Close reading....
I thought i liked the book The Woman in Cabin 10, but now as I'm doing my paper this book makes me so angry. The more research I do the more I discredit not only the book but even some of my views. It is a very interesting experience.

Woman in cabin 10
So i want to do my paper on this book and was looking at a little fan fiction and someone wrote this and it hit me hard so i wanted to share. I never really realized how much the ending really did not explain things and it is left up to the reader to figure it out, so here is an outcome that is very plausible that i hadn't thought of written by a fan.
Here is what I think. I think Carrie was the mastermind. I think she targeted Richard when she worked in the club. She proves she was coming bc she admits to studying Anne's mannerisms. Yeah.. Richard was still guilty bc he went along with it... But I think Carrie let him think he was running the show, all in the mean time targeting the money. More evidence points to her being tough and ruthless rather than meek and scared of Richard. Why wouldn't Richard just have killed lo right away. He didn't need her. Carrie needed her to tell the story of how guilty Richard was. Anyway, that is my theory.

The end of cabin 10
I felt like the book tried to hard to keep us guessing. I did not understand the confusion of it was suicide or who the first body was, and Los clothes that where found to make everyone think she was dead. I was following the story up to this point, but was disappointed with the conclusion. I thought the last sentence was clever but necessary.

The Women in cabin 10
So I finished the book but will try my best not to give anything away. In the first part the drinking of the main character was hard for me to connect with. Even with the anxiety of the break in the heavy drinking as a sort of coping method was off putting. I felt it was very inconsistent when using her mental health issues to propel the story.

Satisfied
I found the ending to the Phantom of the Opera very satisfying. I liked that they explained how Eric accomplished everything. I really liked how they explained his voice and how he could throw it around. That scene was probably my favorite part of the whole book. It gave clarity to the whole book and broke the magic. The ending reminded me a lot of the Disney version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Raoul
I am rooting for Raoul at the moment. I think he has her best interest at heart. I agree that he does worry about status and other things that to us shouldn't be considered when you love someone, but i think that is just apart of the time period.
Eric has only known her for 3 or so months and treats her like his property. Although he claims to do the things he does out of love, i do not think that excuses how he takes advantage of the Angle of music story her dad use to tell her.

Phantom thoughts
I like the language of the text. It draws you in without being to “flowery” and confusing. I have a little trouble keeping up with all the characters but I have the most important people down.
Is Eric a real person? He seams to have superhuman powers to keep Christine as trapped as he does. This has also only been going on for 3 months yet he has been haunting the opera for lot longer than that. How does someone manage to get away with stunts like this including murder for so long??? I am only at chapter 9 and have so many unanswered questions its killing me.
Is the angle of music, the ghost, Eric, and the good genius all the same person?

The articles talk about how vampire books, movies, and shows are directed at females more than anyone. I think that is great, to get a female perspective and it opens up the conversation to what women can really accomplish My issue is the way Bella Swan is portrayed. I don’t understand why she couldn't be a strong independent women and still be saved by a vampire and fall in love.
Abstinence porn, really? Abstinence is a self-enforced restraint from indulging in bodily activities that are widely experienced as giving pleasure. Porn is sexually explicit videos, photographs, writings, or the like, produced to elicit sexual arousal. So how do you combine these two things into something new?

Throughout the Twilight, Bella is constantly described as fragile and breakable. Much of the physical interaction between Bella and her male counterparts shows a loss of control or even a willing relinquishment.
It is a recognizable theme in teenage literature- an outcast, unpopular protagonist, at odds with the world around her, and I understand why it become as popular as it did But in Bella Swan, Stephenie Meyer has created a character that openly wallows in self-pity and self-loathing,and does not have her grow out of that, as a young adult would in life.
She remains a passive, stagnant, character who, every so often, momentarily jerks into life- but only when it is required of her by her male counterparts. Bella flounders helplessly, absorbing blame that isn’t hers to claim, until a male character makes a decision that she dutifully follows.
I really wanted Bella to take charge and be her own hero even if it is for a guy, but even when she tryes she is turned into the victim again and has to be saved.

The attraction in Twilight is not very deep. She is attracted to him because he is designed to be attracted to, bright, strong, and perfect. He is attracted to her because he couldn't read her mind. He only listens to her because he hasn't had to listen to understand someone when he can just read there minds. learn to be nice and patient with an abusive partner, and as long as you remain so, he will change his behavior and transform into a Prince or change yourself to meet his needs. It doesn’t matter that he’s throwing things at you, locking you up in a room, not letting you eat without him,or that him and his family could kill at any moment if they feel the need he “loves you”... you just need to tame him.
