Khaoyai family trip 2024 : A place to sleep

During this trip we stay at "Madee Pakchong resort"

I have heard of this place from my wife discovering it from Tiktok. It is quite new but well known for kids friendly. They offer a private pool villas. Each of the room has its own family size swimming pool.

Locate in the middle of the mountain , so the atmosphere is very good , cold breeze and freshness of air during Thailand's rainy season. There is nothing else better than this.

Khaoyai family trip 2024 day 3

17/7/2024 today is the last day of this trip. We started off by pack our things and check out. From Pakchong , Nakhonratchasima back to our home in Nonthaburi would take about 2.5 hours driving.

The last destination of this trip is "Wat Thep Phitak Punnaram" temple. It is located on the side of the highway road. Here is what you're going to see on the way to the temple

Inside the temple was very peaceful and serene atmosphere. The rain was just stopped so the air was very fresh. According to the locals , all the monks left the temple early this morning for their religious mission so we didn't have a chance talking with them.

Here is the highlight of this temple. We stand in front of the 691 stairsteps walk way up the hill to worship the white statue lord of Buddha

And finally here we are sitting in front of the great white statue of lord Buddha on the top of the hill. We recognized and reflect on his legacy preaching all the humankinds to understand

The true meaning of life

The true happiness

The true root of evil

Mindfulness and in depth self reflection

and then we left the top of the hill down to the ground with the same 691 steps. On the ground this cute peacock walked close to us as if wishing us farewell and safe journey back home

There was one wisdom I'd like to share with you. A 691 stair steps up , I thought I need to aware of every step I made . Not to fall , not to trip or I could seriously get injured. But on the way backdown , I needed to take more extra careful further.

The way down looked pretty much easier but rather more imminent fatal consequence. If the error happened that would mean game over.

Always put awareness in front of you , stay with you in every single daily action.

Khaoyai family trip 2024 day 2 (part 2)

The way out of our accommodation is a gravel road between local farmers fields embraced between the hill.

As an amateur smartphone photographer , I had to park the car somewhere safe to take photos.

The first stop today we went to a hidden Buddhist meditation monastery. The name is "Paa Khao Lorm"

It is truly secret , you can find very small information on the internet. Even you know Thai and try searching for information in Thai.

The name "Paa Khao Lorm" comes from

- Paa means forest

- Khao means mountain or hill

- Lorm means surrounded by

So you could say that it is a hidden Buddhist meditation monastery in the forest surrounded by mountains.

Here is the picture of main church.

This place has both monks and people living in separate area. They devote most of the time practicing meditation according to what the Lord Buddha has taught.

Next we visited Bonanza exotic zoo

Khaoyai family trip 2024 day 2 (part 1)

16/7/2024 waking up with slow walking in our pool villa. Last night was raining all night so the weather was lovely at 24 degree Celsius.

(For those you who haven't visited Thailand , 24 degree Celsius is very cold for us , for our average temperature is 29 to 34 degree Celsius 🥵)

After that we had our breakfast

Khaoyai family trip 2024 day 1

Today (15/7/2024) is the first day of my family trip to Pak chong , Khaoyai , Nakhon Ratchasima , Thailand

We started first stop at "Wat Phra Phutthabat"

A Buddhist temple. The highlight of this temple is a statue of foot step of lord Buddha held in a sacred main church here.

However , we respect the solemnity and sacred atmosphere inside so I didn't take photos inside

After that we took a 300 stair steps up the hill to this sacred area known to be a natural cliff with an image of meditating lord Buddha here

Then above this place there was a rocky walkway uphill .. it was a walk way of ancient Thai and Chinese people those doing a walking meditation between hills. There was also a cave that great Buddhist monks of the old time went to do a silent deep meditation and stay there overnight. I decided not to take photos inside the cave but i took photos of surroundings

Lost in serene wood : A Journey to St. Anne's Catholic Church , Chachoengsao, Thailand

In 2009 it was my last year in medical school. I was assigned to be a medical student at primary hospital in a rural area in the province of Chachoengsao. I did my medical practice under supervision of senior doctors.

Living and working at that hospital was easy. I had my own private doctor room to live , many cheap good food around in the morning time while the hospital prepared me a lunch and dinner everyday.

By that time I was looking a nearby Catholic church to attend a mass and found one in a website of Bangkok diocese and the information was outdated and left unattended.

I had to guess which way to go for that time google map wasn't on our grabs like the present day.

Imagine , you drove a car 20 kilometres away from your home , ventured deep into the forest where you had never been there before was quite challenging.

These 2 pictures were what you saw along your way to do your quest finding a church.

In the middle of the forest , the serene catholic church stood in the middle of this forest.

You are surrounded by a forest , green trees everywhere around you. Birds tweeting. Serenity

2011 Thailand great flood - 03

After we left the Franciscan monastery. We visited local catholic school. "Phravisuthiwong school"

Their main church "The holy family church" was during renovating at that time. On the both sides of the church were underwater

It was during an emergency school closure due to the great flood

Many volunteers gathered on that day to prepare the supply and distribute for those in needs

2011 Thailand great flood - 02

Next we visited the order of Franciscan monastery. "Garden of Gospel Peace Retreat Centre"

The outside area was totally flooded , the cleric couldn't get out to get supply. Inside they also have a sick home taking care of end stage HIV patients We supported them the way we could , pray together and bid them farewell

They are also many small children of the poverty communities in the vicinity eating together with clerical staffs. But I decided not to take their photos concerning for their privacy

2011 Thailand great flood - 01

In 2011 , it was one year after my medical school graduation. It was my first jobber working experience. It was very good feeling to control my own life and being independent.

Around September 2011 , the great flood came putting many parts of the city in the situation that never happended before. That time I was working as a general doctor at the Camillian hospital Bangkok. The hospital belongs to the order of the Camillian priest where it's main mission to aid the sicks.

One morning, I received a call from the cleric office that they needed a volunteer doctor on a way to aid suffering flood victim. I took the job and jumped right into it. The journey was not easy. We sat on the top of the supply truck making it way through the current.

We visited Camillian Home for Children Living With Disabilities , Lat-Krabang, Bangkok to fill further supply and got a blessing from superior priests.

Then we visited nearby communities , give a supply bag for living. As a doctor , I treated simple diseases according our limited supply

Xavier hall church 's room for rent

Xavier hall church belongs to the order of Jesuits priest , serving as a head quarter of their spiritual administrating and mission in Bangkok.

They provide the mass every evening at 18.30 to 19.00 and Sunday 7.00 , 9.00 and 17.00 Inside the area of the church also have the refugee office aiding immigrants and also have 10 rooms for rent. I've been staying there for almost 10 years during my time of medical specialty training. The cost of the room is being donated to the church foundation for further charity missions

These two photos were taken on 30/1/2017 the last day of our stay. For our son was born on 27/1/2017 and we were moving to our new home.

Living in the church since 2007

In 2007 , I was a 4th year medical student. That time I rent a room inside a local church at the "Victory monument" , the heart of Bangkok.

The outside world was super busy and crowded in contrast to the inner sanctuary. Travelling was very comfortable , you can take the "BTS sky train" or bus to go anywhere. The name of this Jesuits church is "Xavier hall church"
