after getting the confirmation at the new year’s ball that winnie was indeed something more than just a human - rose’s desire to hunt and focus on her mission had amplified. not that it hadn’t already been strong before, but with an actual target in mind now it gave her confidence to continue trying to find other sources of magic around the island as well. if she came up empty handed there wouldn’t be any real loss, considering she already knew of one magical creature on the island. so for the first time since arriving on the island, the blonde had broken out her hunting gear - full outfit and staff at the ready as she did a patrol around one of the parks on the island. it wasn’t a place she expected to find much - but it was a start. though what rose did end up seeing wasn’t anything she could have prepared for. staff held tightly, the sharp, curved edge pointed outwards, rose watched from behind a tree as a woman not too far off zoomed around on a hoverboard type machine. it was something rose had seen before back in the huntsclan, a gadget she owned herself but rarely used, but the woman’s entire outfit was different than anything they wore back home - a dead giveaway that she wasn’t involved with the huntsclan. who or what she was though... rose had no clue. but she was going to find out. “hey,” she called out as she jumped from behind the trees and began to make her way over towards the stranger. “what are you doing out here?” what she really wanted to ask was who was she - but rose knew enough about secret identities to be aware she wouldn’t get any real type of answer out of that one. @valcriegray

adora shrugged. it made sense to get kicked out for doing that but she didn’t care. she had good company, she felt good; what could possibly go wrong? “if we get kicked out, let’s make sure we have fun first. and shrimp. i love the fancy little shrimps that come with these parties.” she was dead serious too. she never felt so fancy in her life and she was trying to take advantage of the luxuries presented. it was what she was raised to do. “do you like shrimp? they got cheese too.”
glancing over at the buffet table, rose couldn’t help but think that’s a brilliant idea. “i haven’t had the shrimp here yet,” she answers honestly. “but i bet it’s good. come on, let’s go get some.” taking adora’s hand in her own without thinking, the blonde pulled her along as she started heading towards the food. “i’ve never actually been to a party like this before,” she confesses once they’re in front of all the options and she gets a good look at everything. “i wasn’t sure if we had to wait to eat or if it was just take whatever whenever.”

deciding on a quick bathroom break, winnie leaves her friends. she doesn’t think much of it when the blonde bumps into her. it’s not until she feels a burning on her arm that she realizes something isn’t right. she tries her best not to act out of instint: a sharp his and reflexive move of her arm. she needs to be careful, her father’s voice is always in her head reminding her of it. she takes a few more steps before the residual burning makes her curse under her breath. “ fuck ” she whispers to herself, noticing the small burn mark left behind by the contact of silver and her skin. “ sorry ” she mutters quietly before rushing off to the bathroom, rubbing the spot.
the reaction might not have been noticed by anyone else - but rose had trained her entire life for moments like this. so it was with ease that she picked up on the hiss and way the girl practically jolted away. it’s enough of an overreaction for a brush on the arm to gain rose’s attention right away - her suspicion only increasing as the girl then swears and runs off as well. without hesitation the blonde follows her towards the bathroom. “are you okay?” she asks, making sure to fake a worried tint in her tone and keep all true feelings or thoughts buried far from the visible surface.

“Your guess is as good as mine,” Sam answered, knowing how unhelpful that was in the moment. She’d been to her fair share of balls on other missions before ( no one knew how to throw a ball like the Austrians ) and, though this one reminded her of them, it wasn’t quite like her life was in immediate danger. Or so she hoped. “I’ve heard of some other events but none in the castle itself so I have to assume this is the most extravagant they get.”
“That’s true, they do seem to love their festivals,” she agrees with a small chuckle, partially forced thought it felt natural at this point for how long and hard she’d trained herself for social interactions like this. “I hope they don’t get any more upscale than this. It was hard enough finding an appropriate outfit for this event, I can’t imagine having to find anything nicer.”

adora felt weird dressing up and trying to mingle, but glimmer and bow insisted on her going and she figured she could use a night out. she hardly ever let loose and have a few drinks, except for that night with catra…so she figured this one time couldn’t hurt. then again, the catra moment wasn’t a really good one, but…there was chance for it to be good. so she had a few drinks and everything after that was sure to be a blur. bumping into rose made everything better too. she was….pretty cool, if adora was being honest with herself. pretty, tough, and awesome at conversation! “rose! that’s….you are rorse, yeah?” she giggled. “i’m so sorry, i totally do not have the best…grasp on words right now and i feel so silly with this mask on…” she took the mask off her face. “that’s a lot better……sup?”
a little giggle escapes rose’s lips at the slip up of her name, the blonde extremely amused that adora managed to get her name correct at first just to mess it up within the same sentence. “yeah, i’m rose,” she confirms with a grin, one that came naturally and wasn’t forced or put on for appearances like all her other ones usually are. watching the other girl take off her mask, rose hesitated for a brief second before doing the same. removing a face covering in public wasn’t something she was used to, so trained to constantly keep her true identity hidden that having a masquerade mask on felt natural and taking it off left rose feeling bare in a way it really shouldn’t. “we aren’t going to get kicked out for taking these off, are we?”

