Banana Phone
Illusion final.
Evaluation, The banana phone was an idea spawned from humour, the lobster telephone by Salvador Dali was a large influence aside from the typical hold a banana up to you face piece of patter.                                                                  It held many challenges the main one being me putting the editing off for so long, but I eventually learned a created this piece. From shooting I’ve earned a greater understanding of how to photograph two object and combine them, taking them with the same lighting and from the same angle so each object fits well together. The project allowed me to greater grasp aspects of photoshop, understanding clipping a layer behind another and gaining a new understanding of select and mask and the selection tools has been great. All in all I have learned so much from applying myself fully and will continue to do so with each portion of the the course.

Lost and Found - Plan
The point of this brief is to adapt an object into an unlikely situation. we must first find a backdrop to photograph for our object to be edited on.
My idea is to first take a photo of a large field or area of greenery and overlay a garden of flowers onto the backdrop, this should look like an old MTV comicstrip overlay. What id like to do is photograph a bouquet of flowers and perhaps adapt it onto the field in a manor that looks professional but comical as well.
I will have to recreate the same lighting as outside, inside to make it seem realistic although I  the fact that we must portray realistic works as my final piece has to be unusual.

Brief 2 - Recycle
Plan
For this project we must gain an understanding of light and how it translates through your camera and how we can adapt and images taken with multiple different light sources.
My plan is to photograph an open book using different lighting angles to make the spaces between the pages more interesting, this should give a feel of depth and space as perhaps one half of the book will be light and the other will be darkened. I have props to include such as dead flowers to give an old romantic feel to my images, whilst also appearing ruined and decrepit.
In class I will need an LED panel to light specific areas, my props, a suitable background. The cameras and lenses are provided but I will use a 80 - 100mm lens allowing me to capture in detail and maintain the whole shot.

1. Clara Peters 2. Ori Gersht 3. Peter Jones 4. Darren Jones 5. Mat Collishaw
1. A still life from 1500s, an example of the original still life still. Conveying a comforting casual sense.
2. Modern still life with an explosive take. Gersht takes what would usually be a simple still life and adds his individual take. Using simple front lighting and composition the object creates the image.
3. A monkey image, Peter Jones edits his still life to look older and more fatigued to make them seem like a painting. Something we see often in photography still life.

Plan 5
Banana Phone
New plan is to incorporate a banana into the position of an old phone, simple enough just as i’ve taken the images and will now attempt to edit.

Plan 3 and Contact Sheets
A glass of water and a flame coming out of the top. The contrast of fire and water and the elements. I have shot the original images and will need to edit them to make more contrasting colours. I have created a contact sheet to display my photographing process. I changed the background of the candle to black os it would be easier to use a section tool on. I will take the top of the candle and adapt it into the top of the glass. In the Thursday session I will hopefully stay back with heather and she can guide me on how to edit this.
I can reshoot on Monday and use better equipment but for the moment I have two high spec fluorescent LED panels and a Canon 2000D with and 18mm - 55mm lens.

Surrealism Reasearch and Techniques
Surrealism Photography is a method of taking and making images and adapting them into unusual and odd themes. This can be through editing or staged photography, where an scene will be produced for an image.
The first touches of surrealism can around in the 1920s through a primary contender by the name of Andre Breton, he forged something called the surrealist manifesto, inspired by painters of his generation he wrote about what he thought surrealism to be.
Man Ray
A certain inspiration for this project is Man Ray, an American who mainly worked out of Paris. His work was contributed in the Dada quite frequently and in the surrealist movement. His creative life spans over the 1930s to the 1950s and he considers himself more as a painter, being he would adapt his photos through paint and brush.

Denise Bellon
Tumblr media
Bellon was an unusual surrealist photographer during the 1900s. She was photographer for the International Exhibitions of Surrealism held in 1938, 1947, 1959 and 1965. Bellon also photographed various Surrealist artists and their works, including Joan Miró.
Tumblr media
Tommy Ingberg is a Swedish photographer working primarily in black and white and is fond of creating surrealistic montages, which he often creates after photographing in his studio. His artistic creativity strives for simple, scaled back compositions with few elements, where every part adds to the story, but where there are still gaps for the viewer to fill, many of which produce a "surrealist" end result.

Manipulated Images - Inspiration
Tumblr media
Riccardo Bagnoli
Bognoli, quite a known photographer has adapted an image of a New York skyline into what is a rock concert. The photographer tends to edit two images together creating an unlikely story. This particular image focuses on scale as a large platform blocks the lower half of the city, blocking out the closes part to the camera prevents detail being noticed. The photographer want you to look at New York in a specific way, or maybe this is how he pictures or recognises New York a place of excitement and risk. I enjoy his work as most are pretty far out and unlikely making them humorous, which he may take offence too.

Staudinger + Franke
These guys or guy worked on a project called ‘for a better world’ in where he explores dramatic conclusions of global warming and climate change. This image exaggerates what may happen if we carry on polluting and neglecting. He has adapted then world to be completely water covered where a small sanctuary still exists. The soft beam lighting behind lights up then portion of land that has been settled on. The photoshop job on these images are brilliant as each texture is beautifully real, he expresses light and landscape so well.

Erik Alms
An image which explores comfort, two different images clearly placed next to each other as for the white line in the centre, the image isn't to harshly edited maybe some saturation but the main aspects of editing are the two images cropped and placed level and the same dimensions and the people hands who link the two image.
