I created this art as a gift for my friend Diya. This is his son, Magdy and his cat whose story I shared here.

Right now, Diya is separated from his family in Gaza and has been for over a year. His family is facing the second winter since they were displaced from their home. The winters in Gaza are harsh. People are taking shelter in flimsy tents, that don't protect them from the wind and rain. The rain brings with it flooding that destroys everything. Diseases are spreading with no access to proper sanitation and medical care. When they went to receive polio vaccinations, they witnessed an IOF attack on the taxi in front of them.

The last donation was 6 hours ago, and there have only been 4 donations in the 24 hours. We need to help Diya reach his short-term goal of 30% so he can help his family purchase winter supplies that they need to survive. It is already November. There is literally no time to waste. There are talks on twitter about the antiblackness connected to Claudia and Louis' trial and I want to weigh in. From how Santiago addressed the two, to how the trial is held. Historically in the South during the time IWTV took place, black people were oftentimes falsey arrested, put to trial, found guilty, and executed among mobs of white people. If they were accused of killing, catcalling, raping or disrespecting white people they often times faced that punishment.

Public lynchings for Black people in the South were common; crowds of white mobs would join, find enjoyment in it, and even bring their children to executions of Black people. When Black people in the South had trials connected to harming white people, white mobs would be waiting outside of the courtroom (sometimes inside, and the police were included in these mobs) to kill them

It was entertainment, dehumanizing, and mistreating Black people.

The same thing is happening to Claudia and Louis. And for two vampires who were very vocal about the racism they faced in S1, this is very sad. Claudia is killed and her death is seen as entertainment for crowds of white people, but before that, she was made into a public spectacle, as the little girl in the play. And her makeup was also minstrel-like.

Louis of course experienced antiblackness. But the anti-black violence and eventually, the death of Claudia is so sad.
