Nobody is reading this but it's all good
1 more day. If I can run tomorrow, I will have run the entire month of July, once a day. That was the challenge and I'm very excited to finish with a flourish. I've been keeping my runs shorter lately but I'm pushing the pace some, especially towards the end. And honestly I'm feeling great when the weather cooperates. Not sure what I could do for 5k right now but I think it'd be under 21. Not ready to call a sub 20 yet haha. But just gotta do tomorrow and then who knows, let's see how long I can push this streak.

Need for Speed
Now I'm not one the say a mile pace workout can predict the mile shape I'm in cause I'm naturally a stronger, quicker dude than most distance runners so interval workouts can be really skewed. But damn it feels good to go 3x3x300 @ mile pace -- 1 min rest between reps and 3 mins rest between sets. I went 54,54,53 - 51,54,53 - 54,53,52 and only wanted to die multiple times! Can I run a 4:30 1500 right now? Probably not. But it's good to know not everything is lost. Now if you excuse me I have a date tonight.

Resuscitation
As of 11pm the run streak was dying. My PR would be 25 days in a row of running once a day. I had sliced open the bottom of my foot, eaten like crap all day, drained myself by walking for pokemon, and had been drinking beer with Coach Nelson all night watching UFC. This was vintage "skip a run" day. But at 11:15, I sat up and said "no." I decided I wasn't going to end the streak today. I was awake, I had some time, I was going to go out and run a mile, damnit! 2.5 miles later (with a 600m uphill all out effort for some maintenance) and I'm sitting at the stairs to my apartment whooping and hollering. I ran, and I FELT GREAT! It had cooled down, and lightning was in the air, and I had taken my shirt off since no one was around, and I felt so fast and free! I'm so much happier now than I was 50 minutes ago, and the streak pushes to 26, living to fight another day. When the temp goes down for good, I can't wait to see what type of true shape I'm in.

How am I still alive
I'm somehow 20 days into the month of July and an extra 4 before than and haven't taken a day off once. I can't wait for it to stop being 100 goddamn degrees all day so I can see what it's like to run without heat stroke.

23 days of running in a row (so far)
At what point does it become addicting? Or, like an addict, am I unaware of my own addiction? I don't think 1461 is divisible by 23 evenly but that's how far I am in!

I'm worried the run streak may come to an end soon. I ran the past two days but they weren't pretty jaunts at all, and I tried to run this morning but had too much Achilles pain. I'm giving myself time to rest (no napping) before I try again tonight. Fingers crossed.

I don't know what my previous run streak is but I know I've shattered it at this point. 19 days and counting! I'm legitimatly feeling stronger every day, and I know my body is gonna change soon to match.

So I ended up golfing today. I haven't golfed in 13 years and I've never done 18 holes. I was terrible, sore, and drank a lot of beers with my boss but I had a blast. Didn't get home till 7. Was waiting on a recruit from Texas to finish a meeting she had before I called. Finally decided that I was gonna drag my butt out the door at like 8:30 for a run. I had no energy, so I only went to do a mile. Decided 3 minutes in to go to 15, but I wanted to do a Kenyan Outback. So I turned around at 7:30 and started hoofing it back (mostly uphill). I felt really strong for once coming up the last bastard hill and when I got to my apt I saw that I had come back on 6:30, a full minute faster than I had gone out. I tacked on a minute around the block then walked an additional lap to cool down, but I already felt way better than yesterday. Sometimes it's just getting out the door. Also my recruiting call went fantastic, bright kid, I think she likes us, hopefully she will come.

Not every run is a good run. Went to the track to do a tempo. Somewhere between 2-2.5 miles at 7:00 was the goal. Only got 2k in before my right shin started stabbing, so I pulled off and walked home. I think its tightness, may end up tacking more on tonight. But probably not cause I'm drinking wine now.

I'm not yet at the point where running rejuvenates me and I can't wait to get out the door on my next jaunt. But I'm not dreading each run, so I guess I'm ok with where I'm at for now. Run streak still strong.

Lucky singlet = fast workout Inspired by my friend Alex (who, to be fair, is following a training plan I wrote lol) to do 6x800 @ 5k pace. Set out to try and run 3:10 w/ 3-4 min rest. Didn't run slower than 3:05 somehow on 3 min only rest. And then inspired by my other friend Sam (I don't know why I can't tag people on mobile) I tried to throw some speed in at the end. 2x150 fast/float/fast was plenty to make me feel lightheaded in 93 degree weather so I stopped. Feeling good about my progress only 15 days in though!

To paraphrase Boris Berian; my mileage is gonna go way up thanks to pokemon go. Did a relaxed 30 non stop and felt like I could keep going. So I walked another 30 mins so I could level up and hatch my egg 😂. Whatever gets me moving, right? Run streak July going strong!

At age 21 you are officially an "old adult" and required to live in a retirement home.
ok i just saw the rudest article about how if you’re over the age of 20 you shouldn’t be reading YA and i want to say a big F U to that author bc sometimes i NEED to read a 200 page book with a predictable love story and some good old fashioned teenage angst because my brain gets exhausted thinking about how sad and big and awful the world currently is so reading fluffy YA books is self care tbh

I didn't post yesterday cause I was sleepy and forgot but I ran out to our cross country course for the first time this summer and ran a loop there 😊 run streak day 9! I'm waiting until the sun goes down to run again because I'm tired of baking in the 90 degree heat and I'm too lazy to wake up in the morning.

Found a new trail in Columbia and ran like 4 miles so that was neat. But I'm also sore from lifting yesterday and in a shitty depressed rut living in squalor so I think it kinda evens out. Oh well, run streak at 8 days for July and 12 days overall.

Got a couple miles in this afternoon in the hot sun so I'd have time to go see Spiderman AND Wonder Woman tonight! Also I lifted for the first time today which was delightfully painful.

Almost forgot to post today! The streak is still alive. I only did 15 mins but in my defense it was super hot and I actually set out to do less. I needed a bit of a down day after yesterday's workout and dealing with work today. 6 days into the run streak, 10 days back into my training!
