8mm tests/outtakes from Chemical Meadows, along the Hackensack River in Kearny near the new NJ Transit bridge currently under construction. These shots ended up not having a place in the film because, while the entire lower Hackensack is now a Superfund site, this particular bit of shoreline is not.
The actual full film shows this Wednesday, June 25, 7pm, at @smackmellon in DUMBO, followed by a conversation with @pallavisuranaa (and your chance to grill me on Meadowlands ecology, history, photochemistry!)

The Panopticon, 2020/25
ICE never went away, but they're stepping up the viciousness of their operations again, abducting people from their due-process immigration hearings and shipping NYC high school students to Texas. Two days ago, city officials were denied access to inspect the ICE detainment facilities here, at their regional offices on floors 9 and 10 of the New York Federal Building downtown.
Protest at 5pm today a Foley Square, and every day outside the Federal Building.

A fire in East Orange.
Why do so many of my long bike rides through New Jersey end with coming upon something on fire? (I was told everyone got out okay.)
