Forest Dawn. Wouldn't you like to be here now? I think we could all do with some 'Shinrin Yoku' - Forest Bathing - from time to time. It takes about half an hour for the stress to drop away and the natural calmness of the trees to seep into one's awareness. Once tuned in though, it's like being able to breathe again. Winter Trees. One of my favourite things. We had a stunning sunset - like this - last night with the radiant forms of the trees etched in sharp relief against vivid colours. No camera on Earth can capture the intensity of blacks against the sunset... but we photographers try anyway.

Rhinefield Forest Drive in the New Forest in Hampshire is one of the more splendid woodland spectacles in the UK. Planted in the 1850's, most of the trees are very young still. These Douglas Firs can grow for a 1,000 years and to over 300 feet tall - they'll be amazing to see in 3023!