Watching Jake walking her way, Rose was half tempted to just turn around and leave - find someone else to talk with or potentially even just ditch the event entirely. But she had been so excited for the ball that she refused to let Jake fucking Long ruin it for her. “It’s fine,” she answers, short as usual. Of course she thought far more of the night than just it being fine - but he wasn’t someone Rose would go into any more detail with than necessary. “It’s a masquerade. No one’s hiding. They’re following dress code.” Of course she herself was always hiding in a sense, but that was far from the point. Tonight she was simply another girl attending a masquerade ball - the mask on her face completely different than the one she wears while hunting, purely just meant for decoration. Watching Jake lift his glass in a toast, Rose refused to follow suit and simply just stared at him. “I guess. It doesn’t really make a difference to me what year it is. Nothing changes at the stroke of midnight.”
Location: Corona Castle Ballroom
Just trying to stay out of trouble and put a good behavior in front of everyone else was really tiresome, being more of a way to destroy creativity than to boost personal development. In Jake’s opinion, an individual who preferred not to follow the established steps. If everyone went to the left, he was the rebellious soul that moved to the right on purpose just to show independence. Never erasing the smile from his face, camera in hand focusing on the ground, knowing that there was a possibility that it could be destroyed. “Didn’t expect to run into you so soon. This island is really small. Having a good time?” The youtuber was not able to hide that accusing tone despite the fact that the expression remained neutral, preferring to try luck and stay in the place. Never back off unless the situation really needs it. “So much fun and so many masks. That makes tha one questioned oneself what kind of people hide behind that mask, that facade.” Questions in the form of a riddle, taking a sip from the champagne glass, doing a mocking try of a toast with a raised eyebrow. Usually, deep rehearsals weren’t part of his persona but could be blamed for having slightly overindulged with alcohol. Shit, head was going to be a mess in the morning if that rhythm was maintained. “For us, Rose, and for all the secrets that circulate in plain sight.” Not that Jake hides something too great to be considered dangerous or juicy, besides being a liar to the whole Long’s family even if they weren’t aware yet, but the point was, nothing was what it seemed to be. One of those things that even though neither shared friendship, getting closer to a complex relationship of frnemies, something that they couldn’t deny. Everyone was aware that the island wasn’t a common place, but better to turn a blind eye. “Eager to start a new year?” @rosehuntsman

having made one step closer to figuring out what exactly was going on with sibella and all of her roommates and friends, rose allowed herself to loosen up just a tad bit more than usual in celebration. of course she was still on high alert, or at least as high alert as she could be with a few glasses of champagne and mixed drinks in her system - but for once she was actually going to enjoy the night. a decision that was further solidified when she spotted adora by herself not too far off. “hey,” she greets with a grin as she approaches the other girl. “having fun so far?” it wasn’t a great start to a conversation, but rose had never been the best at social interactions in the first place. @lastshera

though she had originally had every intention of staying far away from any of the potential magic users she had her eyes on, when one of the girls breaks away from the rest of her friends and is left standing on her own, rose couldn’t pass on the opportunity. it had to be subtle of course, just a brief interaction would be enough to start. but as rose bumps into the other girl with her silver bracelet brushing against winnie’s skin, it becomes clear that this moment is going to be far more important than just a casual introduction. @howlingwinnie

With a half empty glass of champagne in hand, Rose was mostly just minding her own business - there were a few people she had her eye on for this ball, but she was avoiding trying to get too close to them at the moment. So when Sam approaches her she’s thankful, her friend giving her another chance to blend in and throw off any potential suspicion there might be. “It really is,” she agrees, looking around at the ballroom once more. “I’ve never been to any type of dance before... Are they all so... extravagant?”
If there was one thing Sam had learned about Corona Island in her research, it was that they liked to throw an event. The New Years Eve Ball was no different. Though she didn’t have a date date, she was happy to run into Rose almost immediately upon getting there. Alex and Clover were already working the room, not surprising in the least, leaving Sam to do a little reconnaissance by herself. “Hey,” she said with a wave, walking up towards her classmate. “This is something, isn’t it?” // @rosehuntsman

