First Level of Burger Boss now as done as I could hope for I really appreciate all of the positive feedback I've gotten on this project so far, and I hope to get more feedback in the future so that I can refine this project even more into the most accurate and fun piece of fan art possible. Also special thanks to DVOArt for sending me his original sprites from the show, it made the final character art work much more accurate, and fun to look at.

It's still very unfinished, but I put together a sort of a demo where you can play through what is currently the first stage of my burger boss game

new video of my BurgerBoss game, this time showing the player death animation, as well as a few more of the enemies. I should have a playable demo of the first stage done soon.

New work in progress for my Bob’s Burgers “BurgerBoss” game recreation, I now have all of the enemies made as well as the screen that comes up when the game is plugged in. Mostly with sound effects and stuff too.

Bobs Burgers (Work in Progress)
Tumblr media
Still a work in progress, but I’ve been working on a pretty close to scale replica of Bob’s Burgers (I’m thinking of making a playable Burgerboss machine also.)

Weird Cube Thing
So I was watching a comedy special on netflix that I had seen a few times before. And while watching, I noticed that there was a weird effect with the back wall of the stage.
Tumblr media
The color of the tiles in the back, looked really similar to the images that you get when you make a normal map for use in something like Maya to make a bump map. So at this point I decided to take a screenshot at a point where the tiles were well lit, and straight enough that I could make a texture with it.
Tumblr media
I then took this, and brought it into Maya, and made a cube that had this image as the bump map picture, and it came out pretty cool.

Website Improvements
Over the past few days I've been working on improving my portfolio website. Among the many things I've been trying, i found this sweet javascript project called jsc3d that is letting me actually show my 3D work in a way that is not totally awful/ that lets you interact with them. For now i just have one posted, but i think its pretty cool. Best part is, it even works on iphone(maybe android too, i just dont have one of those) http://rob-clifford.com/3D/tardis.html

Final(s) Post for HFoss
So for our final presentation we have a pretty set game plan. Currently we are in the throes of working hard to complete our final project, and have done a great deal of work in terms of documenting our experience in a presentation format. A lot of our work will be discussing the things that have gone terribly wrong in our project, and the ways in which we have valiantly overcome these things to create a more streamlined and useful project in the end. We are not going through the process of determining how best to communicate our vision to the people who will work on this after us, Our project is essentially going to take the form if each member of the group talking about the things they focused on during development for a few minutes each, with a few slides dedicated to my work and screenshots of our project. Overall our documentation and work we've accomplished will be pretty good, so our presentation should be pretty rock and roll.

HFoss Playtesting: The importance of not lying to children
So yesterday was the first set of play tests that our HFOSS class was doing at a local STEM elementary school. According to the very upset email I got from my professor, it appears that nobody from the class showed up, and he had to explain to the kids that we were supposed to be there, but were not. I think that this is an important time to discuss what exactly it is that makes a good developer. I think that in order to think on that, you need to break down what exactly you're saying when you describe yourself as a developer. You are saying that you MAKE things, you cultivate worlds and images and code just by the very act of existing. You take on that mantle and say that you are the soul of progress, and that you want to build a world with better things in it. So it stands to reason to me, that disappointing children whom you could have inspired to take on that mantle too someday, is counterintuitive to say the least. I may not be the best student, or programmer, or artist or anything really. But I know that when you say you're going to do something, you do it, otherwise you have only violated the trust of those around you, an act which is not very indicative that you are developing anything of worth.

HFoss Group Meeting
So today we had a three hour group meeting and made a huge amount of progress towards building our weather station project. I've been making art assets now, that are going to represent the different types of weather conditions that a user (Read as: Child) could be experiencing. The application will then (Hopefully) take in the temperature and create a journal post that has the information available to other people looking at the user's information.
