Why do I have the biggest crush on Benedict? I usually go for the toxic ones. But now I'm into the cute, honest and funny artist? What's wrong with me? 😂

Sure will. Thank you for clarifying your point of view for me. I think we all can learn from one another having into account that all of us have different experiences and opinions. Sorry for any inconvenience I might have caused 🙏

I didn't say lesbians have no right to exist or being represented. I just have a pet peeve with stereotypes cause although I'm an ace I was always considered a lesbian just because I didn't want to be in a relationship and my best friend was bi. I didn't mean to sound offensive, but I'm sorry if I did. It wasn't on purpose, but I swear I'll be more careful with my choice of words in the future.

Creating Fictional Holidays
     Happy Holidays everyone!
Like mythology or folklore, holidays can add an extra bit of realism and magic to your fictional worlds, and provide for an interesting setting to portray characters, culture, or even family dynamic.
While you can use real world holidays and adapt them to your worlds, you may also want to create your own! Here’s a few things to consider:
1. What does your holiday celebrate?
Typically, holidays come from historical events or events believed to have happened by religious groups. Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Christ. Diwali celebrates the victory of light over darkness, or good’s triumph over evil. Passover celebrates Israelites’ escape from slavery. This would be a great chance to delve into the history of your world, and how it forms and influences communities.
Otherwise (and as well as), holidays can be expressions of important cultural values such as community, hard work, or family. The Day of the Dead (or Dia de los Muertos) is the celebration of honoring passed family members, Labour day is held to honour the struggle for unionization by working people. What does your holiday say about the society or community that created it?
2. How has your holiday adapted?
As much as holiday is entrenched in longstanding tradition, there is no escaping modernization and adaption to contemporary norms. As much as Christmas is a religious holiday at its roots, for many, it’s a celebration of family and gift giving. Rather than being a saint, Santa has become the jolly toy-maker separated from religion entirely.
If your holiday began to celebrate say Harvest season, but in modern times ‘harvest season’ is no longer regularly recognized, how does this society continue to celebrate this holiday? Where does tradition and modern standards intersect?
3. How do people perceive the holiday?
Even joyous, wholesome holidays are going to have haters. Just think of Valentines Day coming around every year—there are people who love it, people who hate it, and people who see it as a superficial excuse to fund capitalism and consumer culture. What do the people of your world believe about the holiday, or what groups/communities are invited or left out?
4. What rituals go into celebrating your holiday?
During Christmas, many families bring in a tree, wrap gifts to put under it, and bake cookies for a secret intruder in the night. A ritual is just a way people honour something—it doesn’t necessarily have to be cultish or ‘evil’. What longstanding rituals go into the celebration of your holiday?
Maybe gifts are exchanged, candles are lit, cards are given out, money is donated, certain foods are given up or certain times limit eating (such as fasting), families gather, parties are held, etc. etc. There are thousands of ways people celebrate what’s important to them. Consider how each family or character in your story might take a slightly different spin on the same rituals.
I hope no matter what or how you celebrate this year, you get time to spend with your loved ones <3

I really hope season 3 includes a story line where Colin thinks Penelope has a secret lover and is getting railed on the regular, only to discover she's just Lady Whistledown.
No because that was one of the funniest parts of the book. Colin is off in lala land as he's stalking Penelope thinking she's coming to see him only for him to crash down into the pits of jealousy as they essentially pass by his house. Then when he's ready to call for duels with Penelope's imaginary lover, getting ready to confront her Colin.exe stops working as he reads not a love letter but an unpublished column for Lady Whistledown.
Just as he sighing a breathe of relief that the love of his life does not have a lover reality hits him like a brick because wait, she's who now?!

How to Write a Quality First Draft
Tumblr media
Every year, we’re lucky to have great sponsors for our nonprofit events. ProWritingAid, a 2023 NaNo sponsor, helps you turn your rough first draft into a clean, clear, publish-ready manuscript. Today, author Krystal N. Craiker shares some tips on how to make sure your first draft has some good bones to start with:
One question I often hear about National Novel Writing Month is, “Won’t my novel be of terrible quality?”
It’s true that writing 50,000 words in 30 days won’t give you a polished manuscript. And it’s always great to embrace the creative mess of the first draft.
However, there are some tricks to ensure that your first draft has plenty of usable content. These tips are also a great way to move your story along when you get stuck.
1. Have a Plan
Pantsers, this might be hard to hear. But having even a basic outline of your story can ensure you stay on track. You don’t have to sacrifice creativity when you outline. After all, you’re still the author creating a story.
A detailed outline can even act like your messy first draft. The more work you put into planning, the better your first draft will be. When I spend more time plotting, I spend far less time cutting things from my later drafts.
2. Make Every Scene 3D
Okay, I get it. Not everyone is a plotter. Luckily, there are other things you can do to ensure your first draft is good quality. One is adding enough sensory detail to bring your story to life.
I like to use a 3D method: have at least three of the five senses in every scene. It’s a great trick to improve the flow of your scene. Take a few minutes to immerse yourself in your story and write what your characters are experiencing.
You might change it or move it around in your final draft, but you’ll save yourself time during revisions if you add sensory detail from the beginning.
3. Reword Your Writing
Sometimes we get stuck after one bad sentence. The imposter syndrome kicks in, and the scene just falls flat.
Ideally, we completely turn off our inner editor during NaNoWriMo. But when you encounter that one pesky sentence, it’s okay to rewrite it.
You can use a tool like ProWritingAid’s Rephrase. Just highlight your sentence, click Rephrase, and select a new sentence. Rephrase uses your own words and enhances them. And don’t worry about security and privacy—ProWritingAid never uses your writing to train AI.
4. Embrace the Chaos
Of course, the most important thing about National Novel Writing Month is to embrace the messy creative process. It’s okay not to have a perfect manuscript at the end of the month—no one will.
Everyone will need to revise, edit, and rewrite after November ends. That’s why NaNoWriMo includes "I Wrote a Novel... Now What?" resources. And when you’re ready to turn your mess into a masterpiece, ProWritingAid will be there to help.

a silly, random but useful tip on how to write faster, how to not get distracted while writing ♡✧.*
this may sound weird and very old-school, but writing your fic down onto a paper first is actually an effective way to write faster, or it least it works for me. listen, I can’t explain why, but there’s something very motivating about feeling a pen (or a pencil) in your hand and seeing your own handwriting as you write, as well as how much, how many pages you’ve written.
the bonus is that you can’t get distracted by tumblr, twitter, instagram, etc if you’re not on your laptop or your phone.
basically, you’re less likely to get distracted by social media if you’re simply typing what you’ve already wrote (onto a piece of paper) on your phone/laptop. because you don’t have to sit and think about what to write, since that is the part in which one will mostly get distracted.
I always like writing my work — as in an entire fic — on a notebook first, then type the whole thing on my laptop later. and yes, I get the chapter done a lot faster this way.
