So I got this idea, but I'm taking a short break from writing and then working in a very special fic for a friend 💕 sooo here is some sort of outline ish thingy? Feel free to write a fic inspired by it lol, just tell me so I can read it

But like, imagine: Eddie is going full Ally™ during Pride Month now that Buck is out to him. And he's like one of those rainbow parents, buying everything with rainbows to show support (even rainbow things that aren't queer related)

And he keeps giving Buck these random things, like pride bracelets and buttons. And he has a bumper sticker on his own car. And he starts wearing rainbow friendship bracelets etc that queer kids on calls compliment all the time.

And it started as him showing 'how much of an ally' he is to Buck (who is like '🤷🏻‍♀️ oh nice a rainbow, but I already know you're supportive Eddie you don't have to buy me bisexual face paint') but ends up just being for himself because he likes these small things showing support and making other queer people feel safe

And then one day he and Buck are out somewhere with Eddie's car, maybe in the parking lot of a store or something, and Eddie's got multiple bumper stickers and he's wearing a few friendship bracelets the 118 kids made (he's got a whole collection of different pride flags) and they're bickering/bantering with each other, and a same sex couple comes up to them and go "you are such a sweet couple, it's amazing to see how openly you love each other" and Eddie goes

Oh.

Hmm.

And the couple is gone before he can reply and Buck just laughs about it because it's not new for him, people had assumed they were a couple for years, and people thought he was Christopher's dad all the time. At this point he barely blinks at the assumptions.

Meanwhile Eddie is like ... Huh... And he speed runs his whole life and- oh. Yeah. He totally had a crush on this boy in dance class. And that time he hung out with another boy on the baseball team might have been a date. And maybe the constant wish that he could hold Buck's hand is not as platonic as he thought. And now that he's thinking about it, the thought of getting to touch Buck all the time and kiss him sounds really fucking nice actually.

Buck notices Eddie being frozen and staring at where the couple went and gets a little worried, "you okay? Did that make you uncomfortable?"

And Eddie looks at him and hell yeah. This swooping feeling when he looks into Buck's eyes is not platonic at all because he does not feel like that when having eye contact with his other friends. How has he never noticed that?

But he has to answer, of course, because he doesn't want Buck to think Eddie feels uncomfortable. But his brain is still processing, so he kinda says something like 'I am actually very comfortable with it'

To which Buck is like 'ah, alright' thinking Eddie is just a really good ally who doesn't give a fuck about what someone else thinks about their sexuality or relationship

But Eddie keeps going like 'so comfortable that I actually want it'

To which Buck goes ??????

And Eddie has kinda processed it by now 'cause oh well. It's scary as fuck to be queer in the current political climate, especially with a religious family, but it's Buck. And being in love with Buck specifically isn't scary. He'll figure the rest out some other time. "I guess neither of us are allies" Eddie tells him. And then he gets into the car like he just said something about the weather, meanwhile Buck's jaw is hanging open and he needs a minute for his brain to turn back on and get into the car as well

(bonus if they just got out the car only to get back in so they can be buckandeddie at home because yeah, being new to being queer with the current political climate is probably not the best timing to have your first same sex kiss in public. Besides, at home he can see if being pressed against a wall by Buck's brick wall of a body feels as good as he thinks it does)

Reading this with my crispy lobster skin, I have to agree with the lady: listen to Athena, Buck! You think you applied enough, BUT NO YOU HAVE NOT.

During Nash-Grant vacation time, May drags Buck along to the beach because he knows how to surf and she wants to learn. Before Buck can run off and have fun, Athena yanks this man back under the umbrella so she can apply a hefty amount of sunscreen on. Bobby is already lathered up and sitting under the umbrella letting himself marinate. Buck sputters and shrieks at the cold being applied onto him.

"Wha-Athena! I already put some on!" He squirms and winces when Athena slaps his back for him to stay still.

"Don't joke with me, I saw that 30spf that aint gonna help you any," she tsks. "You and Bobby need 110spf or else you'll turn into a lobster."

"But-"

"Buck listen to her. Arguing is useless."

Buck can't argue when she applies some to his face carefully.

Nearby, and grandma chuckles at the sight. "You should listen to your mother, hun. She knows what she's doing."

Buck flushes when Athena smirks. She sets her hands on her hips. "Good. Now put some on your legs and you better sit there for fifteen minutes."

"What?? Why aren't they waiting!" Buck points to May and Harry. The boy throwing his sister across the water and laughing.

"They already applied on the way here. Now sit."

"Ugh." Buck throws himself on the towels and pouts. Bobby chuckles and ruffles his hair.

"Wanna show me a few moves on the board too?"

Buck instantly perks up. "Yes!'

The issue is that no house is good enough when the other option is Eddie and Christopher filling the house with the warmth he could never quite capture while they were in Texas. But he can’t keep delaying it if Eddie managed to sell a whole house in the time that Buck’s been looking for an apartment. Sure, it seems like Eddie did a great job making the place livable, enough to make the place appealing enough to get a few offers, but still, Buck needs to find a new place to live. And it’s making him think about all those feelings he’s been ignoring since Eddie told him he was looking for houses in El Paso. The level of hurt behind the decision to move in and let Eddie go without a fight. Because he didn’t think he could win. or Buck really really doesn’t want to move out.

Buck freezes. Eddie just winked at him. In front of the team. He needs to keep his cool before the rest of the team catch on.

They've been pretty good at keeping their relationship a secret—even though they have only been officially dating since last Friday—but it's things like this that cause them to almost slip up.

"Karen always says she'd love to be related to a comedian." Hen relays, breaking Buck out of his thoughts.

"Why?" Chimney asks.

She shrugs. "Not sure. I guess she just really loves comedy."

Bobby chuckles. "As much as we are all enjoying this conversation, we need to eat up just in case the bell—"

The bell starts to ring, interrupting him.

"...Rings." Bobby sighs as they all groan. "Alright, let's go."

They're heading back to the station after the call when Chimney brings it up again.

"You know," He begins. "If one of us were to be related to a celebrity, what's to say that they would wanna meet us?"

"What do you mean?" Buck asks, confused.

"Well, celebrities are celebrities for a reason; They're well-known. They might think we were making it up for attention or something."

Eddie furrows his eyebrows. "They're not all like that."

Chimney shrugs. "You never know."

"Okay, anyways," Hen says, trying to change the subject. "What are everyone's plans for our 48 off? I know I'm gonna take Karen out for dinner—it's been a while, and as much as we love our kids, we need to be kid-free for a bit."

"I'll babysit if you need me to!" Buck volunteers, smile wide on his face. "They can come to the zoo with us."

"Who's us?" Ravi asks, a slight smirk on his face.

"Me, Eddie, and Chris. Obviously."

"Oh, obviously." Hen parrots, eyeing the two. "Thanks for offering, Buckaroo, but they're gonna hang out with Karen's brother and his kids."

Buck's smile drops, but not completely. "Oh, okay! Another time then."

"Athena and I are going to relax and binge-watch The Bachelor. She's been obsessed with it ever since we got that call last year." Bobby chuckles, joining the conversation.

"I'm not sure that's something you should be telling people." Hen smirks. "She might not be happy about that."

Bobby's eyes widen.

"I'm kidding!" Hen laughs, causing everyone else to laugh as well.
