo up until the first 5 days are complete. I just feel like everyone following this blog has been great and it would be nice to see what's been going on!
Important note: re:S will be an 18+ game. Why? There is an explicit (but skippable) sex scene - and yes, it can happen on day one. We don't slut shame in this house! So please be warned and also good luck finding it.

To whomever sent me an ask recently--
I can't view it at all. Tumblr is playing games with me and it's not that I'm ignoring anyone.
If no one sent me an ask, then Tumblr is a more cruel mistress than previously assumed...

May 24 Weekly Update
Big week!
Finished the really long, daunting scene with all the buildable options!
Started a scene where you can potentially have a fling, learn about a throuple who will be regulars at the bar, or just ignore the guy entirely, because screw him, you're not paid to listen to people whine.
After this scene, I only have two more shorter scenes and then day one will be finished! It doesn't look like a lot, but re:S is sitting at just over 20k! 🎉At the moment a playthrough is sitting at around 4.3k words seen... so roughly 23%. Some of this gap should be closed as scenes are reused throughout the days (both casual scenes, skill improvement scenes, and scenes with a lot of options to explore), so we'll see! Day one should be finished by the end of the week and when it's done I think I'll post it for some first impressions to see if I'm going in the right direction with this!

Hey dude! Kind of want to thank you for something that might seem dumb but like... I have problems, not big enough to get me a wheelchair, big enough that I might need one eventually. I have a cool ass cane that I walk around with sometimes and have decided to go about it "grandpa style" as I like to say. It has a dragon with a marble in its mouth and it looks like it's preparing a fireball cuz of it. You can also fidget with the marble, apparently one of my ancestors used it long ago and it stayed in the attic for long enough that I just claimed ownership on it!
One of the things that originally discouraged me from actually using my cane outside was how medical the first one looked. No fun. Very sad. Would clash with every outfit. Would make people treat me different.
I really like the idea of you going out of your way to not only make mobility aid a part of your world, but make it cool as well. Make it so that it's not just a big functional chair, but it has like. Secret weapons. And it's flying. And they have magnetic wheels. Like... It's the kind of shit that makes me extremely happy to see that not a lot of people think about.
Anyways cheers mate keep up the good work and can't wait to romance the hell out of that lady. She will be badass enough for the both of us. :)
First off, that cane sounds cool as hell. Very "my estranged uncle with enormous wealth has invited me to his mansion for a weekend solving ancient mysteries" vibes and I am down for that!
I don't think it's a silly thing to mention, either. Mobility aids are with you either all the time or enough time that there will be people who associate that aid with you, and so why can't they be something that expresses who you are? Even better if they can go beyond their function and have hidey holes or secondary or tertiary applications.
All of this to say, I hope your awesome cane has a hidden sword that maybe you don't even know about... yet.

Thanks for making a wheelchair in a futuristic world. It's good to see :)
I have decided that not only will there be a character who is a wheelchair user, but she will be ✨ romanceable ✨.

