Cool little detail I just noticed for the first time.
The holographic duel system that Siegfried created is based off the boxes they used to duel in the original manga.

How much do you think these ladies are getting paid to help this dude with his "dueling surgeon" schtick?
Going to the tournament with him, wiping his sweat, and even carrying him out on a stretcher after he pretends to die from losing a card game(this was not a shadow game).
You can definitely see the anime writers pushing the premise to ridiculous absurdities and leaning into the goofiness that would eventually produce early GX.

The occult elements in the original Yu-Gi-Oh! are mostly only known about and affect the inner circles of the protagonists, so it's pretty funny to have this one scene from a filler arc where the military approaches the protagonists and are like, "Hey, we know the world is about to end, but we can't help you because of tax reasons, sorry. We'll need to rely on your trading cards instead. By the way, Mr. Yugioh, my son's a big fan of yours!"

Kaiba really listened to Amelda's tragic backstory about how his little brother died as a casualty of war and said, "Wow! That sounds like a fucking skill issue. I simply would not have let my little brother get caught in a bombing."
Like, geez Kaiba, the kid was 10 years old or something. What was he supposed to do about an unexpected air strike!?

When you're trusting in the heart of the cards and trying to look like a total badass by not even looking at your draws, but then the lame judge starts acting cringe and talking about how that's "against the rules" and "you're disqualified" and stuff🙄

In anticipation for finally beating Yugi, Kaiba programs a virtual colosseum filled with virtual people to cheer for him.
Kaiba stroking his own ego is nothing out of the ordinary, and I guess it could also function as an intimidation tactic, but there's something about this whole thing that just feels kind of pitiful and sad. Like, it just wraps around to seeming kind of pathetic of him.
Also, of course Kaiba ends up losing this duel.

Everything about this interaction is great, but I especially love how it indirectly confirms that all the attack names of the monsters are made up and really don't matter. You can say whatever you want. Duelists are just being extra by making up attack names and shouting them out.
