made myself mad again thinking about writers who Miss The Point and how Bane was only on venom for like ~6 months in the comics but some writers decided it's his whole personality and he's just an Arkham Roid Rhino even though he passed the vibe check and didn't even go to Arkham even though his attorney begged him to plead insanity and go because he wouldn't face charges and he said absolutely not they're my crimes they're my charges they caught me slippin and that's on me and then not only stayed OFF of venom for the remainder of the pre-reboot comics but also actively destroyed networks that developed and distributed it, and then directly because of Batman's repeated radical compassion, dedicated his life to doing what he believed was right (even if it still involved murder) and actively protecting people he believed were innocent and helping people he thought needed help. Because he promised Batman he would do better. BeCAUSE OF BATMAN SHOWING HIM THAT WAS AN OPTION.

"Whats gotten into you?"

"Time, Wayne. Time enough to examine the peculiarity of fate."

He is angry, in a way that betrays his exhaustion. His lack of options.

"I have been thinking a great deal about you, and I. How I came to cross paths with you, because the first human companion I had claimed the Bat-Man was king of what only a Gotham native could call Heaven. How, before even his mad ramblings, I was plagued with dreams and waking nightmares of a Demon Bat who stood between me and my destiny."

He has not been to the city in a very long time. And he looks over it now, from the scaffolding of a building on the skyline, part wondering why anyone would spend their life here, part homesick for the bleak and grey of it.

"How the first woman who made me feel anything at all, I would come to learn, was wrapped around your finger long before I met her. How her father had chosen you to uphold his legacy before he offered your rejected crown to me."

"Before either of us took our first breath, Wayne boots were on Santa Priscan soil, smiling in photographs with the woman who would be condemned to bear me alone in a cell. And when I tracked down my father, the man who left me there to rot, I learned he cursed your name before he'd ever heard mine."

"If I kill you, it will be your name they grieve. If I am reformed, it will be your name they praise. You are my prison, Wayne. There is nowhere on this earth I can go that the shadow of the bat does not drown me."

"...Unclear." He has not yet looked back. If there were anyone on the planet who had a chance to kill him without argument, it was Talia (or Scandal Savage -- who had already done so, more or less). The softness he was accused of having developed by the time he'd met the Six had come from somewhere. And he could not say with confidence that he would not allow the source to reap what she'd unintentionally sewn.

His 'unclear' covers her question and her comments. He supposes he should've known better than to think the Demon survived and the daughter did not. He should've known when Wayne had nothing to say about her death when he'd stayed at the manor all those years ago. He had not thought about it then. He had not dared to question it. It was easier, perhaps, to think she was gone.

He does move to heed her instruction. Bane is a natural leader, and more than comfortable navigating through dim lighting and bitter darkness. He knows shadowed stone as his own skin, and there is little his body can't handle, even without the venom. Best if the unstable stones strike him first. He gladly takes the lead.

"It was my intention to bury the pit, and trap those who would use it. I did not expect you to be using your fathers' tools without him." No League, no Ubu, no Ra's, and Talia thought he'd been sent to collect her. Was she using the pit as retaliation? Were the bombs here her own? His adrenaline begins giving way to reason, but even so there is too much information missing.

His hubris has failed him before, but his instincts have not. He chooses a direction, and motions for her to follow.

“What use do I have of his resources? He could just as easily kill me when the job was done, and I would expect no less.”

He watches her spin her blade and point it. For a moment, he thinks the father in daughter may yet have that in common. But she sheaths her weapon and, in that instant, he is taken by surprise twice in the same day. He thinks to speak again, but finds nothing to say. It is not a show of trust that her weapon is housed, but it is a statement of priority, and he does not mind turning his head to look back through the hole he’s made in the debris. The entrance he came through is barricaded by stone. He weighs the risk of the venom vials he keeps on his person. “Our way out seems blocked, then.” He answers. “I can-” He thinks of the venom again. He would truly rather die here than take it, but he would not bury her with him. He has grown that much, at least. “I can attempt to excavate it, and risk complete collapse. Or you can seek an alternative.”

"I wonder. If I moved to cut out your heart, would you let me, or would you put up a fight?" Though she curses her hands that grant death instead of healing, this is he who disrupted her dreams. To know that she haunted him would be a boon.

"No. Do not move the stones anymore than they have done so already. I will not die buried here with you." Not when she has a son who needs his mother. Not when she has her own life to live. "And I do not know why you appear as though you have seen a fucking ghost, kalb."

Annoyed, Talia retrieves the flask of water she kept clipped to her belt. It provides at least a little comfort in this dry place. She thinks, if he were on fire, she'd drink the rest. It's placed back where it belongs and the woman tightens the straps of her pack. Then they will continue on through the tunnels of this cursed place.

She takes his words at face value. Perhaps he lies. Perhaps he does not. "Then since you are the one who trapped us, you will be the one who leads us forward." In case any more fall, let he be the one struck first. "After you, Bane."

"Oh? So God is a woman after all." He is harvesting still, debating which pieces of the departed creature to keep; which might come in handy as their journey progresses. "The devil was too. I didn't get her name. I will ask, should you return me to her care."

"I have had no life before this." He replies, continuing to strip meat from the bone of a freshly hunted meal. "And if God is as wise as they say, he will not give me another."

"I better not." Talia has pulled the meat from her meal, each piece piled on a cloth on her knee. When she's finished, she chucks the bone far behind her, then eats the rest. "If you do, don't worry. I can kill you." ( They are not enemies now, but she does like to remind him what she is willing to do. )
