The robot looked at her scientist friend for a while, expressionless as she took in his words. Months... no, her system was telling her otherwise, there really hadn't been place to charge and her battery didn't really last that long, considering she was an older model. Jia let her friend help her up and blinked a couple times, turning her eyes down to her lap. Indeed her state would indicate otherwise. "Months." the word feel out of her lips and once more she was racking her memory.
Blank.
A soft sigh left her lips and she nodded, eyes closing for a moment as the charger was connected, allowing her to use the ac power to fuel her actions for now, while the battey charged.  "I still wanna cook for you though... but I would be happy to eat a meal with you, Kai-ssi." The girl nodded her head as the boy let her know her battery was entirely drained, though she had known she was running on the emergency reserve. "I don't know how I drained it. I'm only finding a vague memory of taking a bus to the beach and walking there." she commented, looking tired. "Perhaps you should check that everything's wired correctly, I might have messed myself up somehow."
Welcome Home //Jia&Kai
A few days? Kai’s brows furrowed together in slight confusion as he turned his attention toward his female friend once he settled all the objects on another surface, clearing the section for her to sit on. “You’ve been gone for months, Jia. Not days.” Strange, he thought, that the robot’s system would automatically believe that it had merely been days that she had disappeared. His eyes gave her a small scan once more, acknowledging her worn out clothes and made a reminder to himself to ask one of the older female workers for an outfit he could lend the tired robot.
His hands automatically reached out to help her as she climbed on the table, aware that she might blank out at any second upon stepping into his laboratory. He lowered his hands once he believed the female was alright and graciously accepted the charger that was handed into his possession; fingers curling against the object in hand. “I think a meal will be something I should treat you to after I make sure you’re alright, Jia noona.” Mustering up the best smile he could at this moment, he bent down in order to connect the charger against the charging station, his brows furrowing as he settled into a crouching position and observed the screen lit up and display the battery percentage on the robot’s system. His shoulders slumped. “Jia, you’ve been gone for so long your battery almost ran out.”

The girl watched him turn his back on her and walk in, and took it as her cue to follow, which she did much slower than she expected, with her limbs creaking strangely as she walked over. "Hm... perhaps I need a bit more than that." she said out loud, not really noticing she was talking. "It seems I got really worn down by that walk. Perhaps I am becoming obsolete." Jia's voice seemed to gain a slight mocking edge as she pronounced the last couple of word, odd in her speech, followed by an electric shock running down her body, making her stop. "Months? I do not recall being gone so long. I only have information of... a few days, I would say." A frown etched itself on her features and remained there as she approached the examination table, watching Kai rearranging the things that were piled on it.
The instinct to help was instantly triggered, but with her limbs hardly working, she felt she would be more of a nuissance than anything. "I am sorry to trouble you like this, Kai-ssi. I'll help you clean up once we're done." The robot moved up to the table and climbed on it, aware her battery was about to die out as she did so, she pulled out the charger and handed it without a thought to her friend. "I missed you too, Kai-ssi. I still owe you that meal, don't I?"
Welcome Home //Jia&Kai
Staying still was all Kai could do at this instant. To remain still and observe every movement the prototype in front of him gave, to be able to pick up any hints or traces of her sudden disappearance. A part of him wanted to beg the female to let him run some tests, yet he knew he wouldn’t be able to find anything at all if he tried. He was only a novice at this, of course, taking up all the glory of the higher upper scientists in the company; he decided to let the female do what she wanted.
Taking a small step to the side, he turned around and slowly walked his way over toward the back of his laboratory, hoping the female would follow and perhaps not collapse in the process. “A small check up is all you’ll get if you want. I still want to know where you’ve been these past couple of… months, though.” Slumping his shoulders as he arrived at the examination table, he gave the rather unused object a few pats and removed the clutter that he had occasionally began to pile on top of it, placing all the metal objects on the ground and simply kicking a few off to the side. Turning around to face the female, he gave the table a small pat in order to instruct the female to sit on it, his eyes still wandering about her rather worn out outfit. “I really missed you, you know that?”

