Cris (the owner of this blog) passed away on Wednesday, October 10th, 2018, due to complications with illness that landed her in the ICU.

My name is Pat (over at @labrattish​), and like y’all, it was a shocking revelation when I found out. Cris lived a short life burning brighter than any star. She was an amazing person—as anyone following this blog knows. She was obstinate beyond belief but also one of the kindest dreamers I’ve ever met. She will be missed. And while sadness is inevitable, know that Cris would roll her eyes at all of us (and possibly punch us in the boob) if she managed to catch us crying too much.

Her family asked that anyone wishing to do something in remembrance of her, think about donating in her name to reputable animal foundation/charity, some suggestions:

The Argus Service Dog Foundation (service dogs for veterans)

Best Friends (general animal charity)

DELTA Rescue (the largest animal sanctuary of its kind)—I picked this one because she would have thought it was only fitting since Delta is also her dog’s name.

Please know that if you need or want to talk, my ear is always open over at @labrattish​. Cris cherished everyone of you, and I felt it was important that her online world wasn’t left in the dark. <3

Welp: A Follow-Up.

Welp.

There’s a very good chance I’ve borked my first and current playthrough of Dragon Age Inquisition. You know, the one I’ve been posting on YouTube? The one I’m 32 hours into? That one.

First it was crashing at startup, so I uninstalled everything, including the DAI Mod Manager (especially since I wasn’t actually using any of those mods). Now the game loads, but I can’t load any of the saves. First I get this message:

“This save data was created with a newer version of the game. Please download the latest patch and try again.”

Thankfully, I found a website that offered a solution.

Except it didn’t work for me. I started getting this message instead:

“Unable to load save data as required downloadable content is missing. Please download the content again.”

And I would, except that I can’t, because I have Game of the Year Edition, meaning everything installs at once.

So I tried reinstalling Mod Manager and the mods I had. It still won’t load any of the saves from my playthrough.

I have now uninstalled everything again and in the process of reinstalling it. Again. I’m hoping some kind of miracle happens and everything works, because I really don’t want to have to start from scratch. I would, and I have at least a month to do so because I’ve staggered uploads for the next four or five weeks, but I really wouldn’t want to because I know the files are all right there and they’re not corrupted or anything. Like, just remaking Ramsay Trevelyan alone would take me a while (because I didn’t save his sliders) and the idea of having to maybe remake the same decisions just feels monumental right now.

Ugh. I finally start to get into a regular upload schedule with a game and it starts getting outside views, and this happens. Goddammit. :|

And now, for something a little bit different: City management!

I don’t know if you guys watch RTGame at all, but apparently, I do now. And apparently, I get really into his playthroughs of City: Skylines to the point that when the game goes on sale, I buy a copy and stream on a low-energy day. It’s pretty fun, even if I have no idea what I’m doing.

This is all for a video I’m putting together that, hopefully, will be out tomorrow or Wednesday if I can get through all the segments. I’m not even sure if it will make sense with context, but I’m having a good time, so I guess that’s what matters?

I want to record more DAI or more Vampyr but it is too HOT and I haven’t invested in a powerful enough fan and UGH.

I guess I could start editing the three hours’ worth of DAI I recorded yesterday, but I am very much in a “play/record playing” mode rather than an “edit everything” mode. ALTHOUGH--I did at least separate the commentary and game audios for volume balancing purposes. So there’s that.

And I mean...three hours’ worth of recording footage. That’ll turn out to be at least a few more weeks’ worth of videos.

So it turns out there is a lore-related reasoning as to why you don’t get the entire Evoker’s Set right away--the reason being they haven’t excavated the last piece yet--but that’s still a pretty flimsy way of saying, “Go level grind ‘til you hit 50 for the next quest.”

That said, Fester and Tri-Bind are pretty sweet powers, ngl.

Plus I’m a Summoner! Technically, as long as I’m doing my job right, nobody’s going to poke me in the squishy bits. Damn, I love Glamour Prisms.
