🍓 Royal Survival Episode 5 Recap!
To be completely honest, I’ve never really been into these filler episodes. They’re not really worthwhile. or maybe I just love seeing people get eliminated — is that mean of me? Anyways, it’s a good chance to get a taste of the girls’ personalities off the stage, or at least what they project off the stage.
First of all, isn’t it a bit cold to be going to a waterpark in November? It’s like the producers want the girls to get sick or something. I know they said that the water is heated and all, but really? They were probably just trying to show of their bodies to the creepy male fans out there, which is disgusting in itself, to be completely honest. They’re already finding a way to sell these girls, but I guess it’s just business, right?
Jihyun was the prettiest this episode! She was so cute during the watergun fight. I think she has a lot of reverse charms! She has a lot of talent on stage, and a sort of strong charisma? I never really imagined her with a cute concept, because I always thought that she would suit a strong or a sexy concept more. But this episode changed my mind! She’s adorable when she’s not on stage, and it seems like she’s really fun, like I would want her to be my friend! Jihyun kind of has a choding body though, which is unfortunate, because everything else is pretty. Imagine if she had a pretty body like Lisa’s or Eunae’s, then she would be unstoppable!
Speaking of Eunae, I want to say that she is absolutely amazing out on that volleyball court. She’s really a girl crush, though I guess we shouldn’t have been surprised with her long limbs and all. Aren’t tall people always good at volleyball? She looks pretty while she’s doing it too, which is more than I can say for some of the other girls out there, no tea no shade. I hope she debuts in the group so that we see her at the ISAC, wouldn’t that be fun? If they have three other girls who are at least competent at running, I can see Eunae really leading them to victory in the relay! The girls usually don’t do too well in that anyways.
It’s funny that Jiwon and Rose decided to reenact the Titanic. It was cute, wasn’t it? I know I said they seemed fake, but maybe they aren’t! But remember how Rose from the Titanic let go at the end, even though she said she wouldn’t? Hmm....a little suspicious! Funny how movies can mirror real life sometimes! I’m not implying anything, I’m just saying as an observation!
Tell me again why I saw Lisa’s face everywhere? The cameras were always following her, and at every turn she was smiling at the camera or laughing about something or they were showing her body. Which is nice, but do you know what would be even nicer? If she learned to hold a note on stage for once. I have to admit, she has really pretty foreign features — no wonder everyone at the park was staring at her. I feel bad for the girls who were walking next to her. I guess if anyone is going to be a visual in the group, it would be Lisa, but it’s going to suck when everyone hears her MR removed.
Maybe Seolhyun just isn’t really my type, but I feel like her personality is a bit bland? She’s a pretty girl, but I don’t think she would have had much of a presence if they didn’t edit the swimming thing in. Of course they would, since she’s So Jisub’s favorite and all. They probably looked especially hard for edits that would paint Seolhyun in a good light, just so everyone will like her when she inevitably makes the group. Boring. Next.
Whereas Jihyun, Eunae, and Lisa seemed like they chose to do more active things, it seems like Dawon, Seolhyun, Hyojin, and Seoyoung aren’t as active, as they chose to relax in the spa instead. I can’t blame them, because that’s probably would I would do too. After so many days of practicing and performing, a bit of relaxing would be welcome. I heard spas are good for your skin too, and I bet under all of the makeup that they have on their skin is just awful.
I’m not surprised that everyone got their good sides shown on camera. This is the future girl group that will debut under Royal, and they obviously wouldn’t want the public to have a bad opinion of them already. On another note, where were Sooyoung and Soojung? The maknaes didn’t have much screentime at all, and I hardly saw their faces in the entire episode. I wonder why that was?
But surprise! The new girl group name is Luxe! Prettier than I expected, considering some of the other group names under the company (H.A.M....really?). And we have an acting episode next time! I wonder who will be good at this, because idol always inevitably try to get into acting, and it’s always a bad idea, but we’ll see!

🍓 Royal Survival Episode 4 Recap!
I don’t know about you, but I thought that episode was absolutely wild! I love when things like this happen, and I love surprises. This one wasn’t great, but it’s always nice to have a bit of excitement in these shows! I have to say, I’m not exactly surprised about the outcomes of this episode, but I’ll get into why later. For now, let’s start the recap!
FIRST MATCH: YUBIN VS ELLY!
