“Are you sure?”
meme
❝Uh, yeah.❞ There was no heat in his words. Warren didn’t say anything else for a moment, just watched her. He chanced a brief glance over his shoulder; it was no big deal. The entire restaurant was empty anyway. Sliding into the booth, he seated himself directly across from her. A brow was raised. ❝You’re not stalking me are you?❞

He wasn’t answering her calls. With her luck, he was probably annoyed at her and had already blocked her number, but she wasn’t giving up just yet. Veronica was on her father’s computer, snooping around on the files they had on all of the employees of Lodge Corp. She wasn’t supposed to be there and she definitely wasn’t supposed to be looking at those files, but she had learned to trust her instincts and if her instincts were telling her that there was something fishy about the new guy, then that was worth investigating on.
She had just found the file that she was looking for and she let out a whoop of victory, eyes quickly scanning the document for anything that looked even the slightest bit weird when something caught her eye. He used to be a high-ranking employee of one of the leading appliance companies a couple of years ago before the company experienced multiple misfortunes, starting from the death of the President and his son who was supposed to take over, to its bankruptcy last 2008. That was something worth noting.
[ text: warren peace ] I found some dirt on the guy. It’s too early to say ‘I told you so’,                                         but it’s still something. Would you like to meet up soon? I know                                        this restaurant, and th

And her father had arrived. It was a good thing that she had prepared an excuse before executing her plan and she smiled sweetly, standing up from the chair and picking up the documents that she had brought along with her while discreetly exiting the file that she had just been viewing, a fashion website popping up on underneath it. She would just send the text later, she told herself. She never did.

“It reminded me of you.”
meme
❝Wow. Not bad.❞ Warren wasn’t exactly used to others thinking fondly of him. Ever since he helped Will and the rest of the Geek Squad put Royal Pain away, that all changed. He guessed he still needed to get used to this whole being friends thing though, because none of these new people in Warren’s life were going away anytime soon. Including Layla. Especially Layla.

Looks like she wasn’t as delicate of an earth flower as her outward appearance might have suggested. Underneath the dewy-eyed, do-gooder persona was a girl quick to snap out comebacks and wasn’t afraid to act sarcastic. Too bad her mouth spewed out words so quickly that she couldn’t even catch them before they all tumbled out, much less was she able to follow her own train of thought. Warren noted her inability to keep a lid on her chattiness, as well as her inability to stay still, but didn’t comment on it. He didn’t miss the way her face fell either. Though it was pretty telling.
Slouching forward momentarily, Warren placed his elbows onto the table and criss-crossed his fingers so that they formed a platform his chin could rest upon. In most cases, the people this girl talked to may have showed signs of interest as to what she was saying, but like the usual looks he gave to those who entered his territory, it was one of thinly veiled boredom and agitation. The appearance wasn't even meant to scare her off, but just the typical settling of his features that drove fear into other students nonchalantly. His potent stare lingered on her to intentionally form an awkward and unpleasant silence. Then his eyes darted towards her bag.
The pair of teens had barely been sitting at the same table for five minutes. At least, she had finally finished talking. Ideally, Warren would have preferred if she left him alone to find her own damned table, but he had come to understand — not accept, there was a difference — that that was not happening anytime soon. If ever.
Tumblr media
❝Nice one, hippie. You sure told me.❞
Not even bothering to ask, he broke his current posture and reached into the open backpack to pull out a certain book that caught his eye. It didn't even matter that he had unceremoniously shoved his hand into a girl's bag, which many would consider rude. She was the one who voluntarily chose to sit with him, for whatever reason.
Round One
She stared at him as his brow quirked, and her own furrowed slightly his confusion. She was about to retort an annoyed “what?” - because truly, she had come to the table in peace (no pun intended). He had been the one to get hostile here, so Layla felt as though she was perfectly entitled to a bit of sarcasm and self-righteous indignation.  His comeback made her eyes widen and her head tilt forward as her eyebrows raised. Sugges-what-now?  Perhaps her point had been… poorly-worded. She had never even spoken to Warren Peace before (or if she had, it had not been significant). She knew perfectly well who he was - so yes, she probably shouldn’t have talked about sitting on his lap during their first exchange. But while a faint blush crept to her cheeks on instinct, she wasn’t very embarassed. It was just a comment and besides, too late to take it back. She wasn’t about to blush and flutter and apologize like a shy ten year old.  His other comment, however? It hit closer to home. The implication wasn’t lost on her, and her face fell slightly (because yes, Will would care, but most certainly not the way she wanted him to), but she wasn’t stupid enough to take the bait. She merely clicked her tongue and shook her head, lifting her bag on the table and pulling her things from it - mostly to keep her hands busy as she spoke.  “Suggestive, please”, she whispered. “I was just stating a fact. I am sitting here. I’m not sitting on you, or breathing down your neck or using you as a pillow. This is not an invasion of personal space. This distance”, she stretched her arm to wave her hand in front of his chest then pulled it back towards herself, “is perfectly normal and acceptable for two human beings who go to the same school, so…”
Tumblr media
Oh, how she wished she had found a good ending to that little rant (which she was quite proud of), but all that came to mind was: “…. There.”

