Film review- Soul- 10/10
03/02/2021
I’m a big fan of pixar studios, mostly for their amazing animation, and this movie definitely hit the spot.
I didn’t know much about the movie going into it, and I was initially skeptical when he fell into that bloody hole and became the blue blob- I really thought that was how the rest of the movie was going to be. I was so wrong.
I absolutely loved all the fun concepts, from the personality creator to the hippie astral travellers! I thought that was absolutely brilliant and hilarious.
It was perfectly poignant yet light, and the music was absolutely brilliant. I was on the verge of tears at the end thanks to the lovely poignant message it portrayed. Absolutely one of my favourite animations to date. 10/10

Film review- the invisible man- 9/10
03/02/2021
I really really enjoyed this.
As always, Elisabeth Moss' performance was brilliant, she's just a bit of a living legend really.
There's not many occasions where I watch a movie with absolutely no prior knowledge of its plot. This was one of them and I'm extremely glad I didn't. I chose the film due to the good review and moss- It didn't need more research to prove its worthiness to me!
Anyway, not knowing anything about the storyline massively increased the tension, and made me question her sanity at points. Thumbs up for that! This has helped me realise that although I do like to know a bit about what the film is about before I waste 1-3 hours of my life, it's sometimes better to take the risk and just see how it goes.. the film will be so much better (given its a good one). I've read in other reviews that apparently spoilers were revealed in its trailer, which is a shame.
Anyway, at the start of the film I was thinking, yep I know how this is going to go. Victim has shit happen to her, everyone else thinks she's crazy, figure out she's not crazy, justice served, the end. And to be fair, that's kind of how it went. However you completely forget this linearity due to the cleverly crafted twists and turns that have you on the edge of your seat. Or bed, in my case. As a lazy little shit, I lie in bed with my large monitor by my side. However in the last 30 minutes of my seat I was sat upright with my eyes fixated on the screen. I haven't felt that engrossed in a narrative for a while.
I watched the green mile the other day which was the most recent brilliant film I've watched. Obviously you can't compare the two- completely different genres. However this film kept me utterly hooked till the end. This is absolutely a thriller done well and I really hope to see more of Moss in this genre. 9/10.
Ps. When I love a film the reviews tend to be longer lol sorry

Series review- Undone- 10/10
02/02/2021
I binged this all in one day. I had no idea Bojack Horseman’s creator  Raphael Bob-Waksberg had written something else, to be honest.
Visually, it’s absolutely stunning. They use this weird type of animation that i’ve never seen before, which involves filming real life actors and drawing over them to create a realistic but somewhat discomforting image. This type of animation was absolutely perfect to the disorientating nature of the series.
It also has a fabulous cast including the one and only Bob Odenkirk (that’s Saul Goodman in layman’s terms). That alone is enough to watch it. haha.
Seriously though it deals with some amazing, important topics and I was sad to get to the end so quickly (Only 8 30 minute episodes, which I binged all the way through). I’m hoping season 2 comes as quickly as possible! 10/10

Film review- FUCKING BERLIN- 4/10
02/02/21
Fuck me- this movie was really quite bad. BUT, it was kind of enjoyable too.
It was one of those movies that make you physically laugh, because they’re so bad. The first instance this happened to me in this film was when Lidya went down on the girl (I can’t even remember her name..) in the lecture and noone noticed or saw, even though she was being obnoxiously loud?!
Are we supposed to feel sympathy for this character? Because I don’t. After research, I learnt that it is based on a true story.. whatever.
Anyway, she supposedly has no money, and she can’t apply for the BaFog because she’s Italian. Regardless, she comes from a middle class family?!
She makes every single bad decision on her own accord and hurts many people in the process. Maybe the film is supposed to portray a bad person? However I don’t think it’s clear what the film actually means at all.
However I did like the Berlin party scenes. They were cool. It was also really easy to understand with my C1 German, which is probably testament to how bad the script was lol- I’ve watched dark in German and that was impossible to follow in comparison. 4/10

Film review- BLOW  7/10
31/01/2021
I really enjoyed this movie- but probably more because I love Johnny Depp and also, because it piqued my interest in the real life story.
It took a very typical form of a drug dealer’s life story movie- all fun and partying and then the rest of it very depressing. However I guess that’s an accurate portrayal?
In these reviews I’m going to state the part that stands out to me most, for whatever reason. For this movie, it was when George and Mirtha were in the car and Mirtha was shouting at him, completely coked up and then snitched him into the police. I got really angry at this! I thought Mirtha was portrayed as a complete c*nt in this and I realllly disliked her character, so I was surprised that the real life Mirtha enjoys a relatively successful career and isn’t hated?!
I really loved the father character and it was nice to see a baby Emma Roberts cameo. 7/10.

FIRST POST- An Explanation
Hey, thanks for reading.
I’ve decided to start this page to document my thoughts on everything I want to document. I’ve always wanted to have a space to rate and review things, experiences, etc.. from a subjective perspective, with a personal flair.
Therefore, these reviews may be swayed by my thoughts, emotions and opinions at the time of writing. That way, if I ever come back to these things, I can see if and how my perception has changed.
For each review I will put the date of writing, a ranking out of 10, and a brief justification of the ranking.