I was super surprised that Yubin knew how to do those aerial things! I didn’t think she had time, knowing her other extracurricular activities! Hopefully she isn’t lighting up before performances, because then she could really fall and hurt herself! But she looked pretty, and it was pretty scary to watch her almost fall, but then have the ropes catch her at the last second. I was holding my breath the entire time! Elly’s performance was also pretty surprising, because I really didn’t expect that she knew how to play the violin. However, she’s proven that she is a hard worker, and it’s not too much of a stretch to think that she has the discipline to learn an instrument.
Both girls did well, but I actually liked Yubin’s a little bit better. Still, she didn’t really show skills that were relevant to girl groups, because when will they ever need to do aerial dancing? So I suppose that Elly did show more marketable traits, though I don’t really understand why neither of them rapped when it was clear that So Jisub was looking for his main rapper?
SECOND MATCH: SEOLHYUN VS LISA!
Neither of these performances really wowed me at all, if I’m being honest. I don’t think Seolhyun has the charisma that I want when I see the face of a group. Compared to Brave Girl’s Han Yejin, Seolhyun’s charisma doesn’t even begin to compare. She’s a bit of an empty pretty face with no charms behind it. I don’t know why people are praising her when it’s clear that she’s not a very good singer. She’s a good dancer, and she looks pretty when she dances, but once she opens her mouth it doesn’t sound very good. I’m a little disappointed, because I love Nicole’s song. Too bad Seolhyun didn’t do it much justice. On the other hand, I think Lisa has the presence and the charisma I expected out of the face of a group. In terms of those two things, I think she could rival Han Yejin and Park Sujin, who I think are some of the best faces out there! But how are her skills that bad? Everyone keeps praising her for improving, but isn’ tit easy to improve when she had no skills to begin with? Her fans keep shielding her by talking about how she’s so much better than before, but when you really look at it, it’s not much of a different.
I suppose I agree with So Jisub’s decision, only because Seolhyun can at least dance, if not really sing. But in terms of presence, Lisa definitely has Seolhyun beat, which is pretty sad, because I don’t know how So Jisub expects either of these girls to be the face of his group.
THIRD MATCH: ROSE VS JIWON!
I think Rose has been reading some of the comments about her, because she was definitely trying to be more real or whatever this episode. WIth her stripped down, minimalist performance and her guitar, I think she’s trying to be genuine. Well maybe she should ask some of the other girls for tips, because I definitely am not buying it. Aside from that, it seems like she really doesn’t have much presence? She’s almost too focused on her guitar, and I’m wondering if she really practiced enough, because she didn’t seem like she had much interaction with the audience. Maybe she’s too focused on her boyfriend. I guess that’s why entertainment companies tell their trainees not to date, because then they turn out unfortunate performances like this one. But I think it’s great that Jiwon finally had a chance to shine! Her voice was really strong in her performance, and she seems like a fighter, which I kind of like in a girl. We need more confident girls up on stage! I’m tired of seeing the same weak ones who blush at almost anything. The only problem is, it seems that Jiwon really only stands out when she’s alone, and not when she’s in a group, which makes me think that maybe she’s better suited for a solo, rather than a girl group?
In my opinion, So Jisub definitely made the right choice by choosing Jiwon as the winner. She was more mature, and showed more personality than Rose did. It seems like the two of them are friends though? Jiwon better watch her back, because Rose seems like the type who would step on her friends to get ahead, and I’m sure she already calculated a plan.
FOURTH MATCH: SOOHYUN VS JIHYUN!
This match is with two of my favorites! Real vocalists, and not just dancers pretending to be vocalists. Jihyun is amazing, as usual! It’s easy to tell that she has a lot of experience, and her years of training didn’t fail her! Her technique is so good, and with her in the group, we won’t have any more of those embarrassing MR Removed videos (looking at you, Chi Chi). I hope she makes it into the group and becomes the leader, because I think she would be great! And then maybe she can teach some of the other contestants how to sing, because right now they’re just not good. I thought it would be impossible for anyone to beat her, but Soohyun really did well! She’s so good at showing personality, and she really brings her flair to everything. I like that she’s true to herself no matter what, and she shines when she’s doing what she likes! It’s another cute concept, and I know I said I don’t really like that, but it’s difficult to dislike it when it looks like she’s having so much fun. Plus, her voice is super pretty, and it makes me root for her.
In this battle, I think both Jihyun and Soohyun did really well, how did So Jisub even decide? I think they would definitely have won if they were paired with other people, because I think they were two of the best performances this episode. I really want both of them to debut, but it seems like they wouldn’t fit the same concepts?