Hey there!! Since we talking wheelchair I thought I'd bring my grain of salt to the table!!
Sadly, the way transhumanism is going it does look like the popular consensus to fixing all our problems would be going the terminator way, which I kind of disagree with. I am deathly, mortally, absolutely afraid of machines in my body especially since we live in a capitalist hell hole that would make me pay monthly for my knees and would make them rot if I did not pay my bills.
So, I have a few ideas about wheelchairs! A lot of them are based in pure fantasy, mostly because I suck at engineering and robotics.
If you wished to keep wheels on the chair, then there are multiple ways about modernizing that : Magnetic disks of different sizes and shapes could be cool, kind of like click on wheels but with different purposes (eg, use them as a holographic computer when you're not using them to move, use them as potential shuriken, or even a secret stach for drugs!), Replacing the wheel by Tank like one (slower but would be interesting to make a tank-chair, armed with cannons), or even just having a painfully normal old looking wheelchair FULL of secrets and surprises! A techy wheelchair that doesn't ring any alarm bells because it looks... Outdated.
Now, if you're wheeling (see what I did there ... Willing, wheeling... That's a pun if I know one!) to change the very concept a wheelchair, there are many many ways to go about that too!! A flying chair could be a good idea gliding instead of wheeling, overboard style (creepy that that is a real life thing, by the way). Mecha chair is also a funny one (Octopus chair, great for artisans and mechanics who'd need to adjust their height for projects AND for being an extremely dexterous little fuck when push comes to shove). There's a chair made of nannobots, big hero 6 style, an amorphous mass spilling towards you.
I have SO many ideas I am SO willing to brainstorm if you need. Hope these ones could help as well.
Omg I'm basically vibrating rn I'm so happy to see this! I personally do not use mobility aids, but one of my greatest friends has SMA and she is in agreement with you about people resisting the idea of bionics (or having AI connected to your brain). Like, some of these procedures give you a less autonomy of your body than before (and gives people/companies access to your body that you might not even be aware of!)
I'll put this under a cut because I got very chatty.
For anyone that's wondering why I think that a near-future setting should/would have wheelchairs: A real detriment to the progress of wheelchairs or mobility aids in general is that too many people assume that cures will happen soon (while gene therapy is an option, it's something that addresses known symptoms or specific mutations and will never be ahead of the genetic curve -- it's also impossible to tell what the long-term success rate of it will be for each condition), or that everyone should get robot legs or exoskeletons, which can help, but it's not a sustainable solution, considering many bodies would need highly tailored models, or if the spinal cord is compromised and the signals are too weak for detection. As for AI aids or BCIs, what if you're cognitively at a level where you cannot rely on AI to correctly interpret your intentions? And even assuming these technologies become available and are widely accepted by everyone ever, how many people can afford to have a set of bionic AI legs? In this capitalist world? Definitely not the poor! Realistically, it's just not gunna happen! Someone, somewhere, in 100 years or even beyond, is going to need/prefer a wheelchair or something like it.
Also, as soon as humans decide to colonize space, most health research will probably be diverted into figuring out ways to keep humans from losing all their muscle mass and prevent the development of osteoporosis from long-term space living. Who cares about health on Earth when space is the future, amirite? (But hey... if they do lose enough muscle mass we can... give them a wheelchairs.)
Workshopping wheelchairs!
For some reason the idea of click-on wheels calls to me -- like even if they're there for the illusion of wheels. Deceptively making it look like it's a very out-of-date model in order to catch people off-guard when you pull out a wakizashi from the back support.
Going full spiderman with a Doc Ock backpack would also be fun as hell. Same with the nanobot swarm. Like why have a mobility aid when you can become a living Cryptid?? This is going to live in my brain for a long time. 😂 (No one be surprised if I use this premise in the future, somewhere, somehow. I love it.)
I think what I might end up settling with is closest to the gliding wheelchair idea. If a space station's habitation areas are made up of... let's say nickel and if it's far enough out of Earth's magnetosphere, there could be a good justification that the station would have it's own magnetic field for radiation protection... and therefore granting rights to hoverchairs that use magnetic repulsion to levitate. Wheels could be attached if entering areas made from non/low magnetic materials because of sensitive equipment etc. It sounds science-y enough for me! I'm not too gung-ho about making it all hard sci-fi, but believable enough to give it some interesting limitations lol.
What do you think?

Hear me out... A flying wheelchair with energy cannons on the size.
LOL! Actually..... giving it hidden weapons (or maybe not so hidden weapons) does sound fun.

I just want to say that I've been trying to do some research into futuristic wheelchair ideas for reasons, and I am appalled at the lack of creativity -- or, well anything. Like, really? Are we really going to assume that in less than 100 years everyone is going to be magically cured or bionic? My mind is blown and my apathy for humanity has heightened just thaaaat much more. 🤏

May 17th Weekly Update
Hello everyone!! I'm coming in hot today to say that I'll be focusing on re:S this week and maybe next week, too, since I'm in a bit of a fantasy rut at the moment. Sci-fi cures all. 💜
While this week has been me doing more editing of the intro and start of day one to make sure it aligns more with the worldbuilding that's been happening, I've also added a glossary of words that pop up sometimes, as well have been poking at this scene.
Since I'm here, I'll show some love for the zb background (I keep shortening xenobiologist to xb and then pronounce it zee bee in my head, so zb is my new fave way to shorten it)
A lil' spoilery under the cut.

May 10th Weekly Update
A nice short update this week!
I managed to get through the very long variable choice in this scenario and am SO HAPPY. There are a couple more longer choices left in the entire scene, but require less research lol. Based on the way things are going, I think I can have Day 1 finished - or nearly finished - by the end of May. I guess it really depends on how involved I end up making the final random scene. Hmmm. TBD. 😅
Have a great weekend, everyone! Until next week!🥂

Just for a fun aside; I've been reading A City on Mars: Can We Settle Space, Should We Settle Space, and Have We Thought This Through? by Kelly and Zach Weinersmith. Which has immensely driven how I've created this not-so-distant future setting and decided on what limitations there are on the space faring community.
Some examples:
There are 4 separate space stations. The ISS, which is research only, and 3 ringed habitation stations that are further and further away from Earth. There is another under construction. The goal is to have a "road" of stations to Mars for an eventual settlement.
Anyone born off-Earth can never go to Earth for various germ, animal, and microscopic reasons that will probably kill them within a week. (Imagine being born and raised in a near-sterile environment that occasionally experiences zero gravity events, then suddenly being introduced to things like malaria and fleas.)
Space being politically fraught and fought over by Earth nations due to the lack and ambiguity of old 1970s space laws. This is what the soldier background deals with.
Anyway if you're interested in this topic, this is a really good book that gives a somewhat more cynical outlook on our immediate ability for space colonization and goes into far more detail about how it would have to work than most idealistic versions I've read.
As for a small update; I'm currently working on a scene for the xenobiologist background where they have a mini-meltdown after discovering an old coworker stole their research posthumously. Ah, what are friends for, amirite?