Jia's system registered the odd expression in her friend's face, and she took her time trying to register where it was going. It seemed stuck somewhere between a smile and... something else. The question brought her attention back to the conversation and she frowned lightly. "There is no need to worry about me, though, Kai-ssi. I'll be fine as long as I can recharge." The sweet smile on her lips remained even as his expression seemed to darken.
The girl waited patiently for the scientist to give her an order or lead her somewhere, most likely her old sleeping quarters, which she didn't remember the location of. "Oh, sure, I imagine I need a small check up, though I don't think it was all that long ago..."
Once more, she tried to search through the vaults of her system, and having an easier time with it, she remembered having a check up with one of the new scientists not long before heading off that day. How long ago was that? Last week? There wasn't enough information in her memory drive to determine just how long she had been gone. She probably didn't stay away too long, since she wouldn't have a place to plug into.  "Should I come in then?"
Welcome Home //Jia&Kai
Concern was written all over Kai’s face. His eyes continued to trail and examine the ragged strands of clothes that the female in front of him wore. How long has it been since he had seen the female prototype around? Perhaps months, he didn’t know. His lips parted to ask a question, ask about her whereabouts and why she took so long to come back.
He remained silent instead.
The corner of his lips tried to curve upwards, to display a small smile of reassurance toward the other female but it was impossible. What happened to her? “Jia… I…I was so worried.” His shoulder slumped as he moved to the side a bit, double thinking if he should offer the prototype some help into his laboratory but he decided not to. It wouldn’t be fair, he thought, to offer some help to the female he grew to trust and protect over the months just because she looked a bit beaten down.
Or perhaps a lot.
It had been months, Kai thought, months since he hadn’t seen her. Why was she still up and running after all this time? His brows furrowed together in concentration at the countless of questions running through the maze of his mind. “Jia… do you mind if I run some tests on you now that you’re here? I mean… it’s been a long time since your last checkup, hasn’t it?”

The tattered looking robot waited patiently outside the door of the lab she had made her way to, willing herself to remember why she was here again, or why she had left in the first place. She seemed to be held up by a battery that should have died long ago, and something was sending a small shock down her left arm, which she wondered about. Jia heard the shuffling inside the lab as the owner made his way to her.
"Hello, Kai-ssi." She said, bowing her head to the young man that opened the door, a soft and pleasant smile on her lips. As she stood up straight again there was a light twitch, a minor creak, but she didn't even notice. At the scientists questions, she froze up for a second before smiling again. "I just walked a long way, but I'm happy to see you again. I think I need to recharge and I'll be better."
She looked down at herself as he did, realizing the state she was in, seeing why Kai would worry. Jia usually took good care of everything she owned and kept everything clean and neat. She tried wracking her memory for information but there was nothing. Vaguely she remembered walking through the country these past few days, and before that... Jia shook in place as she tried to remember, and the question was lost, as though it hadn't been registered.  "I walked a lot, so my battery is depleted and I think I might have overused my legs a bit. Could I plug in here? I'm sure I'll be better afterward."
Welcome Home //Jia&Kai
Tap tap tap
The sound of a pen tapping against the desk echoed against the whole laboratory; competing with the large humming of the air conditioning in the very back of the large room. The young scientist sat in his chair and continued to tap his pen against the desk in a worried manner. His eyes scanned the document in front of him before letting his eyes flutter shut, setting the pen in his hand down as well and leaned back against the black office chair to release a loud groan.
“I hate this, I don’t get a single thing it’s trying to tell me,” he mumbled as his right hand was raised to cover his eyes from any infiltrating light that occupied his well-lit laboratory. Science has never been his best subject and perhaps it never will be. Kim Jongin, the young (if not youngest) scientist in IX was a complete blockhead with anything higher-leveled than elementary science. Why would he pick something he was so bad at and try to actually pretend he knew what he was doing only to be thrown back to square one.
“Area of a square.. is…” a groan was released as both hands were brought up to cover his face in disappointment; his legs helping him begin moving from side to side with the help of his chair, achieving a slight 45° motion. “This is ridiculous, Jongin. Come on, come on!” The young male’s hands were removed from his face and he straightened up on his chair once more, his eyes locating the document he examined before. “You can do this, come on.”
Knock knock knock
Raising his head and disturbing his self pep-talk, he curiously glanced at the closed door on the other side of the room with a curious gaze. His brows furrowed in confusion and he shot his attention toward the clock resting on the wall on the left before letting his gaze return toward the door. “Who…?” Shaking his head, he leaned back and let his chair slide against the tiled floor; standing up and walking his way over toward the door to receive the individual who was perhaps looking for him so early in the morning.
As he opened the door, he blinked and widened his eyes in surprise at the young female prototype in front of him; simply giving her a once over as his lips parted in astonishment. “J-Jia? Oh my god, what happened to you?” His first instinct was to reach out for the female robot, stopping his actions as he decided to let his eyes wander about her ripped clothes and tired expression. “Where did you go? W-What happened to you?”

Welcome Home //Jia&Kai
She walked the streets of Seoul without realizing where she was headed. The girl had been walking for days… months? She couldn’t really recall. Cities passed by her, and she barely recalled where she’d been. Her clothes were dirty and ripped here and there, and she was running on the last of her battery. How long had it been since she recharged? She was close to the facilities now though. Something in her made her speed up as she realized this. Slowly, the familiar buildings came to sight, and she smiled, remembering a music store there, a bakery on that side. Didn't... her friend work there?
Jia’s keen eyes spotted the IX-200 building and the robot shook, straightened up and grinned. “You won’t know what hit you.” She said, laughing to herself. With a blink, the smile softened and she walked tiredly to the building. In the reception, the robot slowed down, her legs starting to drag. A receptionist smiled at her and recognized her, welcoming her back and ushering her towards the labs, noticing the tattered state she was in. Jia nodded with a soft smile and walked up to the first lab she recognized, knocking on the door.
