BBC Merlin Drabble

So today I was in my first uni lecture for semester 2, two hours long. There was a PowerPoint, I already typed all I need to. So I did the one thing I could while listening to my lecture -> Watch BBC Merlin

As I was watching, I felt a pair of eyes on me. Disregarded it for a moment before I heard from beside me, "Is that Merlin?"

Obviously I had to do a double take cause what? NO ONE that I have met knew about Merlin unless I infodumped a lot about it to them. So naturally I was shocked, asked them how he knew. Found out that he knew cause of some of the actors, he said he will probably watch it as well.

This has surprised me so much due to the fact he knew what I was watching. Anyway- another one joins the team of waiting for Arthur to get out of the bloody lake.

P.S Will slowly update to see whether he does indeed watch it and see what he thinks. Can't wait!

I read a joke post a while back where someone said they weren’t Doomed by the Narrative they were Betrayed by the Narrative and that’s the perfect trope for BBC Merlin.

-The narrative told Merlin over and over again that all of his suffering was going to end in a wonderful peaceful kingdom where magic was safe.

-It told Merlin he was the hero and was going to keep Arthur safe.

-It told Merlin that to do that he had to stop Arthur’s allies before they became his enemies.

-I’ve never seen another narrative that goes out of its way to tell the main character so much, and it was all lies.

-They were doomed from the start and the narrative made sure he never saw it.

SOMEBODY BLOODY KILL ME RIGHT NOW, I SWEAR-

So earlier I was scrolling on my phone when I saw what someone said about Newt's death in the movies.

They said, "Minho doesn't see Newt dead as a crank, he saw his friend who fell in the maze" like- Seriously kill me right now.

Cause like remember that Minho was having those tests done on him beforehand and he more likely was still experiencing the after effects from it. So, obviously he didn't really process that Newt was a crank and had died. All he could probably see and even think was Newt dead on the maze floor.

I can't stop thinking about this truly.

P.S. So sorry for the trauma I've given us tmr fans back!

LOVE this. Reminds me of a fic I'm currently writing where I am slowly weaving some ships into it. The line "Gally who hates feeling vulnerable. Minho who makes him feel safe enough to talk to him" reminds me of a minor part of them as Newt remembers seeing Minho crawl into Gally's hammock back in the Glade while said builder is screaming his lungs off since he was going the changing.

LIKE IT IS THE OPPOSITE WITH THEM AS WELL!

I swear these two are some of my favs ships in the TMR fandom.

I really wish people would pay more attention to my very near always honest, genuine words instead of reading their biases in my tone and facial expressions, which fairly often don't match neurotypical experience or expectations.

Generally, I don't mean to come off as standoffish or rude or disinterested or anything negative. Sometimes it's just that I don't have the energy to mask anymore; I'm too tired to create or continue the facade for the comfort or acceptance of others.

It's draining when I try to explain this and people still don't listen, or act like I'm lying for some unfathomable reason.

I mask at times, but I don't lie without having an exceptionally good reason to— and a little more of your understanding isn't that.

Do you think Newt guided the gun towards his head so that WICKED couldn't have the scattered remains of his brain after he died

Reminds me of a certain country at the moment with the direction they are starting to head towards. If you know you know.

talking about maze runner and how its not just a stupid teen dystopian series

its a discussion about the disregard for human life and how we as humans are sometimes too prideful to face the consequences of our actions

how we will destroy the planet and then we will destroy ourselves

its about unethical science, government power, global warming, drug problems, history repeating itself, and how no matter how strong your love is for someone, it can’t keep them alive.

its about being a pawn in a world that was destoryed by the generations before you

about being abused at the hands of those who did it and being told its for the better

having all the responsibility of fixing this dying world put on the shoulders of teenagers who don’t even know who they are yet.

they get put into the shoes of scientists, politicians, shoes that don’t fit.

WICKED is good they will say. and we will have to smiled, nod and cross our fingers with hope because there is no one else to help us.

Just a tad bit of a Merlin Infodump

So I'm rewatching BBC Merlin right, and well I'm back at series 3, ep 1 (The Tears of Uther Pendragon) and well I just can't bloody believe how stupid Arthur is.

Like we all knew it from the beginning, Arthur is a "blind" prat but like I just forgot how "blind" this man is. Oh yea, not even at 3 minutes 30 seconds, Merlin just casually uses magic to save Arthur's life once again by killing a guy while Arthur is finishing off another.And this Prince just looks around like "who the heck threw that?"

Yea, we know that technically Arthur saw the direction the spear was thrown from, but you gotta at least think that he might have JUST seen the gold die down from the servant's eyes but ignored it thinking it was the trick of the light.

Like Dollophead, THINK about it for once. Other characters, your friends have clocked it so quickly and either had said something to Merlin or kept quiet (aka Lancelot;Gwaine and Gwen - who I'm sure knew from the very beginning but kept quiet). At least they saw it!

Love however that us Merlin fans believe that he might have known about it deep down and just couldn't believe it. Wish we actually got that bloody magic reveal earlier cause it would've been so funny to see what these two came up with.

STOP. Not Merthur and Newtmas being my two fav ships, and including the...y'know scenes (for those who know. Not gonna say it cause I'm dying inside if I do).

Not it being true tho, especially if they've had moments in canon where they do indeed flirt in their one way. Cough cough MERTHUR specifically cough.
