frankly dont get the mindsrt of "dont use my art as icons!!!!!!" i love when ppl use my art for icons. my biggest joy would be some rp blog using my drawing in an overdesigned graphic to introduce their muse. it would be an HONOUR!!!!

@elreyciervo the basic idea of etching is to scrape an image into a plate of some sort and then work ink into the grooves so you can print them! theres different ways to do this, you can use force to create the grooves physically or work with acid. what i'm doing here is a type of acid etching, these are zinc plates and the brown stuff is an asphalt laquer that's impervious to acid and will protect the surface of the plate where we don't want the acid to touch it

the convenient thing about this type of etching is that you don't have to use a lot of physical force, you take a needle with a pointy tip and just draw into the laquer once it's dry and hard. the needle takes off the laquer in super fine lines, and once you're done drawing you put the plate into an acid bath. because most of the plate is still covered in laquer, the acid only eats into those fine lines, meaning you get a printing plate with super fine, clean lines! this is what a plate will look like after the acid bath:

very fine lines, so you can do super detailed drawings + crosshatching!

to print you work ink into these grooves by first scraping it over the top of the plate and then carefully taking off the access by wiping it down with gauze. ideally you want the ink to only be in the grooves for a clean print

you them print on a slightly wet sheet of paper so it will absorb the ink from the plate. the result is a super clean, detailed print!
