As is tradition on the last day of my vacation, today I went to this local deli & bakery that I rarely get to go to because of the distance from where I live/work and it only having limited weekday lunch hours.

It is a fabulous hole in the wall place, with the kind of deliciously greasy hot sandwiches that start to lose their structural integrity by the second after they hit the tray. One of those sandwiches that you can't set down once you pick it up because 1) it's fucking delicious and 2) it will turn into a pile of unmanageable meat and vegetables.

I eat it with both hands like an absolute barbarian, always failing to finish before it comes apart. They have utensils, but I always end the meal eating it like finger food.

Then I clean myself up, grab some freshly baked in house cookies from their bakery next door, and then go on my way, ready to face work again.

Like, I cannot understate the hot mess slice of heaven that this sandwich is. Nor the depraved vulgarity and lack of etiquette I display when eating it in public. It is my favorite vacation tradition.

I need everyone to know that the ship Götheborg, the world's largest ocean-going wooden sailing ship, answered a distress call the other day.

Imagine waiting for the coast guard or whatever to show up and instead a replica of 18th century merchant ship pulls up and tows you to the coast.

Okay so when I bought my current laptop it was back in 2021, and I transferred everything over from my old one except for my music library. It's a long story, summed up as "Sometimes computer stuff is scary, and the anxiety of losing data is paralyzing."

So I just...didn't have access to my personal music library for the next three years...UNTIL THIS DAY. I finally got my music library transferred to my current laptop (it took an embarrassingly simple like ten minutes, don't judge me), and I had forgotten that the considerable majority of said library is comprised of music from 2000-2010, back when Baby Rhino was younger, less tired, when her world was smaller and less complicated, and when the most stressful part of her life was graduating high school and starting college. For context, I joined tumblr in 2012 (I think? It might have been 2011). I am listening to my pre-tumblr days!

I am rediscovering the tracks of my adolescence, and the nostalgia is DESTROYING ME. The shuffle just tossed on a song from the Smallville soundtrack. I haven't watched Smallville in over a decade, but I just might start a rewatch to wring every last drop of this blissful nostalgic emotion out of it.

My depression is cured for tonight.

My first week-long vacation in 7 months, and I have spent 30% of it in a burnout coma and 70% frantically catching up on all the domestic household maintenance and house projects that have been building up over said 7 months.

Being on the finished side of those projects makes my brain feel so much better...but dadgummit I've only had like half a day of genuine relaxation and leisure. I have some fun planned this weekend, but I think today I shall do a wonderful amount of nothing to compensate for how productive I've been on this "vacation."
