Daily Comic Journal: December 12, 2022: "And Just Like That, There's A Change In Direction."
In case you were interested in seeing it in color, this was a character I was coming up with, before they changed direction,

Daily Comic Journal: December 11, 2022: "The Painful Remains Of Yesterday."
I still can’t believe what happened yesterday morning. Falling out of the bed in reaction to a scary dream is bad enough, but hitting four parts of my body (not to mention hitting the hardwood flooring) and having one of them, my right knee, still hurting the next day, is one of those things that if it really didn’t happen I wouldn’t believe it could actually happen. Though, I guess in a gruesome…

Daily Comic Journal: December 8, 2022: "Finding A Needle In An Electronics Haystack."
I’ve still got all the vinyl albums and 45 singles that I’ve owned all my life. With my first purchases going as far back to the late 1960’s when I was a kid. Many people wonder why? With so much music available on line or in the cloud why still own these records? Why still listen to this “antique style of audio music”? Well, because I like to.

Daily Comic Journal: November 8, 2022: "Election Day In The Life."
This is another one of those comics where I hope that I don’t come across as a hypocrite. For nearly two years I’ve been depicting my plight as an unemployed man, desperately searching to work again so I can earn a living again. Yet, here in this comic I’ve admitted to buying this DVD, the documentary of The Beatles, “Get Back”. A DVD, that I really don’t need. A DVD which a person watching his…

Daily Comic Journal: November 7, 2022: "He Just Doesn't Understand How Things Are Different In Mississippi."
A friend of mine once asked me why I draw comics for the movies I see. Well, one thing I really enjoy doing is going to the movies and since my daily comics are about what I did that day I felt that I should draw it. Also, I really enjoy drawing comics based on the movies I see, it’s fun to do. I try (and I stress the word try) to do what the old Mad Magazine used to do, you know, draw a funny…

Daily Comic Journal: November 6, 2022: "The Dog Days Of ... November?"
If it sounds as if I’m whining too much about the unseasonal warm weather, I apologize. Yeah, I know, it’ll get cold and maybe even snowy before too long, but if people are allowed to complain about the cold and snow in the winter (when it’s supposed to be cold and snowy) then I’m gonna complain about the heat in the Fall when it’s not supposed to be hot. At least around this part of the country,…

Daily Comic Journal: November 5, 2022: "This Isn't Supposed To Be A Summer Task."
I guess one of the positive aspects of this house, where I’ve lived since 2018, compared to my last house, where I lived from 2001 thru 2017, is that my yard isn’t as big. So there’s less to mow in the summer and less to rake in the fall. Though I guess when it comes to raking it’s not really the size of the yard but the number of trees and while this is officially fall it’s hot enough to be the…

Daily Comic Journal: November 4, 2022: "Giving (Futile) Thanks."
I was going to go through my archives and link up previous comics but thought it might be a chore to do but…. Ah, what the hell, Here are a couple. From Monday, September 7, 2015 when I was out of work (age 54) and had interviewed for a Package Designer job with Victory Brewing. You can see the actual cards I made under the comic. From Thursday, September 28, 2018 when I was out of work (age 57)…

Daily Comic Journal: November 3, 2022: "Tooth Or Consequences?"
Hopefully these comics aren’t getting too down and depressing. Also, I realize some of my problems and situations may not seem as dire as those who are facing life or death. So if I come across as too whiney or perhaps I complain too much, I apologize, but I really can’t think of any other way to represent what I’m going through. Out of work with no health insurance and a medical situation (I’ll…

Daily Comic Journal: November 2, 2022: "Well, I Really Can't Do Anything About My Age."
This is one of those things you can’t do anything about, it’s totally out of your hands. I’m helpless about how others perceptions, especially when they’re interviewing you for a job, go into making their decisions about whether you’re capable of doing the job. A perception made not because of my experience, talents and ability but because of my age. Am I reading too much into an initial look?…

Daily Comic Journal: November 1, 2022: "Or Like Lucy Listening To Schroeder."
Another thing I liked and found unusual with this film is at the very beginning they listed the entire credits. Not just the actors, directors, etc… but they also listed every single member of the orchestra. Members who appear in the film and play on the soundtrack. I thought that was very unique.

Daily Comic Journal: October 31, 2022: "What Can Be Worse Than A Bagful Of Wet Candy?"
By the end of the night (and I’m sure because of the rain it was ended earlier than normal) I only had 25 trick-or-treaters show up. I felt bad that I couldn’t give comic books with the candy this year, but looking back on how it turned out this evening,I would have had a lot of comics leftover, just like all this candy I have left. Oh well, more chocolate snacks in November for me!

Daily Comic Journal: October 30, 2022: "I Expect There'll Be Some Dreadful Seasons On The Horizon."
I suppose that if the Pirates, Steelers and Penguins never win another championship in my lifetime that will bum me out, but you know, having watched those 13 championships and enjoyed them all as a fan (I happened to have been back in Pittsburgh the night the Penguins won their first Stanley Cup and got to scream and shout and go nuts, like fans do. I lost my voice for days) if I never see…

Daily Comic Journal: October 29, 2022: "A Very Needy Day."
Of the three things I point out in this comic, I can’t do any of that on my own. I suppose I could try to chop down that evergreen tree but I couldn’t remove the stump. I couldn’t properly install and construct the railing. There’s no way I could reach and prune the top of that tall front yard tree and I’ve trimmed that hedge before, but trimming isn’t enough. It needs to be completely removed.…

Daily Comic Journal: October 28, 2022: "I'll Go On The Interview, But Do I Really Want To Work There?"
I didn’t have room to get into the details of what Shorkey Auto has done to the area where the neighborhood I grew up at. He bought land around half of the neighborhood, removed all the trees and flattened the land to… park vehicles. I should point out that this hand is across the highway from his showroom and not attached to their lot. He bought land about a half a mile away on the other side of…
