But I recently reread Andromeda Unbound and oh god, chapter 6, when Makino finally reaches Shanks and they are trying to touch each other and than that ass Akainu comes ...that scene is so heartbreakingly beautiful ❤️ I have a folder with ideas about what I would like to draw from your stories and that scene is definitely in there

But his back was straight, and it would have taken more than a dishevelled appearance and chains to remove the air he had about him, which held the whole crowd captive now as they watched him cross the ballroom, and that almost made it look like the guards escorting him were there on his orders.

She’d never seen this side of him, had only ever caught small glimpses of that pirate, in fleeting expressions and the occasional photograph, but never like this.

He looked like a king.

Shanks and Makino in chapter 4 of @missmungoe 's Andromeda Unbound in which breaking one's husband out of jail is simultaneously hilarious and gut-wrenching AND an opportunity for an extended family reunion, which I will probably never recover from, so cheers to you for making me cry, friend!!

As much as I loved seeing the crew in the latest chapter, there was something missing, or rather, someone. And because a lot of my stories feature her going out to sea, have some Shanks x Makino and the Red-Hair Pirates! Or if you will, the Shanties version of chapter 1054<3

Times they are a-changin’

“Isn’t it about time to go and claim it?” he asked, his musing tone touched with the barest hint of an edge, as his eyes lifted from the cup. “The One Piece.”

A gentle snort shattered the weighty quiet, dragging all their eyes up the steps leading from the main deck, to the little figure that had emerged, standing with her hands on her hips, her laugh bubbling out of her with the words, “What was that?”

Cup still held to his lips, “What?” Shanks pouted. “I was trying to be cool!”

Walking down the steps, her graceful gait didn’t stutter, despite the churning waters pulling on his ship. She was handling the choppy sea with admirable fortitude, although Shanks noted the direction she’d come from, and wondered if she’d just finished puking.

He bit back the glib urge to ask, as she came up to the table where he was sitting with Ben. Bare-footed in rolled-up breeches and one of his oversized shirts under her flower-embroidered bodice, he had a mind to point out how much like a pirate she looked. Or at the very least, a very cute vagabond.

“Look at you,” Makino tutted, as a small hand lifted to card through his hair, pushing it back from his brow. The humidity was doing wonders to it. “You’d think there were cameras around, the way you’re strutting. And what is going on with your hair today?”

Makino as Queen Peregrine in @missmungoe’s Andromeda Unbound aka one of the most fun stories I’ve ever read, which includes all the sneaking heist shenanigans, prison-breaks, treason, and sheer love any interrupted execution of one’s husband should have😊

...okay, now is the right time for me to declare that the only daughters of Shanks I will ever accept are Emmy, Aya and Rowan.... Uta who?!

Honestly, I really don’t care what happens in that new One Piece movie. For me, the only canon story for Shanks is what @missmungoe has created and will create. I rest my case.

So this was inspired by @missmungoe‘s wonderful stories and youtube compilations of kids saying the funniest things :-D I just couldn’t get it out of my head, so I had to draw it. This is how I would imagine his children reacting to that situation with the sea king - three very different reactions. That whole family lives rent free in my head. I also had to add Garp.

I have the overwhelming urge to make a public declaration and I think she deserves this – so here it goes.

In 2010 I read this wonderful, charming, well-written fanfiction that so thoroughly captured my heart that even 10 years later, it still hasn’t let me go. That one story has evolved into its own little universe with AUs, expansions, prequels, sequels and different points of views. And with every story it grows even more wonderful and I simply can’t get enough.

The author of these stories has put so much work and time into this. And even more – she’s put so much emotion into it and you can tell. I know she’s had ups and downs with these stories – there are so many silent readers out there and reviews are so important – but there’s also a really dedicated group of readers who, like me, can never stay away. And I guess, I can speak for us and tell you that we couldn’t appreciate more what you do for us. I am so glad you continue writing even though it can be so tough at times!!

These stories have been with me through so many chapters of my own life – I couldn’t imagine being without them. They comforted me when I was far away from home and literally taught me important life lessons about relationships and self-love. But maybe most important of all, they continue to give me such a boundless and immeasurable joy! I hope you know how much this means to me – to be able to feel like this - to jump around in my flat in happiness because you’ve updated. Adult life can be so difficult and your stories lighten up my life!

You and your stories have been with me for almost a third of my life – and I really hope you’ll be there with me for the next ten years – honestly, how about the rest of my life? 😉 I am so addicted to reading your stories, I don’t think I could function properly without them.

So, I guess this is me trying to say thank you for making my life happier. I appreciate you and your stories so very much!

One good thing about quarantine - I’ve finally got time to reread all of @missmungoe fics again (highly recommend if you need to cheer yourself up).

I’ve been cleaning this weekend and I found this cover of an old CD that inspired me and I just had to turn it into Shanks and Makino.

I imagine this scene could be happening sometime toward the end of Heed the Siren’s Call or maybe in Sea Songs both by the lovely @missmungoe.