A woman in distress — great, just what he needed. Worse, a woman that recognized him while he was out on the job and felt the need to track him down. Warren had to hand it to her; she had to be pretty crafty to accomplish that. And desperate. She wasn’t short on guts or deficient in the initiative department either. ❝You want my help right now?❞ he pressed. The words came from deep inside of him, full of incredulity. He didn’t need any distractions. What Warren needed was to not lose sight of the bounty head he had dressed so sharply up to collect. Christ, dinner hadn’t even officially started yet. Well, if she didn’t have his attention before she did now. ❝You obviously have the means...you knew where to find me. But in case you didn’t notice, I’m otherwise a little preoccupied.❞
He made a show of angling his head with a sly sense of subtly, indicating his current seating arrangement. Warren was by himself, at what was clearly supposed to be a table for two, in the middle of a fancy restaurant. Just beyond the glass, he could see the glimmering nightlights, the nightlife of the city clearly from his place at the top, but he was not here for the dining or the view. He was here for his trade.
What? Did she think he was here for his own benefit? Warren didn’t need overpriced seafood and cheesy violin music playing in the background to stuff his face; he would sooner be happier dropping by his old job, The Paper Lantern, and taking home some leftover orange chicken and lo mein. And every second, every fleeting, single moment he spent talking to this woman meant getting caught in cross-hairs he did not want to be in. Especially where they were, talking out in the open where anyone, anyone at all could see them. The line of fire was not exactly the ideal place to be.  Warren saw clearly that she didn’t know that. She probably thought she knew a lot of things, thought she was playing it smart by seeking him out. Maybe she even thought it would impress him.
Tumblr media
He breathed in, jaw clenched as he cast a glance around, scanning for his target. He would know when he saw her. Warren just hoped she hadn’t seen him already; he was actively trying to avoid a scene and anymore problems from arising, but this woman’s unwelcome presence was on the fast track to ruining everything. Luckily everyone else was suitably distracted, but this conversation really needed to reach its end...
❝If you know what I do, then you would know that this? This isn’t a good idea.❞ Despite the subdued air of his delivery, Warren’s disapproval was made glaringly obvious. After all, how could she not get it...? The bigger picture was this: she wasn’t only compromising Warren’s position here, she was putting herself and the rest of the people around them into potential danger. Then again maybe Warren was expecting too much — since this woman had already acted so heedless of his own schedule. Right, because she seemed to assume that if she cornered him then he was all hers. Warren’s mind ran quickly; ❝Nor is it really a good time,❞ he added, his patience clearly wearing thin as he licked his lips and tipped his chin down, before spearing her with his probing, dark gaze.

