Because they’re a nice distraction. It doesn’t matter anyway, nothing’s going to come of it. It can’t. Our house wouldn’t approve.

Okay, you're right about that. But since you already care and all that useless stuff, it shouldn't be too hard to get them to care if they don't already. I really don't think you're the most subtle person in the world, they have to have noticed that you care about them. Why else would you stick around?

I care about them, that doesn’t necessarily mean they care back.

Tons of people say that, then they go around trying to impress everyone with their ' I don't care what people think' attitude.  You're such a liar.--Thought you said you had no one who cares about you? That sounds like someone to me. 

I’m okay the way I am. I’ve got someone anyway, I’m not worried about impressing people.
