I'm [30F] from Australia, been to 32+ countries mostly solo and keep a stash of small toy kangaroos, koalas, pencils with Aussie animals and small animal keyrings in my hand luggage. So many locals help me as a solo traveller, whether it's finding a bus, giving me change for automated toilets or helping with luggage, and it's a great way to show thanks. I use to feel bad when I had nothing to give in return. On transport it's a great way for me to engage with any parents travelling with children in the same cabin/compartment/flight. via /r/LifeProTips

Smoke detector, AC unit, phone, door crack - so much light!I find that duct tape is not as good because it leaves a sticky residue and no one wants that on their buttons. via /r/LifeProTips

There are many foods for comparable prices that don't have corn or byproduct in the first few ingredients. Not to say that having these in your food should deter you from getting that food if your pet is healthy, enjoys the diet, and the food is in your budget; but pet owners often overlook filler product amounts when doing cost benefit food analysis. Less nutrient dense food is always cheaper, but more expensive food is not always better. via /r/LifeProTips

I don’t mean be selfish, but try to think what is driving your interaction and the true effect it will have on you, others, and the future. Thinking this way has helped me avoid workplace politics and gossip or bitching about things and focus on choosing what is meaningful to me professionally. via /r/LifeProTips

I just donated $100 to my favorite charity, my company matched $100. So now $200 is getting sent, and the charity is having a double donation week, so that $200 is getting doubled. My $100 turned into $400 for them! via /r/LifeProTips

More often than not a heads up will put you in a better position. Sometimes they have payment plans, you can defer the payment, avoid late fees or at least not be considered a risk for one late payment.Companies still want their money even if it's late, most of the time they will work with you. via /r/LifeProTips

When she wants to send photos of the ring to friends and family or post it to social media, she'll be thankful that her nails look the best possible that they can before sharing such an up-close photo of her hand. via /r/LifeProTips

I'm quite a softly spoken person and it feels unnatural for me to raise my voice. As a consequence, I get spoken over or interrupted in meetings a lot (or at least I see it that way) which can be very frustrating. How can I assert myself in a professional way? via /r/LifeProTips
