Been reading some of @missmungoe fanfics in AO3 with Shanks and Makino. I absolutely love that the few I've read, if there's Mihawk involvement, he automatically just gets along quick with Makino.

(I also adore Buggy's interaction with Makino in that spin off AU with Sabo getting to Makino first before Rayleigh)

Words can't describe how batshit insane this story has been making me for HALF A DECADE. I vividly remember hearing about this idea for the first time and to this day I am still in awe and shock and wonder at how you're pulling it off!!! I give you: The Navigator’s Map of Shanties for the Weary Voyager!

So my husband got the idea to make a timeline map of my Shanks x Makino series ("Shanties" for short), so that readers could better see how the different fics are connected, and while I should have been prepared, knowing full well how brilliant he is, I was not prepared for the end result. I mean look at it!!!

Some descriptions of key fics and planned updates below! The fics are listed in the recommended reading order on AO3, but feel free to chart your own course! Okay but Shanks going for a walk at Foosha, and Luffy following him because he knows Shanks will be leaving soon, and he needs snacks so Makino also goes after them with a basket full of food.

And suddenly they are having a picnic outside of the village, near a cliff as they watch the sun set behind the sea.

And Luffy and Shanks are banting with each other and Makino is laughing at them.

Soon enough Luffy is sleepy and clinging on Shanks' back and when he looks up Makino is looking at them with adoration.

And for a moment, Shanks allows himself to dream they are his family, and he can stay in Foosha and raise Luffy and make Makino smile like this every day.

And they don't say a word, but they go back to the bar holding hands, with a snoring Luffy on his back, and both of them go put Luffy to sleep and give him a kiss goodnight.

thinking about shanks and makino being protective of each other and of luffy. like they have their differences and shanks is dysfunctional but if makino was ever in trouble you know he'd come running. if something ever happened to shanks you know she'd take care of him. and they'll always be united on wanting the best for luffy, even if that looks different for each of them. they'd both die for that kid. idk im just. they're THIS ok

there are problems but the love is there. idk they're so special to me.

There's getting along with your husband's friends and then there's Makino, who keeps stealing all of Shanks' friends. Mihawk seems to like her more than him, Buggy keeps ranting to her, and Ben treats her like a queen.

For @genomynt as a gift for this year's @op-secret-santa! Shanks has received a photo of Makino with their child during a long stretch at sea, and hangs it on a wreath on the ship. We see him as if looking through that wreath, spying on this one little private moment - and then in the foreground, we can see the image from the front.

@missmungoe you were so right to write fics about Makino joining the Red-Hair crew cause she really has that pirate trait of stealing.

Stealing Shanks' friends and crews that's it.

Bonus Boa Hancock and Makino, in that one shot where Mihawk and Buggy fetch Makino from her bar and she manages to 'stand in' as Red Hair Pirate representative of sorts to make alliance with Hancock.

Love love Makino and Hancock interaction in that fic where Shanks is about to get executed.

Makino unintentionally getting on the good sides of some dangerous pirates is so funny.

A frenetic sound was clearly heard from the deck of a large ship, that was sailing leisurely, with a jolly roger hanging at the top of the mast. The sound had earlier aroused the curiosity of the creature that had been circling the hull to observe. The creature poked its head out of the water carefully because it didn't want to be seen. The eyes of what turned out to be a woman lit up when she heard the energetic and pleasant singing of the people on deck. She swam a little closer following her curiosity.

Soon a man was seen leaning against the railing of the ship, with his hand holding a bottle of liquor. The man seemed to be enjoying a conversation with someone, and occasionally let out a laugh. Without the man realizing it, the figure, which half of its body was in the water looking at him admiringly.

Until the man realized he was being watched, his eyes were instinctively drawn to the gurgling water as if something had been there before.

"Did you see something jumping over there, Beck?" Asked the man without taking his eyes off the water.

The person being questioned bent his head to look in the same direction, then shook his head.

"I didn't see anything. I think you're drunk."

The red-haired man laughed and took a sip of the liquor in his hand.

The figure of a woman from earlier popped her head back up to the surface, staring at the ship that continued to move forward still with the cacophonous sounds on it now faintly audible to her.

For the very first time she felt so interested in what was aboard that large ship. The feeling of wanting to know more about the red-haired man who attracted the most attention from her.

I’m kind of latched to the theory that Shanks is the descendant of a celestial dragon and was saved by Roger. I’ve also been kind of inspired by Kuma’s backstory. I think Shanks would have mixed feelings about having a family when he knows it would put them in danger. Don’t know where I’m going with this little comic I guess I just wanted to draw some drama 😅
