Happy Be-Late Birthday & Debut ♥

It's crazy how herself and Namjoon were debuting together around the same time, this means they will bump into each other backstage when promoting their song. Still, she bought him a little gift from Hong Kong since she was there filming the music video there on his birthday. Jiyeon wasn't sure on what to give him or how give to him so she decided to get in contact with his personal assistant instead since she would be able to give her gifts in secret without no trouble. Once she was back in Korean soil and had some time to herself she gave the gifts to her personal assistant to give to him. "Thank you for doing this! I hope you are well~ here is something for you too" she couldn't give her a gift as well cause that would be rude. It was simple cute gold star phone charm for the assistant nothing amazing but she deserves gold star with her efforts. Now, back to the things she brought Namjoon, first of all bouquet of flowers saying congrats on this debut followed by a pink box wrapped in white ribbon with a letter and necklace inside for him. 

"Happy Birthday Namjoon~ I know we are both on our little journeys to debut so we can't really see much of each other but I wanted to gift you something special. If you look at the necklace closely you notice a bar-code on it, the numbers on it, 300919-NJ , which is the date when you picked up drunken stray and brought me to your home. I felt this date is important because that where I think the feelings started to grow. Thank you for everything! Good luck on being NSG's rapping price p.s I love the song~"

"She's definitely a keeper," Soyi mentioned when he had a free moment before debuting and he met up with his personal assistant. He looked at what jiyeon ended handing over to soyi with a grin. "You think?" He asked. The flowers were in a vase already and all he had to open the box.

"Yeah. I think you two are a cute couple," she stated. Namjoon was going to say that he hadn't even officially asked to date her and that they were debuting and that as idols, they had a temporary dating ban  but knowing that she would simply be staring at him, he agreed.

"Ill ask her next time I see her!"he stated.

When he was alone, he opened the box with the necklace and he had smile in amusement.

He pulled out his phone and sent jiyeon a text.

Now that they’ve debuted, their days were busy with recording and appearance but while they waited for their turns, namjoon had taken to sneaking his switch in his bag so that he could game away the spare time. During one such moment, namjoon settled in a corner and pulled out his switch with a grin. He’d been playing story based games lately and the one game he’s been playing on repeat for the longest time now was Hyrule warriors. He been incredibly concentrated on the game for a bit but eventually his stomach called him out of it.

He set his switch aside. “I’m hungry….can we like get food? Hey Aron wanna come with me In search of food?”he asked, looking at his friend. “It will be my treat and maybe we can find strawberry milkshake. Actually no, I want desert. So some of strawberry dessert. Yes, that would be good,” he mumbled trailing off after his milkshake statement. Namjoon was hungry and his brain wasn’t really cooperating at all right now.

It’s finally here. Their debut stage.

After several months of hell, they’re here.

Namjoon feels calm but scared. There’s a storm of conflicting emotions swirling in his head, in his heart. He’d looked forward to this for the longest time (maybe a good three and half years) but even then, it was mostly excitement. They were ready, or as ready as they possibly be. There was time to grow and time to learn and their budding fans would understand. Their predestined days would be behind them. Their worries would be existent in a whole another situation. Not now. Not when the stage was theirs. Not when an audience screamed for them. He closed his eyes to steady himself. Steady those nerves.

His heart slows down.

He calms himself.

The feel of taemin’s hand on his shoulder is comforting. It’s that reassurance that they’re there. He’s not alone. HeD been depressed, he’d been unhappy and he’d been put down. There was so much that he could take. The reassurance is definitely welcome. Their petty squabbles were all in the past now. In all honesty, he’d always respected taemin. Now however, he felt that he’d proven himself. His work ethic and the fact that he was still here and not giving up so easily, proved that namjoon belonged where he stood.

“Yeah. Let’s show them a good time,” he smirks, glancing over at taemin.

Initially he’d even disappointed that he wasn’t the leader and that he wasn’t being respected as a rapper when the group was first announced but standing here at their debut stage, there was a sort of lightness in him. Maybe it was nerves or maybe it was just adrenaline. Nonetheless, they were here.

