Moments from Asterix and Obelix: The Big Fight (2025) I never knew I needed:
Respect for Obelix as a craftsman. His "menhir delivery" business is often treated as a running joke in the comics, but it's so refreshing to see him being good at something besides beating up Romans. I love that little sculpture he gives Asterix for his birthday and the way Asterix compliments him for it.
Toy Dogmatix! Little Obelix carved that himself and refused to leave it behind, even when being chased by a terrifying bully. That means that when Obelix grew up, he adopted the same kind of dog he wished for as a child, and even gave it the same name. How sweet is that?
Vitalstatistix and Impedimenta as childhood-friends-turned-power-couple. Nothing says chivalry like throwing your enemies to your wife so she can whack them with a rolled-up shield.
The gentleness in Apothika's voice when she asks: "Do you remember, my Pano?" (Panoramix is Getafix's original name.) Those two clearly have a history together. Whether romantic or platonic, I was thrilled to hear it. Everyone takes Getafix for granted as the wise old druid who brews the potion, but he must have been young once too.
I don't want to spoil the ending. Let's just say they really, really earn the name of "Indomitable Gauls".
I need to watch this series again.

if you are still taking requests: Asterix having wings. As in he has his winged helmet and also he has big wings (that work!) on his back
YEEESSSS LOVE THE IDEA! 🤍🤍🌿
I had so much fun drawing his big wings 🪶

Something I’ve been thinking about lately is this: As seen in the The Birth of Asterix, Asterix and Obelix are the youngest of their peers, this could explain why 9 times out of 10 the others never listen to him. It could be argued that they didn’t listen to him or took him seriously when they were kids because he was the youngest and that could have translated well into adulthood. Even after he became a warrior and saves their asses on multiple occasions.

One story I think would make for a good Asterix and Obelix comic is Asterix getting sick. It isn’t anything life-threatening if properly treated, but it is accompanied by a high fever and requires a lot of bedrest.
Getafix embarks on a short journey to fetch an ingredient that will help speed up the recovery process, leaving the village with a prepped batch of magic potion in case the Romans attempt another invasion. Before he heads out, he emphasizes to Obelix and Chief Vitalstatistix how extremely important it is that Asterix stays in bed and gets plenty of rest.
From there, hijinks ensue, including:
Villagers fighting over who gets to fill Asterix’s role as Village Warrior (complete with feathered hat) until he gets better
Obelix taking his bedside responsibilities too seriously, threatening anyone who even accidentally rouses Asterix with bodily harm
Asterix accidentally inflicting Obelix’s wrath on some poor unsuspecting person every time he feverishly stumbles out of bed
A Roman spy finding out about Asterix’s condition and Getafix’s absence, and deciding to take the opportunity to worm his way into the villiage to try and sabotage their potion ration so that they’ll be vulnerable to an attack.

I stumbled upon this on YouTube!
The original story of how Obelix fell in the magic potion, published in the newspaper in 1965. And narrated on the radio by Roger Carel himself ! (I couldn't find the year it's been aired on, but it might be 1965 too)
youtube
If you don't speak french I still recommend you to listen to a bit of it !
It has such a calm and relaxing feeling to it with the sound effects and the sweet narration. And it might be nice to practice your french !
Roger Carel has been the voice of Asterix for almost 50 years, he started voicing him on the radio, before the first movie was made. He voiced him for the last time in 2014, he got out of retirement specifically to play his role in Le Domaine des Dieux, before he passed away in 2020.
He is mythical in the french dubbing! Called "the man of a 1 000 voices" or "the pop of dubbing".
His voice is like sweet honey, I absolutely love his work. My favorite performance of his is Hercule Poirot in the old series "Poirot". But Asterix is a close one, and he is the original voice of this character !
Anyways I'm just rambling at this point but I just really love my beautiful first language and the artists we have.
