Delicious! RinHaru Day

Food critic!Haru telling Chef!Rin to get his phone out of the frame, he has work to do 😤 (i.e., also taking a pic). His main job is to eat, though, so that is what he’s going to do.

The strawberry tart at Hazuki Cove does not look too good as of now, but with Haru’s feedback and Rin’s determination, the dessert will definitely be available on the menu for Valentine’s Day next year! Until then, Rin will be brushing up on his baking skills (and I, my watercolour skills 🙃🙃🙃)

Interpreting the theme, “eating”, a bit literally. My watercolour and brushes have all fallen into disuse for a number of years already, and I thought that was a shame and whipped them out for April Fools. But it definitely isn’t my best medium, so I struggled quite a bit. I would like to challenge myself in a year or so by revisiting something similar and hopefully do a better job then 🙈 Happy April Fool’s Day, everyone!

Rinharu Week - Day 8: Shoujo Shenanigans    ↳ The pool is empty...

The Pool is empty, but Cherry Blossoms.

“It’s empty…” Haru said in a disappointed tone. Why would Rin lead him here on the promise of a swim only to be let down. Or did he know the whole time that the pool here was empty of water.

Rin frowned, “I know and before you say, I had no idea it was abandoned. Last time I saw this place, it was operational. Never knew they’d shut it down.”

Haru sighed and grabbed his clothes off the floor before beginning to re-dress. “It’s okay, Rin. So, we can’t swim what shall we do?” 

“I’ve got an idea! But first,” Rin said and pulled him into a kiss.

“What have you got up your sleeve?” 

Rin shrugged. “I can’t give all my secrets away, Haru.” 

Haru decided not to press whatever Rin had planned would turn the day around. But the quick pull of him into a kiss? Had Haru flustered— where had it came from? He’d missed all the signs or simply thought Rin had the heart of someone else.

Before long they’d found themselves outside the facility, evening sun beginning to set as cherry blossoms hung from the sakura tree. It was truly magical and seemed the perfect setting for Haru to ask that magic question, was Rin in love and with him?

“Let’s go!” Rin yanked Haru by the arm quickly interrupting his thoughts. 

“Okay, okay,” Haru huffed and followed Rin down the sidewalk. It was late and didn’t they have nationals soon, it wasn’t time for fooling around. 

Haru found himself being led through Samezuka academy’s doors. What was Rin doing? Offering Iwatobi a peek at their training, team secrets? Captain Mikoshiba wouldn’t allow Rin to bring an intruder to an official practice. 

“All right, close your eyes, “ Rin instructed. 

Haru obliged and followed Rin but the familiar smell of chlorine wafting up toward him told Haru where they were. The Samezuka pool, if there was water Haru could also feel it it’s presence, the want to jump in and feel it against his skin.

His eyes flickered open to the pool water covered with cherry blossoms, pink petals floating atop the calm surface. It reminded Haru of the same day at Iwatobi high, but the rain had washed them out before he could even dive in. 

Haru’s eyes welled with tears as he looked at the water. He’s sure Rin wondered how he hadn’t jumped in already. That Haru wasn’t the same Haru, but really he was admiring the view of everything. 

“All this? Is this for me?” Haru asked 

“For us, Haru, after that day at Iwatobi high— the rain, everything ruined it. So I snuck in here after practice and re-created it all,” Rin smiled.

“Rin!, how will I ever repay you?”

“Maybe, with a kiss?” Rin said with a wink.

Obliging Haru pulled Rin toward him and collided their lips in a soft kiss, and it was right there that Haru knew he didn’t need to ask the question. He knew, Rin didn’t have the heart of another, he had his.