“Let’s do well, together.”

it’s finally here. their debut stage.

taemin is eerily calm, considering nearly a quarter of his life has led up to this moment. he tries not to let his thoughts wander. he tries to stay focused. no thoughts of are we really ready or will the dance be clean enough or what if someone makes a mistake? no, they’re ready. taemin witnessed the improvement of all of the members with his own eyes. sure, there’s always room for them to grow, and maybe the fact that they lack at all makes taemin nervous, but they’re debuting. they’re really debuting, and maybe, if taemin is lucky, they’ll have all the time in the world to improve and get stronger as a group.

he doesn’t think of all that could go wrong after this. he doesn’t think about all of their predebut mishaps only being a sign of things to come, and the possibility that the group will get dissolved before they all fulfill their contracts until the end. they’re worries for a taemin of another time, when they aren’t being ushered out of their waiting room toward the stage, waiting, waiting to set foot on it. he can hear an audience cheering. an audience. he can feel the bass pumping through his feet and he is so eager. he is so eager for the public to finally know him as lee taemin, leader of nsg.

there’s no time for worries. instead, there’s namjoon in front of him, and this: i want all of us to do well. you too. i want you to be able to stand on nsg’s debut stage happy.

the question is, is namjoon happy? in a moment like this, their speckled past doesn’t matter. their squabbles are irrelevant, because they’re nsg, and they’re in this together. even with all of taemin’s past reservations, namjoon proved his work ethic, and even after everything, he’s still here. he has that much dedication to nsg, and after everything, how could taemin doubt that?

he puts a light hand on namjoon’s shoulder, and smiles softly at him. “ready?” he asks.

it’s funny. years ago, when taemin’s closest friends left kt, he feared his debut stage feeling lonely. he was afraid all he would feel was absence– that all he could think of would be the people that didn’t make it to stand beside him. yes, they’re still in his memory, but it’s different standing here now, one step away from the realization of his dreams. it’s the realization of theirs, too, even if they’re old dreams; it’s knowing everyone that matters will watch this stage and message him to congratulate him, and while there will always be some nostalgia, now, there is nsg. this is the team the universe brought him to, and in this moment, he thinks he will stand on their debut stage happily.

With their debut, they were finally free to do as they wanted to do in terms of their desires of acting and modelling or variety. Namjoon was pretty excited to delve back into the industry that he’d left of his own free will in his late teens. He’d stopped acting when he turned 14, choosing to follow his fathers footsteps learning about the company and how e a good leader but here he was again, aiming to step back into the career that he’d left behind. He missed acting and modelling but at the time he’d quit to spite his mother and stop her from loving her dreams vicariously through him. He’d dreamed about getting back into the industry and with their debut finally, it seemed actually possible and as actually excited to see this come to fruition.

While they were waiting in the green room for the live recording of one of their shows, namjoon sat down next to Johnny. “It doesn’t feel all that real yet, that we’ve actually debuted and that we can actually start doing the things we’ve wanted to do for ages!” He exclaimed, leaning against the sofa. “Any plans for what you’re going to do now that we are actual idols?”he asked, looking at his fellow tree.

Reminiscing Before the Day ||

They would officially debut in a few days. September 28th. The end of the month. He had been thinking of this for almost a long time and now that they were here at this stage, Namjoon was convinced that all their hardship was worth it. In a few days, they would be on stage. Performing as an official group in kt. Their debut had been a hard-fought road and something that Namjoon would treasure for a long time.

Initially upon joining KT and signing his contract for the first time, he had been convinced that maybe it was the wrong place for him. As time wore on and on, Namjoon second guessed his spot in the company. With people always joining that were so much better than him, he’d been forced to innovate, learn more, and become better. The first few years he’d been quite frivolous and taking things easy, but when he had realized that he could be easily surpassed if he didn’t commit, Namjoon dedicated himself to being better.

Now at the point of their debut, on the brink of days when everything will change, Namjoon spent the day reminiscing. It was still very surreal. Like at any moment he could be told that he wasn’t good enough and that he was being replaced in the group. He’d think that the whole time until their debut and even after.

He’d always feared that he wasn’t good enough. Maybe it was the inner voice telling him that he’d never amount to anything or maybe it was the constant pressure from his family. To be on the brink of debut, it just reaffirmed to Namjoon that his goals and dreams were finally coming true. That his decision to stick around for another two years was correct. Even signing the nsg contract on his birthday was somewhat surreal still. It hadn’t all quite sunk into him that this was happening and that he was here.

He still second guessed himself but at least, this would be the pull in the right direction. Maybe once he got back into his original life of acting and modelling, he would be back to normal.

He doesn’t spend a lot of time with his parents. He knows that if he confides something in them, his mother will immediately overreact and even attempt to help. His family was horribly dysfunctional, but he’d never realized how bad it was until that night when he had stormed out of dinner with them, tired of being judged and chastised for his choices again and again. The imposed moratorium on his dreams at the time had made sense to him at the time but now that he was seeing the fruits of his hard work and dedication, they had taken to undermining him again.