laylaiisms:
It wasn’t that Layla was really nervous about detention, although it was the first time she’d really gotten into trouble since primary school, when she had decided to guard the main tree of the courtyard because lovelorn children liked to carve their initials on it. Misguided, but sweet, as Will liked to say. A smile stretched Layla’s lips as she thought of Will, who had walked her right to the door to support her - he really was unbelievably sweet sometimes. No, she wasn’t really nervous about the detention itself, but more about what her mother would say. Or her dad. Taking a deep breath, the girl scanned the room quickly and her natural reaction, upon seeing familiar face, was to take the seat opposite the other occupent of the table, regardless of exactly who it was. Misguided, but sweet. His reaction didn’t disappoint him although to be honest, she had half expected him to stay quiet. Sure, Warren Peace obviously liked to play the “tough” guy in public, but she had vaguely thought he might be easier to get along with on a one-on-one basis. Teenage boys were stupid like that - they felt the need to assert their manliness or toughness in public settings, ressorting to various ways to do so. Another thing wrong with the inherent sexism of society… But Layla’s inside rants were silenced by Warren’s words. The teenage boy threw her a withering glare, his words halfway between a whisper and a growl. Layla raised her eyebrows, unwilling to be intimidated - although if she was honest with herself, he was intimidating, all agression and hostility.
Tumblr media
“This ?” she repeated in a whisper. “You mean, sitting? On this chair?” She pointed at the seat beneath her. “That’s what chairs are generally for, in case you didn’t know. It’s not like I’m sitting on your lap.”
Tumblr media
Upon registering her commentary, his face clouded over. A dark eyebrow instantly ticked up as his gaze was narrowed. Soon Warren was sporting a thoughtful, neutral look. It was an interesting choice of words on her part, although that was nothing compared to the image that immediately came to mind. Probably not what she was going for, but it was planted there all the same.  What made it even more amusing was the fact that Warren knew perfectly well who she was. Hard to miss out on the girl who was attached by the hip to his arch rival, Will Stronghold, ever since day one.
She was a regular member of the Geek Squad and not only that, but the pair of dweebs were completely inseparable — sickeningly so. Warren would know, since he spent a lot of his time intimidating Will, even if it was just from across the crowded lunchroom, seated at his lunch table. Even if he wasn't, one would have to be both willfully blind and stupid not to see it. The guy was never alone.
Of course, it was only a matter of time before the two of them had yet another confrontation. Hopefully the next one would be far more satisfactory though, and end with Warren wiping the floor with him once and for all.
That all said, just imagining the stricken expression on Will’s face if he overheard such a comeback was almost enough to mollify Warren.  ❝Do you always make your quips sound so suggestive?❞ It was her fault for giving him the opening. She was being brave; she didn’t want to simply allow him to intimidate her. Stupid, when she could simply walk away and find somewhere else to sit. Warren stayed still, merely watching her with anticipation. ❝I’m pretty sure I’m not the only one who would have a problem with you sitting in my lap.❞