“What?” she asks, looking around for just a moment before turning to almost glare at the boy. “What are you talking about?”

walking through town, rose had one particular destination in mind - the little cafe she’d passed so many times before but never stopped inside to see. perhaps a coffee would be nice, or just a baked treat... she had thought about going to the bakery for that particular pick-me-up, but that led the potential risk of being noticed by elsa - which wasn’t something she could afford at the moment. not when she still wasn’t entirely certain just what was going on with her and the rest of her little friend group. so the cafe would have to do instead. only before she makes it into actual business, her attention is drawn to the boy standing outside the shop besides it. stopping to wait besides him, rose glances down at the little village and has to admit it’s quite pretty. “what?” she questions when the boy suddenly starts talking to her. “oh uhhm.. i don’t know. i’ve never really thought of it, i suppose.” looking at the tiny houses and little display figurines once more, rose considers the question for a moment. “nature would be nice - but not too much. it should still be a city, lots of buildings and people bustling about.”
to: open location: walking towards making today a perfect day cafe (evening hours)
𝓒𝓪𝓵𝓮𝓫 rubbed his hands together, every so often bringing them up to his lips to blow a little into them, an attempt to keep himself warm as he walked towards making today a perfect day cafe. he glanced around as he walked, observing the people around him. when suddenly his brown eyes caught the sight of a little village inside of a shops window, and he was quick to make his way over. for caleb, there weren’t many things that he didn’t find fascinating, he was such an easily intrigued guy when it came to curious things, and the world around him had so many curiosities for him to get lost in. little villages, especially christmas villages, were always a guilty pleasure of his. there was just something so incredibly cool to him to see a miniature village put together, especially if he could peek inside the building’s windows and see miniature furniture or a cute little scene unfolding. he was admiring the little toy shop when he suddenly felt as if someone was standing next to him; though he tensed up a bit, he spoke in a friendly tone, “isn’t this kinda neat? if you could build your own little village, do you have any idea what you’d turn it into? personally, mine would have to contain a lot of nature, but i also love the idea of a halloween type of town.

|| Get to know ROSE HUNTSMAN who’s TWENTY-THREE years old and a SENIOR in college majoring in PHILOSOPHY. She is from CONNECTICUT and is often times mistaken for JENNY BOYD while others say she reminds them of ROSE from AMERICAN DRAGON JAKE LONG ||
born rose smith in a small town in the middle of connecticut, rose never actually knew her birth parents. the man who raised her told her they had died in a car accident when she was just a baby and he and his organization had rescued her and taken her in. it’s a lie that rose has always believed and still does to this day. the truth is however she had been ripped from her mothers arms when she was born - taken for the dragon shaped birthmark that wraps around her right hand. like the truth about her parents, rose also doesn’t know that she has a twin out there somewhere - living the normal life they were supposed to have together.
the man who raised her was the leader of the huntsclan, known by all in the cult as the huntsman, and he trained her as both his daughter and apprentice. even though everyone in the huntsclan was taught survival skills, fighting, and intense martials arts - no one had as much potential in them as rose. she was known as the huntsgirl and was believed to be the one that would officially bring an end to all magic.
her birthmark is a dark red color and a clear image of a dragon - far more prominent than anyone else in the huntsclan. which played a large part in why the huntsman thought it would be her out of everyone that succeeded in destroying magic
all of her life up until moving to corona was spent in the academy - first as a trainee and then as an instructor to the other students. she went out on missions around the country to find proof of magic users or magical creatures and destroy them, but always returned to the academy. though unlike all other students, she didn’t live in the academy - she stayed with the huntsmaster
when rumors of excess magic in corona reached the hunstclan, rose was the first one to declare the island as her new mission. determined that it would be in corona that she could find a way to bring about an end to all magic - or at least a good source of it. and having always thought her for greatness, the huntsman agreed to let her go. it is her first solo mission as well as the first one to be long-standing.
she came to the island a year ago and enrolled in corona university, claiming to have been a transfer from another school having the huntsclan forge paperwork to get her in. she’s majoring in philosophy and does enjoy it, even if she’s not as passionate as others in her courses. though her main focus right now is her mission
even though she sees active usage of magic from people all around the island, rose isn’t too concerned about that. she’s looking bigger picture and in search of the source of all the magic on the island. far more concerned with that than a few people that can fly and glow - though if given the opportunity to take out someone with magic without raising suspicion she absolutely would. she’s also focused on attempting to kill any known monsters - seeing them as a much bigger threat than humans with simple powers.
runs every single morning and works out every afternoon when her classes are done - needs to remain absolutely on top of her game.
favorite color is pink and really loves flowers.