Yes, his relationship with his family is strained but he refuses to show weakness. He knows that he has friends who support him and love him and there’s family abroad who knows that he’s more than what his parents claim on him. They should be happy that namjoon hasn’t fully pushed them out of his life and still indulges his mother’s silly fantasies that she’s still famous, plays along with his father who tells him he will be a good successor and pleases their egos by showing up to dinner once a week that is arranged through his assistant. In all fairness, their debut promotions are packed, and while he’s functioned on less sleep and exhaustion for a long time, and even before he was signed, it takes its toll. He’s second guessed himself many many times, questioned whether or not his parents can support him in this, but as much as he second guesses, he knows there’s unwavering support beside him in the form of his friends.

It does come out of the blue when hyunjin approaches him while they’re waiting for the live shooting. The other’s nerves are somewhat calming to the rapper and he’s feeling at ease with himself. “thanks hyunjin-ah, it means a lot,” he smiles, the grin widening slightly when the younger mentions that he’s on his side and he’s there to support  like a cheerleader. Namjoon laughs a bit. “seriously though, thanks hyunjin. It’s nice to know that there’s more people who support me,” he states. He leans back against the chair and sighs. He can understand that the other is simply trying to be supportive in place of his family, since he’s pretty sure he can’t really hide the tension that occurs when he’s on the phone with them or even while he’s getting ready for the weekly obligated dinner with them. “I’m glad I have such friends like you and the others. Makes my family seem a lot more trashy,” he adds laughing.

While Hyunjin doesn’t share everything with his parents, he knows deep down that he can confide in them – no matter the subject matter. They’re a safety net that he admittedly tries not to use too often (for the sake of saving them the trouble of worrying about him), but the mere presence of that safety net is a reassurance in itself that provides a great deal of comfort to the dancer. And while Hyunjin knows that not all families are as close-knit as his, it takes living with other people for him to really notice it.

Not to say that familial relationships can be summarised by an outsider who has never made any true inquiries into the dynamics, but Hyunjin has picked up on a perhaps… strained relationship between Namjoon and his parents. And someone who finds comfort in knowing that his family is there to support him when he needs it, Hyunjin can’t help but wonder (and worry) if Namjoon is getting the support he needs. Their debut promotions are packed and it’s exhausting even to Hyunjin who has functioned on minimal sleep and an overworked body for the last five years of his life, but at least he has his parents there to support him. His mother to send him the occasional package of homecooked side dishes to share with the dorm. His father to make him laugh when he’s feeling down.

So it probably comes out of the blue when Hyunjin sidles up to Namjoon while they’re waiting for the live shooting of the day’s music show, the younger seating himself next to the other and blurting out a nervous, “Hey hyung… you know you can always talk to me if you need to, right?” He tilts his head with a kind smile, “I’m on your side, and I’m here to support you whenever you need it… like a cheerleader!” It’s a vague enough statement that Hyunjin isn’t calling attention to Namjoon’s familial dynamics, but also extending a hand should the man ever need it. “I guess, all I’m really trying to say is that I’ve got your back hyung”.

the debut was an incredibly hard road to get to so being at this stage and debuting was an amazing feeling after the many many months of hardship that they had gone through. all the waiting had brought to this moment. almost four years after being signed and constantly being told that he wasn’t good enough, he was finally here. he was ready for the idol life and the careeer since he’d already been an actor before and he was ready for this challenge. 

now that they were busy with promotions, however, they were almost never around the company. so the moment he had a brief moment at the company, he was immediately on his phone texting all his friends making sure that they saw the news and that they were supporting him. Nothing less from his friends. Hearing a voice behind him, namjoon slowed down and grinned when the younger rapper joined his side. he blushed at being congratulated but grinned excitedly. “thank you haru-chan! maybe you’ll be joining us in a future unit??” he asked, grinning widely. “how about i treat you to lunch since we both a have a moment and we can celebrate!”

with everything that the members of nsg had gone through, haruto was honestly more than happy for them now that they could finally say they had debuted. it had been a long trip and he couldn’t really imagine what it must have been like to go through it and wonder if debut was ever going to happen in the first place. but they had made it and that had to mean something. and as the good younger trainee he was, he thought that it was only right that he went out of his way to congratulate them and wish them well for the no doubt tough journey of an idol which would come. 

but it was hard to catch any of the members around these days with how busy they now were with new promotions. so, the second he did happen to round the corner and catch a glimpse of namjoon, he wasn’t going to waste any time. “hyung, hold on a second!” he called after the older rapper, jogging a little down the corridor to try and catch up to him. and he was just a little out of breath when he did finally catch up, but he smiled all the same. “i just want to say congratulations on finally debuting and all. i’m going to be cheering for you guys from the sidelines.”