FIFTH MATCH: DAWON VS SOOJUNG!
I might be a little biased but wasn’t Dawon amazing during this episode??? I’m glad she shows So Jisub what she could do, because her performance was just so good! I was scared that she would choose a ballad, because it seems like she does those pretty well. But she took a risk and the risk definitely paid off! Being a singer isn’t all about high notes, and that’s exactly what Dawon shows. I think one of her problems before was that she didn’t show a lot of personality, but she definitely showed more this time, and I’m so glad she did! I hope Dawon makes it until the end! As for Soojung, I think her voice is definitely really pretty! She’s really emotional when she sings, and I really connected to her song. Maybe she really related to the lyrics? I think performances come out a lot better when you can see yourself in the song. The thing is, Soojung is a pretty girl, with a pretty voice, but she’s a bit forgetable, which is unfortunate because she does have really good qualities. Also, I’m not sure why Soojung chose to sing a ballad? She hasn’t really showed that she can do a variety of different skills on this show. Obviously the new group isn’t just going to sing slow and emotional songs, and if she really wants to do that, then she should just become an OST singer.
In the end, Dawon definitely should have won, and I’m not just saying that because I’m biased! Soojung played it safe, and while she sounded good, she was quite forgettable again. Dawon showed that she had the vocals and the ability to pull of different concepts!
FINAL MATCH: SEOYOUNG VS EUNAE!
I said last time that I think Seoyoung is somewhat one dimensional, and that she couldn’t suit sexy concepts very well. I think she proved me wrong a little bit in her performance, because she definitely went for a more sexy song. I don’t think she really pulled it off that well though? Park Sujin was famous for her subtle expressions and her cold sexiness, but it seemed that Seoyoung didn’t really understand it. It looked like she was struggling, and she reverted back to idol-like smiles. It’s unfortunate, because I really wanted her to pull this one off. I think Eunae, on the other hand, really pulled off her performance! The song needs a lot of masculine charms, and I think Eunae captured it really well while still being pretty! Katie Lee obviously didn’t know what she was looking for when she let Eunae go, because she’s probably one of the best trainees at KT. Not that KT cares about talent anyways, but that’s another story. It makes me wonder if Eunae could pull off a cute concept though?
I think the winner definitely should have been Eunae, because she showed that she could do it all! She matched her song really well, and the choreography looks super difficult so I’m really impressed with her! Seoyoung needs to improve a bit with her stage presence, doesn’t she? Because next to Eunae she fades into the background a little.
SPOILERS!
I can’t say I’m too surprised that Yubin was eliminated. She’s getting a little old to be an idol, and with how young some groups are debuting these days, she wouldn’t quite fit. And on top of that she does drugs, so she would be a bad influence! I don’t need my favorites to get lung cancer from secondhand smoke just because one member of their group is lighting up in the dorms! So quite frankly, I’m glad Yubin is out. She can stick to TRC the druggie company, because obviously she fits well there!

Note
who are the girls you’re rooting for uyu? any favs? who do you think will make it to the finale?
My top pick has to be Dawon! Her voice is pretty and unique, and she has a lot of potential! She’s a bit of an underrated visual, in my opinion, because she has a pretty body, and she has a face that looks approachable and pretty! I also like her personality, because I prefer the quieter girls, and she seems really genuine!
Next is Jihyun! I think it’s obvious that Jihyun has a lot of experience, and it really shows, especially in comparison to some of the other girls in the competition. She has a really pretty voice, and it stands out a lot! I think it’s important that your voice is recognizable, and I feel that from Jihyun! She’s not amazing at dancing, but I think her singing ability makes up for it. I also think her experience can make her a really good leader for the future group!
Soohyun is a favorite that I wasn’t expecting, because I’m usually not into the cute concept. But her voice is soooo pretty, I don’t like her quite as much as Jihyun and Dawon, but I really want to see how she adds to a group in the future!

Hello everyone! It’s me, Uyu, and i’m finally here after what seems like ages. You guys missed me, right? Because i missed you! most of you.
I’m a little behind in the royal survival show, but i’ve been watching it religiously, and better late than never, right? And while we’re waiting for the next episode (who’s excited? because i’m excited), i thought i would give you all a rundown of my opinions on the girls.