Swan Princess AU
Muse A is a Princess, heir to an island kingdom. Muse B was supposed to be her betrothed a Prince from a neighboring kingdom. They were brought together each summer (every June until September) until they fell in love and married. BUT Muse B said something dumb causing Muse A to break off the marriage plans and leave with her father sadly.
On the way back they run into a sorcerer that Muse A’s father had banished 18 years previously for trying to over throw him using the Forbidden Arts. The sorcerer takes form of a giant bat dubbed ‘The Great Animal’ and kills Muse A’s father, most of the royal family’s guard and kidnaps Muse A.
Muse B is lamenting over his dumb choice of words that have cost him the love of his life with an advisor and a friend when Muse A’s captain of the guard comes in mortally wounded. He explains that they were attacked by a ‘Great Animal’ before dying. Sensing trouble Muse B rushes to the remains of the carriage that Muse A and her father were travelling in. He finds Muse A’s father dying from his wounds. The dying king tells Muse B that it’s not what it seems when it comes to the Great Animal and that Muse A is gone. Muse B falls to the ground screaming Muse A’s name in anguish.
Miles away in an abandon castle with a large lake Muse A is alive but in swan form. The sorcerer who’s named Rothbart (or Muse C) explains that the curse placed on Muse A only lasts until the moon comes up and she turns back into a human as long as she’s on the lake. Then he proceeds to propose to her which she vehemently denies him. She knows that he wants her father’s kingdom and does not hand it over to him. He tells her just as she tries to run away that once the moon leaves the lake she’ll turn back into a swan.
Months go by with Muse B training vigorously every day and looking for anything that could lead him to Muse A. The entire kingdom has decided that Muse A is dead and that Muse B needs to move on. He refuses. He soon finds the answers he is looking for and has to promise his mother that he’ll be back in time for a royal function (one that she planned with eligible princesses attending). He goes with his best friend to try and find the ‘Great Animal’ or even Muse A.
Muse A by this point has found a map of her location and Muse B’s kingdom. She’s determined to find Muse B herself and get him to break the curse on her. She’s lonely and she misses him greatly showing that she has fallen in love with him and hasn’t given up hope. She goes off into the forest where she finds Muse B, but since she’s in swan form he doesn’t recognize her and thinks she’s the ‘Great Animal’ and tries to kill her.
Muse A flies for her life back to Swan Lake with Muse B right behind her. She lands in the water just as the moon raises over the lake. Muse B finds Muse A and is just about to shoot the arrow that will kill her when she transforms back into a human. Shocked and happy to have found Muse A alive he runs to her and kisses her. He promises to never leave her side. She tells him that she’s under a curse that he has to break by giving a vow of everlasting love and prove it to the world but Rothbart has come as he does every night to ask for her hand before she can come up with a way to prove it to the world. Needing to get him to safety Muse A promises Muse B to come to his castle where he will make the vow with the entire world watching.
Needing to distract Rothbart from going after Muse B once he’s gone she pretends to accept his marriage proposal. But when she learns that he overheard her plans he locks her up within the old castle telling her that instead of kiling her because that will be the only way to stop her from going to the castle she won’t be able to go because there will be no moon.
Rothbart has an assistant a woman named Odile (or Muse D) and he uses her as a fake Muse A, turning her into her Doppelgänger for the function at Muse B’s castle the next night. He plans for Muse B to make his vow to the wrong woman because as soon as he does Muse A will die.
Will Muse A get out of the castle in time to stop the vow? Or will she die in the attempt? What about Muse B? Will he be able to see through this deceit of magic? Or will he be lured in? Will Rothbart win or die?
*Based MORE off of the first Swan Princess movie. *Can a THREE OR FOUR WAY THREAD just change Rothbart and Odile’s names to Muse C and D’s names.

Round One
Warren was a big enough guy, and even better, looked don’t-fuck-with-me enough that his biggest problem? Yeah, tended to be limited to killing time. People stayed as far away from him as possible; which suited Warren just fine. So he kept to himself, with only the company of his backpack and whatever reading material he decided to bring in for his own amusement. Most people were so boring and predictable, so long as they didn’t invade his personal space, he was able to easily tune them out. But not her. That was impossible. Just like that, this girl moved into his world. Her and her overwhelmingly obnoxious hippie aesthetic.
Tumblr media
❝What the hell,❞ he ground out. It was too ridiculous to fathom --- everyone knew better than to sit anywhere near Warren. Didn’t matter whether it was inside or outside of detention, this was not okay. And her timing honestly couldn’t have been worse. His skin still itching from his close brush with Will in the hallway just before he entered the library...then there was also the knowledge that she was one of Stronghold’s friends. A gloved hand was pressed down atop the table as he leaned towards her, voice pitched low. Just the perfect balance to carry heatedly across the air to her but not be overheard by anyone else.
❝…Tell me, when did I ever give the impression that this was all right?❞
