like/reblog if u are:
a bitch
a bastard
an all around fool
an omnipresent all-powerful being
a sparrow
c̵͙̳͕̈͛ụ̷̔r̸̗͎̽̓͗͜s̴̨̈́̿͘e̸͍̰̜͊̈́d̵̛̫̙͍͝͝
capable of moving at immense, incomprehensible speeds
an eldritch being
no one will know which one u chose! :D

Y’know the feeling when you’re walking through brambles and stepping over branches making a path for yourself in the woods and you’re just listening to the sounds of the forest and letting yourself feel small and a part of something much bigger and older and wiser than you? I want that.

I think everybody is all too eager to "support" autistic people, until they actually interact with autistic people. Then all of a sudden we're just not touchy feely lovey dovey uwu enough for them to support anymore.

Shouts out to the folks getting misgendered during the holidays, and to all the folks who have to listen to their family’s spout homophobic and transphobic shit. I love you. Remember the bathroom is a great place to take a five minute break and no one will question you. I’m thinkin about you and I hope the holidays aren’t too stressful and you have some peace. I see you.

tbh i have no idea how to engage with the people coming on my posts about ableism and saying what essentially usually boils down to “it is triggering to me, as an abuse survivor, to be told that autistic people have a social disability and so will regularly be disabled in their social interactions with me”
like… sorry? conflicting access needs are a thing. if you can’t have some leeway in your tolerance for someone interacting in a way that violates your social mores, you shouldn’t interact with people who have social disabilities. i understand that violating social mores is often a way that abusers work and respect the fact that this is therefore triggering to you, but it doesn’t change the fact that autistics are socially disabled and will often not be able to do things that you think are “basic” like “not yell” or “read the body language you are giving off to say not to touch you.”
if this is triggering to you, then yeah, you should probably admit that interacting with autistics is triggering to you and then take the responsibility on yourself to not fucking do it, because the option most people take where they continue to interact with autistics and rumor-mill abuserjacket them to the point of completely devastating their support networks and turning them into hypervigilant self-hating traumatized bundles of nerves is, uh, not a great reaction to your competing access needs. i don’t really have patience for queer leftists who respond to this with “but real bad people“ or “but my abusers” because like, this is a hard line. you cannot claim to be anti-ableist and then only accept the “good” autistics who don’t trigger you and be actively violent towards everyone else, and you cannot in good faith claim that literally everyone with a social disability is inherently violent and abusive by virtue of having that social disability in a way that is upsetting for you to engage with.

I don't see posts all that often about it though I'm sure they exist and are worded much better than this, but an integral part of destigmatizing disability is destigmatizing disability you find personally gross.
People with full bowel incontinence. People that drool. People that stim by picking their nose or eating their hair and skin. People that can't shower or bathe without help, if they shower or bathe at all. And while I hate to put them on this list, I've seen how they've been talked about, obese people are included.
These people are just as deserving of respect and accomodations as any other disabled person.
As this post leaves my tumblr bubble please, if you live in the United States, sign this petition to update the ADA's accessibility guidelines to include mandatory companion restrooms with adult changing tables.
