Salvia leucantha, also known as Mexican bush sage, is a flowering shrub native to Mexico and Central America. It's known for its showy bicolor flowers that bloom from late summer to frost. The flowers are white with funnel-shaped purple calyces and grow in dense, arching spikes that can reach 10 inches long. The plant's gray-green leaves have a velvety texture and grow in pairs on square stems.

American Thistle
Field thistle is a biennial or perennial herb up to 200聽cm (78.5聽in) tall, producing a large taproot. There is usually only one stem with numerous spiny leaves that are green on the upper side but white and woolly underneath. The plant's聽flower heads聽are large and showy and have the pale to medium value purplish magenta coloration (lilac, lavender, pinkish purple, purplish pink) that is especially attractive to butterflies. 聽The same color can be seen in the flowers of the genus聽Liatris, among many others. Heads have many聽disc florets聽but no聽ray florets. The species grows primarily in damp areas in forest openings, prairies, and disturbed sites.
It is used as a component of some North American prairie and wildflower meadow restoration mixes that focus on the use of native species. Like most other thistles, it is a food plant for the caterpillars of the聽Painted Lady聽butterfly. Most thistle produce a large quantity of nectar and pollen. The large flower heads make them attractive to large butterflies like migrating monarchs. Bumblebees also make use of thistles, gathering the pollen. Hummingbirds sometimes gather nectar from them. This species is of similar size, height, and appearance to the聽Bull Thistle, but it is less spiny, has whitish leaf undersides, and, unlike Bull Thistle, often has quite pale flowers.聽Many thistle species are monocarpic. This means that the plant will flower once and then die. Reproduction of this flower is dependent on seed distribution. This includes interaction with insects, habitat, and weather conditions.
The flower heads, when mashed, have been reported to release a substance that acts similarly to rennin and can curdle milk to aid in the production of cheese.

Surplus City...
Back in the day, you could get anything you looked for in there. I remember buying cast iron pans at a good price and lots of fishing equipment.

Mississippi Kite mating.
Source Me laf@ilyF 馃挏
Here's a more detailed look at Mississippi kite mating:
Pair Formation:
Mississippi kites generally arrive at their breeding grounds with their mates already formed, or they form pairs shortly after arrival.
Courtship:
While specific courtship displays are rare, some interactions between paired birds have been observed, including mutual preening, vocalizations, and gentle pecking. Individuals also actively guard their mates from rivals.
Nesting:
Mississippi kites nest in trees, often in colonies. They build a flat, bulky nest of twigs and sticks, sometimes incorporating Spanish moss.
Incubation and Fledging:
The female lays 1-3 eggs, and both parents incubate them for approximately 29-32 days. The young fledge (leave the nest) about 30-35 days after hatching.
Defensive Behavior:
Both parents are very protective of their nests and young and will dive at potential threats, according to Texas Parks & Wildlife.