LEE JIHYUN, ROYAL ENT
A favorite for sure, because who could forget how well she did leading her team during the mgas? Well, she didn’t win, but she’s an amazing singer, and it’s obvious that she has a lot of experience. I think jisub oppa has been a little mean to her, but she deserves more! God Jihyun! Can sing and she has the visuals, so what else could he want from her?
JO EUNAE, KT ENT
Didn’t this girl betray her company to be here? Imagine being Katie Lee and investing all that time into your trainee, only to have her hop ship at the first chance in another company. It’s a little sad. Besides that, she’s pretty and tall, and that’s half of the battle already! But she’s also good at dancing and rapping. Maybe not both at the same time, but it’s clear that she has a lot of potential.
LEE SOOHYUN, ROYAL ENT
I didn’t think I would like her because...I don’t know...she seemed a little one dimensional. Like she could only fit into one concept. But she surprised me during her performance of “Goodbye Baby”, so could I really dislike her after that? She’s also charming on stage and has a good voice, so i guess she’s alright. Her dancing isn’t the best, but i think other things make up for it.
KIM SEOLHYUN, ROYAL ENT
Pretty, but so overrated. I think everyone is focused on her face and her good proportions and they don’t look beyond anything else. She’s just so expected every time, and she doesn’t really bring anything fresh. I’ve seen dozens of idols like her, and i’m sure there will be dozens more. She’s kind of good at most things, but not that great at anything. She’s tall, but not that tall. Pretty, but not that pretty. Good on stage, but not amazing.
NAM DAWON, NOVA ENT
Another traitor! There are so many this time, aren’t there? Couldn’t Jisub oppa find trainees from his own company? But i can see why, because Dawon is actually amazing! If i were Jisub oppa i would take her from Nova too! She’s an amazing singer, and her vocal tones are so pretty and she really knows what she’s doing! Plus she can dance, and you can tell that Nova dance training is really no joke. I like her personality too — she seems quiet, but really genuine. Oh, and I love her hair!
KIM YUBIN, TRC ENT
She’s a good rapper, and I think she’s quite pretty. She has that kind of look that westerners would like, I think. But it doesn’t matter how pretty or talented she is, because remember when she was caught smoking? What kind of message do you think that sends? It’s a shame because her skills are good, but every time i see her i think of her drugs. Hopefully she isn’t smoking during the show! Secondhand smoke is dangerous too!
JEGAL SEOYOUNG, ROYAL ENT
She has pretty features, though they’re not really my style, but I can see why people would like her! She seems like she can sing and dance which is more than I can say for most people here. The only thing is, it seems like she’s very stuck on the cute concept? It seems like she didn’t fully nail “Over U”, and maybe that’s why? I hope i’m wrong though, because I would really like to see her succeed!
JUNG SOOJUNG, SPHERE ENT
Another one who left her company?? These girls have no loyalty, I guess. I know people say that she fades into the background and isn’t memorable, but she seems like she already has a lot of skills. She has a good voice, and she’s quite pretty, so it wouldn’t be hard to push her into the spotlight in the future. I don’t know, i kind of like her, and I hope she shows more in the future.
PARK CHAEYOUNG, ROYAL ENT
So I did a bit of digging on all of these contestants, and I found out that Chaeyoung is dating! Apparently she had posted it all over her Instagram last year, but she deleted them. Doesn’t Royal have a dating ban? Or is she getting special treatment? Other than that, she seems a little fake, like the stereotypical idol girl who would step on people to get ahead, so the other girls on the show better watch their backs!
AHN HYOJIN, ROYAL ENT
I honestly really like Hyojin! She’s not the typical kind of girl that I like, but I think her style and everything is really cool! I don’t think she’s as good as Yubin at rapping, but at least she’s not a druggie. Plus she seems like she works really hard, and I think that’s really admirable in anyone. I think maybe she needs a bit of polishing? But after that she’ll be like a bright shining star and I’m really excited to see that happen!
YANG JIWON, TRC ENT
I think Jiwon is pretty in a mature kind of way, which is good! I can see her going into acting or something in the future, because I think she has actress visuals! I think she’s supposed to be a singer in the competition, but I don’t know. Soohyun and Soojung are younger than her but they seem to be comparable singers?
MANOBAN LALISA, ROYAL ENT
The weird thing about Lisa is that wasn’t she in the MGAs? But it seems like she hasn’t improved since then. I think she’s pretty, and she seems like she has good stage presence, but she’s really weak when it comes to her skills, especially in comparison to the other girls. But I see she’s working hard to improve, and that’s good! Hopefully she improves faster than she did after the MGAs.