A staff member leads you down KT’s winding hallways to Katie Lee’s office, then opens the door and leads you inside, where the CEO awaits, sitting at her desk. She observes you as you’re instructed by the staff member to take a seat. Next to your chair, is a company lawyer whom you recognize from before; he’d been present when you signed your initial company contract. The staff member then leaves the room. You hear the door close and the latch click back into place just as your CEO finally decides to speak up.

“I’m very glad you are here today because it means you have finally achieved our goal, haven’t you? Trainees come here and sign away their two-year contracts with hope of one day making to where you are right now, but not everybody makes it.” She says it all with a serene smile. “Your years of training are what got you here.”

“You stood out from the others, even if you also had your ups and downs. What’s important is that you managed to get yourself back on your in feet and kept on improving.” She pauses, and diverts her attention to her desk, where she shuffles paperwork until she sets one singular sheet of paper in front of her. “I’ve been proud of your growth here, and I trust you to do your best to continue to improve, even after debut. This, here,” she says, motioning towards the document, “is a contract exclusive to NSG and will tie you to this group, and to KT Entertainment, for the next six years.”

There is no sign of regret on her features as she slides the contract toward you and hands you a pen. “If we share the same vision of making NSG the next boy group of the world, and you wish to be a part of this journey, you know what to do.”

Walking down the hallways, he’s once again reminded that the last time he walked down this hallway was two years ago, to sign his renewal and his casual callout of katie lee’s mistreatment of him. He was rather happy with everything though now. He had a feeling that September would be the month for him. He walks in and takes a seat when he’s motioned to. He has prepared himself once again for the worst possible news, since it’s rare to be called in to the ceo’s office for  good news. He settles in his chair, and her words are sort of comforting. Yeah, he supposes that she is right on that. His years of training is what got him here. 

As she continues on, Namjoon smiles a bit. He really did struggle a lot and had his downs where he just doubted everything. Once she pauses, Namjoon leans forward in interest. Proud of his growth? that was a massive compliment, coming from Katie Lee. He glances at the sheet she slides to him. A contract exclusive to NSG? For the next six years? This was exactly what he’d wanted from the beginning. He takes the pen and twirls it in his hands with a quiet smirk when she mentions that if they share the same vision and he wants to be part of the journey, he knows what to do. 

That he did. 

He steeples his fingers for a moment. “Appropriate that we’re doing this on my birthday,” he states. reaching for the pen again and signing his name where he needed to. He slid it right back and grinned, standing up. “Thank Miss Lee,” he states. “I will keep going,” he adds. This is it now. He’s officially part of nsg. There was no going back now. His parents would just have to deal with the fact that he was going forward in his goals. 

OOC NOTE: First of all, congratulations on arriving at the final step before debut! I know it’s been a long and crazy journey, and I’m so glad you’ve stuck through it. When you are ready, feel free to post this prompt with Namjoon’s response to it.

Should Namjoon choose to SIGN the NSG contract, he will be employed by KT Entertainment without a need to renew a contract until the duration of this one has concluded. As a reward for making it this far, he will receive THREE WEEKENDS unpaid vacation time to use any time between now and the end of December, so long as it doesn’t clash with any special debut activities (such as music show appearances, meaning he can’t actually use her vacation time until after her music show performances have finished.)

Should he choose to REJECT this contract with KT and NSG, he will leave the company, effective immediately upon rejection. He will be able to keep all of his debut points, but will not be able to take any trainee workshops or earn any more debut points/workshop points until he becomes a trainee again. He will not have any special advantage over newer characters when he auditions for other companies in the future, and should he become a trainee at a new company he will be considered a junior trainee all over again, even though he will still have his debut points and would be eligible for debut right away. He WILL have the right to audition for KT again, but the fact that he gave up a contract renewal, especially a debut one, WILL be taken into account in final casting decisions.

He will have up to one week to make his decision IC, meaning that if he does not make a decision by September 19th, he will automatically be cut from the company. Exceptions can be made for those on hiatus.
